  1. LOL.. yeah, I had a friend who basically called me lazy and said I wasn't trying hard enough when I told her I was going to do the lapband!! LOL.. Then I decided to get sleeved, she promised to stay a night at the hospital w/ me and didn't show up or call until 3 weeks after surgery!!... Later, she and I saw each other at a party and e'one else was raving about how good I looked and how much weight I'd lost, her comment was... You're gonna be something else when you get skinny".. in a very negative and sacastic manner... I responded, Honey, I'm already something else, something good and I'm getting better!! I've learned that people who are either afraid, in denial or unwilling to take the risks and put in the work to change, are envious of those of us who do... You are brave... she's giving you a compliment... in an awkward manner, but a compliment nonetheless!!
  2. Happened to me too..I believe it's the release of hormones that are stored in fat cells... You'll be fine.. it takes a minute to stabilize... but you'll be fine!!!
  3. Awesome job!!!!! Congrats and welcome to VST!!!
  4. Congrats!!! Blessings and peace to you!!! Check in when you can!! YEAH!!!!...
  5. Buy a crockpot, a very good non-stick skillet and some kind of covered baker... I can cook, but when I don't feel like doing much.. I throw some smoked turkey, beans, seasoning and water in my crockpot and forget it!!! Same w/ the covered baker... meat, veggies, seasoning and leave it!!.. You can do it....
  6. Yeah.. Congrats!!! There's so such thing as ONLY a pound!!! I'm happy for you!!
  7. WOW... my prayers are with her... Hopefully everything was found early and she will be fine... I feel really blessed right now!
  8. Lissa, thanks.. I have to do something to get out this funk that I'm in... it's pretty bad!!! I just feel like BLAH!!!!
  9. I'm still waiting to fall in love w/ the gym.. well, at least fall in LIKE!!!.. I love my aqua class, but I can't take it everyday (chlorine and my skin don't mix at all!!)... 2 sometimes 3 times a week is the most I can do... I've been using my Urban Rebounder and resistance bands.. Summer break is almost here and I can hit the gym a few times a day... Maybe if I do 30 minute intervals or something...
  10. AWESOME JOB LISSA!!!
  11. NSV = Non-Scale Victory... and don't apologize for questions... that's so why we are here.
  12. WELCOME!!!! I have(well, had).. a little less than 200 to lose as well.. I hoping all goes well for you!!! I have to tell you, through all the ups and downs, getting sleeved was one fo the best decisions I've ever made in LIFE!!!!
  13. I think all of us experience that "What in the world??!!!" Moment.. most of the time it's fleeting!!! Mine was... so I thought!! LOL.. Early out 1-2 weeks.. I had thoughts that maybe I should have gotten a haircut or a tattoo or something.. but then the weight, inches and food chains started falling off... This is my thread about my first 4 days... Many have chronicled their journey here.. I hope you find the encouragement you need to start living the "Sleeved" life... Best wishes... http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/28592-day-4-post-gastric-sleeve-surgery-surgeryhospital-details/
  14. Could have been worse!!!... That's not the end of the world!!!! You're doing awesome!!!!
  15. Awesome!!!!
  16. Congrats!!! I don't think it will take that long... I was told 10-21 days and I got approved in 2 days... I called my insurance company the day after they received my paperwork....
  17. Awww.. you guys are soooo nice!!...I'm having a very interesting day.... but, your support and encouragement is truly making it bearable!!!
  18. Oh WOW.. thanks Lissa!!! I appreciate your encouragement... It's been a little rough for me lately!! However, you are a HUGE motivator for me... I am looking forward to my 100 pound mark!!! Just trying to stay encouraged and on the right track...
  19. Hey Guys... So, I started a new PT job several months ago as a Karaoke Host/DJ... the company that I work for hosts an annual DJ Olympics where we have games, prizes, food and lots of DRINKS!!!... So, I participated in ALL of the games, that included a Hot Potato Relay (assembling Mr. Potatohead while racing another team back and forth across the lawn), Dart Poker, Dance Off, and musical chai to name a few.... Well, I didn't when any of them.. HOWEVER, I ran around the yard, picked up little bitty nuts and bolts, ran around the chairs (I came in second, cause I was CHEATED!!! LOL) and walked, walked, WALKED!!! Guess what?? I wasn't overly tired, my back didn't hurt and I fit in ALL of the lawn chairs w/ ease!!! I wasn't touching the sides!! I stood for hours at a time and felt really good (save a sinus headache from hanging out w/ 10 smokers for 8 hours!)... I've been a little up and down lately because of the scale... I've decided to dedicate myself to following the rules for MY SLEEVE and to enjoy this process... No, I haven't fallen in love w/ working out yet, but I love the sense of accomplishment that I get when I complete my workouts... no, I don't ALWAYS eat on schedule or the best thing every time... BUT, I try not to make the same mistake twice... if I do.. I get over it quickly and try my best to find out why I did it, ate it or bought it!!! We can do this!!! You can and WILL achieve your goals.. just stay positive and work your sleeve!!! And if you aren't dropping tons of weight, but you are gaining tons of energy, confidence and physical freedom to enjoy life, consider it a VICTORY!!! The pounds and inches will come off!! Enjoy your journey!!! Tina

  23. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!! I believe you will find lots of support and information here.. Don't worry, everything will be fine!! I almost canceled my surgery because I had 500 different scenarios and fears in my head... getting sleeved was one of the best decisions I ever made!!! Best wishes!!
  24. I only had to do 3 nutrition classes, but 6 monthly appointments w/ my WL doctor.. Best wishes and good luck!!
