  1. My tip is if your bariatric team offers any sort of support group, check it out. Besides that, stick to your eating plan and exercise/move daily.
  2. It’s been over 20 years since I had owned a skateboard. Went out yesterday and bought a board and some gear to get back into it.
  3. @FancyChristine15 is right about air. After surgery I would sip the water, exhale, and then swallow the water did that for the first 2 weeks until it became easier drinking water again. I actually still do that after a workout or activity when I am breathing hard so I don't suck in air which is still uncomfortable after 1 year.
  4. I would recommend weighing and logging your food. I did a quick count based on average serving size and what was posted. I calculated about 1600 calories a day. If this what you eat daily and you're working out the same , your body has reached a balance, hence a plateau. You need to either reduce calories or up your exercise. That should throw the body out of its routine and get you going again. Not sure what your exercise routine is the 3 days but maybe include 40-50 minute walk daily, if time is constraint have like 4-5 10 minute walks throughout the day. Good luck.
  5. These bars taste great. Even the ones I don't prefer still taste good. https://builtbar.com/ As for the 1 cup, that is a recommendation for serving size. If you can't finish it leave it. Take cues from your body when full, I know i'm reaching fullness when I get a sniffle in my nose, strangest thing but it works for me. ?
  6. Congrats on the surgery. As @FancyChristine15 said above, we shouldn't make it an all or nothing type thing or we will eventually break. For me it's not a "I can't have this" but more of a "Should I have this". I'm a little over a year out and I food log and calorie count my intake. For example at birthdays I decline cake but sometimes will have a bite from my wife's if I want to try it, and I log that as well. For my birthday this year my wife picked me up a cupcake of carrot cake (its my favorite) I ate half and had the other half later that night. I still enjoyed my favorite cake but kept to a controllable portion and none left over to graze later. Good luck on your journey.
  7. My only kind of regret (as corny as it sounds and has been said before on these forums), is not having had done this sooner. I looked at bariatric surgery 9 years ago and decided it was not for me at the time. I feel mentally at that time I was not were I am today and feel my maturity today is part of my success.
  8. My skin is not as bad as I thought it would be and I feel that exercise and strength training has helped most of it. I expected worse based on my starting weight. I am almost 41.
  9. Went to the boardwalk today and took a picture with my son were we always do. Here I am almost 2 years ago near my heaviest weight and today 1 year and 3 weeks after sleeve surgery. It’s crazy to me to see the pictures side by side.
  10. I want to thank you for your videos. They helped me on what to expect during my first year.
  11. Everyone is looking great! I’m a little over a year since surgery. Here is a shot from May 2017 and today.
  12. Remember you don't need to finish all of it, that was the hardest part for me to learn. Also listen to your body, I have learned when approaching fullness my nose gets a sniffle and that's the sign for me to stop. ?
  13. here are some sample menus and shopping lists as well Sample_Menus_Stage_3.pdf Sample_Menus_Stage_4.pdf Sample_Menus_Stage_5.pdf Sample_Menus_Stage_6.pdf shopping_list_stage_1_2.pdf shopping_list_stage_3.pdf shopping_list_stage_4.pdf shopping_list_stage_5.pdf
  14. Here is some info from Kaiser (my plan is them). Always check with your team if unsure, but hopefully this will help. post_bariatric_surgery_diet_info.pdf
  15. I know you are early on but when using mayo, my nutritionist recommends mixing it with Greek yogurt. 1 part mayo to 3 parts yogurt. less fat and calories and the mayo gives its flavor to the mayo. perfect in egg salad, tuna salad , chicken salad etc later on.
  16. They are great, the mint and orange are my favorites. Even the flavors I'm not a fan of like the salted caramel are still good. Plus they are soft compared to most bars.
  17. My wife ordered these and they are amazing in flavor as well as low calorie and a great selection. Check out the stats, and remember that these have almost as much protein per serving with almost half the calories. ? https://builtbar.com
  18. Thanks. If you stick stick to the plan your team has and make sure to stick to it and exercise (if you can) the results will happen.
  19. Yes. Wooden church pews now do a number on my butt.
  20. You'll either burp or fart it out, walking helps.
  21. I do see it, but again we see ourselves daily so we don't see it as others who do not see us as often. What I did was take pictures, I've done this on every weight loss attempt, but I did start taking pictures every Thursday since my surgery date. When i look back I do see all the work I have put in.
  22. Careful on juicing, especially if using fruits as you can start exceeding calories. My Nut recommends smoothies over juices since the fiber is what makes you full and is beneficial. She also says to keep fruit to a minimum and use veggies more for bariatric patients. This is here Instagram https://www.instagram.com/nutritune/ , she also shows us how to adapt some of recipes she has and make them bariatric friendly
  23. I feel you. I watch youtube and TLC and watch people where they are now. I had surgery around the same time as you, it's that one year since surgery that is making you think about it, at least it is for me. Looking back at this past year I know the surgery was a big help/tool that lowered the amount of food I can take in, but the changes I have made in food choices and personal fitness are going to be for life and that was all me, not the surgery. Remember that the surgery was a help, but YOU are the change in your life. After the honeymoon phase its all on us. ?
