The incredible world of thrift stores. Went from a size 46 waist to a 34. Shirt size from 3XL or 18.5 neck to 15.5 neck or L in dress shirts. Will not spend over $3-$5 per item. Having a blast finding great items that fit. Always felt guilty going to big and tall just to overpay for khaki expandable pants. Love getting my wife's attention each morning I walk out the door for work. Only regret, I did not get the sleeve sooner. Gained all my weight from 25-44. Almost made it to 300lbs. Ugh...Now back to 185. You can do this too!!!

I couldn't resist taking a photo the other day, my first since I had surgery in January. I was surprised to realise how fortunate it was that I was wearing the same top (note the paint mark on the front) that I was wearing for my pre op photo back in December.
I have a long long way to go but damn it feels so good to me looking at these two photos side by side. Last week was my first week not losing a pound - I know why. It was my birthday and my sister in laws a few days later, so cake moments were had. But it didn't feel great on the scales later when I hadn't lost a thing. I know this is part of the game so all I can do is look at photos like this, note how many more belt loops I am into and just carry on. So far so good this week

Hi! I had VSG on 4/16. I woke up in recovery for a second and was hot and in pain but immediately fell back asleep. I didn’t wake up again until I was in my private room. I was groggy and it took some time but I suggest to let yourself sleep and recover. By the next day I was much better. Just sore and thirsty. Be prepared for the changes and tell yourself you will get through this. Surgery is the easy part. Good luck!

I’m about 3 weeks shy of my 2-year surgiversary. My husband and I are expecting our 2nd child, 1st one after WLS. My surgeon’s goal weight loss was 100 lbs. I lost 90 lbs prior to this pregnancy. I still track my daily intake on MFP and make support group meeting when possible. Prior to this pregnancy I consumed about 150 less calories/day. My OB/GYN says she thinks I can make it through this pregnancy with only a 10lb weight gain. Unfortunately, any amount of weight gain terrifies me. At 18 weeks visit I was up 3 lbs . Baby is healthy, we are expecting a girl & hoping I can make it with very little weight gain and reach goal weight ASAP after our baby girl is born.

So I'm officially 1 month post op today my pain is pretty much gone at this point. However for almost the past 2 weeks my weight has been bouncing back and forth between 279&281lbs I have seen alot of people say there is no such as a stall this early on so I'm just wondering what It could be and what I have to do to change it.I'm really good at drinking the 64oz of Water per day the only thing I struggle with is those nasty Protein Shakes they make me feel nauseous.I drink the premier ones they tasted so much better before surgery...but anywho any advice is appreciated.

hey all. was it just me or did breaking the 300 barrier feel like one of life's greatest accomplishment? crossing into the 300's was like entering the abyss for me. and once i got there, i kinda spiraled to a day of surgery weight of 360!! 3 1/2 months now post-sleeve and I am now 275. just so remarkable, really. and crossing back into the 200's was one of of the greatest joys i have experienced in a long time. now i'm on a mission to cross back into the 1's (?/!).
i sincerely hope that all guys thinking about bariatric, or who have done it and need to come out of the 3's experience the same sense of satisfaction and joy that i did.
just what was on my mind today.

I'm one month today and have been seeing a VERY incremental loss over the past two weeks (<5lbs over 2 weeks), a lot of little up-and-down flutters. Annoying but not the end of the world - I'm not going to worry until my surgeon starts worrying.

Remember ,you have put your body through a lot. It is spending a lot of time trying to figure out what the hell you did to it. You will start to lose again. Give it time to sort out what is going on.

I joined LA Fitness today and I went on the elliptical machine for 15 minutes. First time in a gym in four years and it felt good just to join and go. Tomorrow, I will aim for another 15 minutes but on the bicycle to use different muscles and do something non-weight bearing. I am thinking that the gym will be kind of like AA. All I need is the desire to get activity and to just keep coming back. Simple enough, right?

Three month ago, I decided to radically change my life and started on this weight loss journey.
What i realized is that even more important to the 52 lbs and 33 inches I have lost is all that I have gained.
I gained health. I am no longer an insulin dependent diabetic. In fact, I’m not a diabetic at all. I have a normal blood pressure without any pills, my cholesterol is “stellar “ according to my doctor who was ready to put my on meds for that too. I no longer need anti anxiety meds or sleeping meds.
I gained energy. Lots of it. I used to come home after work and sit staring at the tv all night until 8, when Elijah would go to bed, so I could too.
I gained confidence. I realize my own worth. And my own value. I realize that getting my hair and nails professionally done is something I CAN treat myself with, instead of food.
I gained self control. I just spent a week visiting NH where all of my favorite foods were at my fingertips. I tried one bite of two different Desserts, then realized they were not as important to me as the company I was with. I enjoyed wonderful conversations with those at my table, and the food meant almost nothing.
I gained an appreciation for those in my tribe. Those who support me, love me and are honest with me, even when things are hard to hear. I no longer feel the need to be defensive, for I know they are not out to hurt me, but help me.
I found me. And I’m happy.

Today I am exactly 4 weeks out. I was sleeved 3/12. I am down 22lbs! I can't believe it. I'm more excited about how I feel though. My energy is crazy, I'm so much happier, and the feeling of being full is amazing. It is something I have truly never experienced.
I can't wait to see what else this life change will bring me.
