  1. 25. I have few fears, losing 7 family members within a few years does do that, but my main one is that the TPN I was on for 3 months has aborted my weight loss capabilities and I will stall in the mid to low 200s and never make it into Onederland, where I decided to be. As the weather slowly warms back up I am exercising by walking more, still gonna get me a bike although Tomkitten groans to hear it. Now that I no longer have Dunlap Disease- where my rump don't lap down on each side of the bike seat I won't look like a Fat Old Lady trying to regain her lost youth. I talk about spading up a small garden plot, even if I only grow salad greens and such, it would help. Lord knows I have no delusions about 30 feet of sweet corn, don't even like corn all that much, give me carrots, tomatoes and onions and I will be his Kool Mama Kitten once more. Flowers, IDK, might move again , have a lease but there are things he didn't live up to in the agreement and reading Ohio lease/ tenant rules, I can get out of it. One of the things is he has failed to make it handicap- accessible which he promised within 90 days, no hand rails, only have real steps on one door, an outside light there but back door had none and just a stack of half-pallets for step- downs , Tomkitten has to follow me in and out so I don't trip and fall backwards, cold air registers are broken, for a while we had stray cats coming into the basement, he has a lock on the basement storm door so I don't have access to down there, is he hiding a still or something? Suspect the hall going to the upstairs that he is going turn into a studio/1 bedroom apartment in the Spring or so he says, might have also contained an access set of stairs to the basement, but I may never know for sure. And I wonder if I am heating the upstairs from the way my gas bill bounced up in pricing, luckily I am on a year- round budget plan, but still? And he also states there are 2 electric meters, the one is digital but TK and I keep watching to see how much it moves for nobody being up there. When I wanted Spectrum to institute cable service, he refused to come unlock the basement for access, so my cable quality isn't A1 j-ust come in through the wall, probably needs rewired but he refused to open Secret Land long enough for access, notified him 4 days ahead but he was Busy? He is turning out to be one strange bird! So if nothing else collapses, there are weak areas in the wood floor he had splat brown cheap paint on , just mop with a swifter wet mop but the paint is wearing off in places. So it will be no mystery if this place becomes history in a few months when the weather moderates.?
  2. I have wondered about China seeds, the fact they turn gelatinous does appeal, I am a weird enough dudette that I like Okra, most people say it verges on slimy but I had an Aunt I dearly loved, a G.R.I.T. (girl raised in the South) had many a good meal with Aunt Besse. She is now one of God's Angels but I miss her still.
  3. September 5 2018-surgery day- 319 pounds March 3 2019- two days short- 242 pounds or so their scale says.
  4. It never is a smooth plunge but more stop and starts losing weight after surgery, but all of us will make it to where we should be! And we all will be better than we started out, right?
  5. I would say you're starting down the weight loss pathway, and maybe the doctor you're going to meet will be just as good if not better. Sometimes some offices do better jumping through the Medicaid hoops and others. Meet your new surgeon and see if you don't like him also. My bariatric surgeon is 50 miles away from where I live, my local hospital couldn't offer what I really needed, their bariatric programs are just starting and they couldn't compete with the care I got in Columbus, Best of everything for you from me in Central Ohio.
  6. Stalls are really pauses your body takes. instead of running downhill Willy- nilly. Trust you're doing right, follow through by your doctors advice, get as much and as many varieties of exercise as you can get , does, not to be a gym, walking is also fine, have faith in yourself and things will work out just fine. This I do believe!??
  7. And it is easier to find bras that will help smoothly round you out as to find super- sized slingshot that aren't Grannys old white cotten, seek to cover in a pleasant manner and you don't have to take out a bank loan just to afford one m Asked why once, fitting woman said " My dear, at your size it isn't pure manufacture, it is also engineering!" I was peeved at such a statement but there was at least 5 or 6 grains of truth there.
  8. And how are you doing now @ heidiejenkins in the month of March?
  9. Yeah and you know for you, it works. Do you know, many epilepsy drugs will say, "We don't know for sure how this works, we only know it does." Strange but I suspect in the future I will also be a unicorn, as I am a 6 months RnY myself.
  10. @makisue, where in Ohio are you? I'm in Mount Vernon, almost dead center, and sending good wishes your way! I have a cousin with his birthday the same day as your surgery. 2 of my aunt's have had holiday deliveries, 2 Friday to 13th, one Groundhog Day, the other Leap Year day, Halloween, New Years eve and Mothers Day. And my birthday is the day after Christmas. As far as I know, none were induced or c- sections, just the way things turned out for them.
