I reference this chart frequently! I think weight loss is always super fast in the beginning because you lose Water and inflammation. I lost 12 pounds my second week post sleeve and since then it’s slowed down to about 2 pounds a week with the occasional 3-4 pound week thrown in.

I would call your surgeon, be honest, and ask what they think. You don’t want to be cut open unnecessarily if they’re just going to send you home. They may say it’s fine and just stick to it from now until surgery.

Totally normal. I “gained” 10 pounds post op, mostly from fluids and swelling. It was all gone within 10 days.

Personally, I would focus on something that you can maintain for life. Do you really think you can spend the rest of your life eating meat only and no fruits or vegetables?

Constipation is also a major issue post WLS. I don’t think I could manage mine without a lot of fruits and veggies as part of my diet.

I think you can, but you automatically develop diabetes since you can no longer produce insulin?

I hope you end up feeling like the surgery was a positive thing! I’m not quite 3 months out and had complications as well. I had a gastric bleed, needed a second surgery and blood transfusions, plus had a full liter of blood just sitting in my abdomen.
I’m down 45 pounds today with no lingering issues and feel great. I’m able to do intense exercise in a way I haven’t for years. My complication was super scary and I initially had some regrets, but looking back I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Hang in there! Best of luck to you.

I have a feeling he'll be back with a new account. Even with his old account, he changed the name at least a few times.

Well he has said he doesn’t have much luck with the ladies. The problem is that he thinks it was because he was fat, when in reality it’s because he has a terrible personality.

I’m only 3 weeks post op so I haven’t had my levels checked yet. But I was gaining weight no matter how much I dieted and exercised. My primary doc was the one who suggested weight loss surgery because she saw me struggling so much and my thyroid function was continuing to tank. I also have 2 other autoimmune diseases.
Including my 1 week pre-op diet I’m down 30 pounds.

That seems really low. I’m also 10 weeks post op, down 45 pounds, but I’ve been at 1000 calories a day for the last 2 weeks. I exercise a lot which may factor into things, but I’d still think you’d be around 800?

Pssst...in case you missed it, this thread is in the gastric sleeve forum AND isn’t about you. So why don’t you take your toxic personality, for which there is no surgery to fix, and go find some other thread to poison with your opinions and gross attention seeking.

Not really a helpful comment, is it? One would assume that she and her doctor discussed the surgeries and made the best choice for her situation. Just because she isn’t starving herself, only consuming Protein Drinks, and dropping weight quickly does not mean she has the wrong surgery. Your case isn’t the norm, especially amongst women.

Some thoughts you should either keep in your head or type out if you must and then don’t hit “send”.

It’s only been 3 weeks. You’re still healing. There are literally thousands of results online if you Google “3 week stall.”

The risk of gastric leak is around 1 in every 200 surgeries. Patients are explained the risks. I signed a paper before being wheeled back acknowledging that I realized I could have complications and potentially die. I did end up with a massive GI bleed and the beginning of sepsis. Would do it again.

colormehappy got a reaction from locura79 in Your Dr.'s goal weight/BMI for you?
My doctor didn’t give me a goal, but there are studies that show that 27 is a healthy and comfortable BMI for many people, despite the charts recommending lower.
My personal goal is 165. I have been that weight in my adult life and was happy there, despite my BMI being 27 and technically overweight. I think it really comes down to personal preference. I would rather not be super thin.
