Counting Carbs
If your carb counting, only net carbs. Net carbs are fiber and/or sugar alcohols which our bodies cannot process.

My first 5K
keep at it and your lungs will acclimate to the jogging. I was the same when i started, you can even repeat a workout if need be and then move to the next one. As for the treadmill, I find outside easier to jog than on the treadmill, minus road hazards such as cars and people, I enjoy going to my local park that has a course, or my local high school track.

My first 5K
Almost 9 months out. Had surgery in early March. Started to jog somewhat (very little) after getting cleared by my doc at the 3 month.Around October I said I would do my YMCAs Turkey trot. I got the Couch25K app by Active and started training October 7th. The plan is for 9 weeks but the turkey trot was going to be in less time. By week 7 you are 5 min warm up, 25 min jog, and 5 minute cool down. I figured I'd be good if I paced myself. I am super stoked and am going to do my next one for New Years. My siblings have all agreed to do it as well.

My first 5K
My son and I did our first 5K on Thanksgiving morning. My goal was to finish it in under 45 minutes, I finished it in 37:44. I’m super stoked and can’t wait until my next one.

Protein shakes??
Premiere Protein Strawberry is my favorite. To me it tastes like Strawberry Quick, which I loved as a kid. Second is banana, then chocolate. My wife's favorite is Peaches and Cream and I can't stand the Caramel.

How exactly does bypass change your fat metabolism?
@Wanda247 the article would not apply to you or I in regards to metabolism changes since we are sleeve patients. The article is talking about changes to bypass patients because of the alteration in the GI tract. Thanks for sharing the article @Kimmie K, it is a good read.

Driving
I drove 4 days after, but was uncomfortable until about a week after, I drive a manual Transmission and the shifting was a bit of a pain.

Any Dramatic Career Changes Post-Op?
It is true. I have noticed that people I interact with at work and socially are more inclusive with me now and talk more often. @Matt Z you are right that women and men do notice and act differently than pre surgery. I also wonder how much we changed as well not only in attitude, I for one dress up a bit more than I used to as well as changed my hairstyle from short spikey never combed to a nice style with a fade.

Looks, Health, Mobility, Longevity.....Rank these motivations for surgery
Health - I was lucky only to have Diabetes but did not want to tempt fate, so I decided to make changes in health Family - I want to be a role model for my kids in health and was failing miserably Longevity - I want to be around my Family and future additions Mobility - I was mobile pre surgery, hiking, camping and stuff. Now its just so much easier and I'm not the last one slowing down the group Roller Coaster - its been years and am looking forward to going to Six flags soon. Also am looking into Skydiving Looks - never really bothered me, but I have noticed attitude changes in people I knew, they are more inclusive than before surgery. It could also be me being less shy Romance - I'm happily married and have no concerns in this department.

It's a great feeling...
It is a bit funny, people that never talked to me before the surgery now do, women and men.

5k Run! 6 months post op!
I am also using a Couch to 5K Active App. Friday I completed week 5 day 3 and it was a 5 min warm up, 20 min jog, and 5 Min cool down. That is the longest I have jogged since high school. Today I start Week 6 and hope to be ready for my local Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning which I signed up for. My goal is to be able to jog the whole thing under 45 minutes. These posts are inspiring and led me to take this on.

I use this one a day https://www.amazon.com/Bariatric-Multivitamin-Capsule-Gastric-Surgery/dp/B00JREK09G Also 2 Viactiv chews through out the day. My 6 month labs came back great and my doctor was impressed with the vitamins. It is a pill so make sure you can handle it, i know some people can't.

Help, I'm hungry AGAIN!
They could be if overeaten. Even healthy foods can be over consumed. Here are some snacks Intakt Snacks Cheese Lover from BP vs Lays Classic. The BP snacks are less carbs overall and more protein but the package (2 servings) is the same as one small bag of chips 28g, as for calories the chips are 10 calories less than the whole Intakt Bag. Not saying I recommend the Lays over the Intakt snack. I suggest you food log everything you consume. Logging holds me accountable for my food intake and I can review what is working and what I need to take out, and I log everything from a bite of cheesecake to my protein shakes and salads including dressing and condiments. I have been logging for over a year now and am 8 months out of surgery today. Good luck.

Do you have a Treat, what is it, and how often.
Sugar free Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. Just be careful with sugar alcohols.

Happy Hallosleeve Everyone!!! Proud of self.
I wasn't sure how it was going to go. But I said no candy for me and I stuck to it. My son brought back a great haul and was offered a Reeses cup (my favorite, he did not know I was not having any) and I told him no thanks. I felt proud for making it through the season candy free. The rest of the Holidays have nothing on me.

I don't think I'm ready ):
I had considered sleeve 8 years ago. Took the program and decided to not to have the surgery. I realized 2 truths between then and now: I should have had surgery then, seeing the benefit of it now, except; I'm glad I didn't because mentally and maturity wise I was not ready for some of the changes as you have stated in the first post You need to really be committed to yourself. It's hard to change and let go. Don't do it until you come to terms with you and are ready. Good luck!

What do you eat for lunch?
in a pinch i have these on hand as well very good and fulfilling, i know its not the best but they work. Usually it'll be left overs from the night before. I also have these lipton cup of soup packs that are 60 calories in case i don't have something on me or change my mind with lunch, just watch the sodium. I also have the $1 pot pies from the market. they are high calorie but what i do is eat the inside and leave the crust. again these are for times i ran out the door and need a little something at work.

Eating & drinking at the same time??
This has been my biggest hurdle. Before surgery I would drink about 3-4 glasses of liquid with a meal. I started bringing it down prior to surgery. I recently had water the other day and it over filled me and made me feel sick. What I have been told in my pre surgery classes and post surgery support group that liquid can stretch the sleeve making more room for food.

Kaiser Permanente
Kaiser So Cal as well. Has been a smooth trip so far. i'm 7 months post Op and doing great. The after surgery support group is the best.

Anyone try Baritrack Vitamins
I use ProCare Health Bariatric Multi every morning. Not only is the cost great but easy to go down if you can handle swallowing a pill. It is a one a day and my numbers came back great at my 6 month checkup, using it since month 4. It is also available as a 30 day supply for less, I did that at first to try them out. I then take a chew-able calcium later in the day.

Post Op food
When trying new foods try one at a time. For example the egg and Greek yogurt. Try the yogurt on its own then the egg, that way if one gives you a problem you'll know which it is. My surgery was performed by Kaiser, here is the link to the Bariatric teams website with info on diet, meal plans and shopping lists and other useful help Kaiser Bariatric After Surgery Page. Hope this helps.

7 month stall (need advice)
Plateaus happen for us. Read up on this Getting past the Plateau so you can better understand them. You may very well be inducing the plateau. I had a 5 week stall 3 months ago. @FancyChristine15 is right. My nutritionist had me go from 1000 cal to 12-1400 a day because the amount of exercise I was doing. She said that the body starts to go into starvation mode because your calorie intake is way less than your output and the body is trying to balance itself. She had me add healthy fats such as nuts or all natural peanut/almond butter for a bit more calories without the amount being to much for my sleeve. Also try some whole grains in your diet. Don't go overboard but a single slice of bread with a bit of nut butter of your choice prior to a work out will help out alot and you will burn through the carbs during the workout. Also if you are doing the same workout routine try changing it up. Congrats @Fhroa you are doing great, keep it up.