  11. Happy Ketosis luv, your body is now burning off fat. My breath, either I have gotten used to it, it's. my armpits, they are my bugaboo, washed with soaps, alcohol the. ( in theory to kill off skin bacteria) put baking soda there, by might call I have the same smell, rather like onions , garlic and a subtle rotting undertone. But it is what it is , on my 4th or 5th different antiperspirant/deodorant, the Arm and Hammer seems to do the best, family has never complained about it but I think I can constantly smell it. And I am also RnY but 6 months out now. Maybe my burden to bear, but I do like the 70 pounds that are no longer a part of me!
  12. It will, some things become second nature, and with each pound. gone, the life energy gets stronger, hopefully the pain starts moving out, and you say I AM THAT STRONG***I WON'T GIVE UP NOW***And maybe like many of us you will declare " Best Thing I Ever Did For Me" oh my recovery has not been what I expected, but I can say with the rest it is better what I still go through than the sick, defeated obese and ready to give up and die old lady I used to be. i wish the planets had been in alignment and my AhA moment would have come sooner, I don't know how much life I have gained. into will live each moment with resolution and gratitude, that this 73 year old was even given the chance, many programs would not have touched me even if I were covered in sparkle dust or had $20bills sticking out of both ears. God's Richest Blessings on Ohio State University and my wonderful surgeon Bradley J. Needleman MD. May they continue to help others as they have helped ME!
  13. #27 I am going to loosen and untie all the knits from my Life Rope, The could- nots, will- nots, should- not, can-not and most of the great big Am- not. You see, I really am committed enough, willing enough, deserving enough to achieve what Bariatric Goals set forward, I have the strength enough yo keep on when others say I can give up, relax, and save myself from sorrow. I have too far to go anyway but forward. Can't read what it says at the finish line(blasted bifocals) but I can see a shiny light and as I get closer the words will become clearer, but I will gain nothing by standing still, so I'll continue forward as long as I live.???
  14. Never apologize to the people who so misunderstand you for today is your day and you make the decisions for you now. Go forward brave and strong. You can do it!
  15. And please keep us updated as time passes, we will want to celebrate with you!?
  16. the 5 states are Alabama, Arkansas,Indiana, Vermont and Wisconsin,so if you are in any of those states I'm sure you could be prosecuted also.
  17. Did you know it is illegal in 5 U.S. states? Not dicouranged, just flat out illegal for ingestion. I would say that is a slippery slope to be snow- boarding on! But your money, your life, it is just if anything happens your family will mourn you and we all will miss you on Bariatric Pal ?
  18. And please Dear Lord, convince one of the companies not every post- bariatric patient can, want or desires peanut butter or chocolate in or slathered on top, I cannot tolerate on and badly allergic to the other, unless I go to Luna or even Fiber One , low calorie but also low protein , in the regular WL aisles I get a fuzzy lollipop out of the deal, both of these are denture tolerant just not the best choices. And so infrequently if at all. And protein shakes, been on them since last August, most have lost their charm but my ulcers and stomal structure preclude solid proteins pretty much. Promises are made within 6 weeks or so things will be back at everyone else's start of progression stages. We Shall See, won't we?
  19. Oh how lovely to stop after 3 days, since many of us are on a lot longer.
  20. Keep in mind post surgery, be it sleeve or GBP, you will not have sufficent gastric acid to digest calcium carbonate, which is what Tums are. It's your money and choice whether you want to poop out the cost of them continually. But you will have to switch to Calcium citrate capsules/pills or the liquid form Wellesse I now take. There's a wealth of post- surgery info to learn out there that you have to learn, for you now become a refined, remodeled and renovated personage from before.
  21. And WE are all blessed reading your story, I'm praying only Good Things are yours from this day forward. Your 30s are going to be the 20s you never had; and now you are facing forward into a Good Future! Keep us all updated as time moves forward.??
  22. Would that be near to where they pulled out your stomach of you were a sleeve? Maybe re- enforcing stitching there. Or the had to stretch the view port extra big to see everything in your abdomen?
  23. Odd when my children were babies, they pushed yolks because of the food value but warned against whites because of the high allergy values. Old saying is: what goes around comes around again, but this time it got warped in the transition! Got love medical? advice sometimes!
  24. A piece of advice I came across today "I do not ask you to save me; I ask only that you walk by my side and emotionally support me as I save myself."
  25. Congratulations on surgery well-done, I wish for you a Stellar Recovery and a wonderful post-life. God bless and keep you all!
