  1. That would require me behaving myself. Instead I've just gone off the rails, eating whatever my carb loving self desires. I sometimes try to focus on protein, like having my burgers protein style, or snacking on meat and cheese (those meat and cheese roll ups you can buy everywhere are great) It's all very strange. I came back from vacay with a new low weight. Not too unexpected due to all the walking I did. It went up slowly, which I was fine with. Was away for a full week with lots of poor choices + alcohol. I was pretty afraid to jump on the scale this morning, but found I lost two lbs (but still above my low weight) So for now, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. I'll just log everything and weigh myself, and see how long this lasts.
  2. I agree with this. I had food funerals for the three weeks between my approval and surgery date. It didn't hinder my success post WLS, but there are other who did not have food funerals, who have been equally successful.
  3. Hi ... I follow along! Work is just all consuming right now. I'm also not really doing IF, except when I do it inadvertently, just eating late in the day due to being busy. I am also in a weird place because I'm trying not to lose more weight. But on the topic of protein, here are a couple of interesting articles http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20180522-we-dont-need-nearly-as-much-protein-as-we-consume http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20190116-a-high-carb-diet-may-explain-why-okinawans-live-so-long I am also not a natural protein eater, so I hope that I am not making myself frail and weak in my old age by skimping on my protein requirements
  4. Look at me, making good choices! ? Seared Ahi
  5. That's stomach acid. Are you on a PPI?
  6. Trader Joe's 0% Greek High protein, low cal
  7. I just wanted to share how absolutely ecstatic I am to have had this surgery. I was never deeply unhappy with my weight pre-surgery. I mean, I wanted to be thinner, but lived a happy, successful, fulfilling life. For the most part it was the little things that annoyed me about being overweight, not being able to wear cute clothes, feeling self conscience when I order a non-salad at a restaurant, etc.. The only time my weight truly bothered me was while vacationing. I hated not getting the most out of my travel, and holding my friends back with the physical limitations my weight entailed. I just returned from a fantastic vacation, and it occurred to me how dramatically happier my weight loss has made me. I didn't have any thoughts at the back of my head about being the "fat American". I walked for miles and miles everyday and it didn't phase me a bit, no foot pain, no exhaustion, nothing. I was the one suggesting to walk vs. take an Uber. Thinking about it also made me realize how having all those negative thoughts about my weight being gone from inside my head has improved my daily life as well. I don't feel guilty when I sit next to someone in an airplane. I don't have to switch to flats as soon as possible after a meeting. I can wear pencil skirts and sheath dresses. When I see a stranger looking at me, I now assume it's for a good reason, not because my size makes me stand out. I no longer snore, and don't feel self conscience sleeping with my bf. Sooo many little things that really add up!
  8. I'm am honestly grateful for it everyday!
  9. Congrats Fluffy! I'm happy to have shared this journey with you!
  10. Tacos, did you say tacos?? Ensenada style, fried fish with cabbage and crema! This was comfortably full, for me
  11. From top left Fresh OJ, Omelet, various breads and crackers, fuul (stewed, mashed and seasoned fava beans), tamiya (Egyptian version of falafel, mad with fava beans instead of chickpeas), french fries (this seemed weird!), cucumbers and tomatoes, potato salad with egg, sliced cheese, labneh with diced mild peppers (thick, rich, non-tangy yogurt), yogurt, jam, oranges, bananas, laughing cow cheese, sesame paste candy This was definitely the most elaborate breakfast we had. But all the components, except the fries, we saw in various breakfasts, but not usually all at the same breakfast.
  12. Hello! So I'm back from vacay, and trying to un-bury myself from work, with little success! All is well here! Vacation was AMAZING, real life, not as much so! ? I'm actively trying not to do IF at this time, as I'm trying to stop my weight loss. But I inadvertently do a good part of the time, just due to being busy and put off eating my first meal until afternoon. One thing I find absolutely true about IF though, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. On vacay I ate breakfast every day, plus snacks, late night meals, etc. I started waking up hungry, and would become hungry shortly after having a meal. When I'm on my normal routine this is totally not the case. I may not need IF right now, but I'm excited to have a strategy when and if I have any regain.
  13. That is awesome @FluffyChix! I'm excited for you!!!
  14. I wonder if this has played a role in my weight loss. I was concerned I had wrecked my metabolism because I was so low cal, so many days. But it was always mixed in with higher cal, higher carb, etc. days due to travel. I may have inadvertently done a version of 5:2, but with overall lower cals?
  15. Egyptian Breakfast... more elaborate than our previous! Before and after with one tiny tum & one normal tum. Totally not IF related ... but .. whatever!
  16. Thanks Fluffy and O&D! I’m on vacay, that’s why I haven’t been around lately!
  17. Today (well depends on the time zone I guess!) is my one year surgiversary. So glad I made this decision. I’m enjoying my life so much more, and I was reasonably content before! ??
  18. After only ... Egyptian bteakfast
  19. @sideeye You look great! Are those comfortable flats/wedges? I need details, please!
  20. Also chiming is, easy surgery, no complications whatsoever
