MsButterflyKiss reacted to Angel11 in September Sleevers- How are you feeling??
My surgery was 09/21/17 (8 days ago). I have no hunger at all & no interest in food. Maybe that will change in the near future? Went back to work yesterday & my incisions are still very sore. As of yesterday, down 10 pounds in 7 days. I need to exercise though. I love reading everyone's posts. We are all doing great! These struggles in the beginning, hopefully will be the toughest part. I'm on the soft foods stage: Soup, yogurt, pudding & popsicles. I will say, even though, no hunger, I can't wait to be able to 'crunch' on food. I'm a chip lover Post Op & Dietician appointment this coming Monday.

If you were going to die you would have most likely died on the operating table. That's when the risk for death is at it's highest. You made it. Relax.
The longer you go out from the day of your surgery the more you will be able to eat.
As far as complications, there's not that many associated with the sleeve. It's by far the safest of the current surgeries. If by chance a complication does develop it normally develops within the first 3 months.
I think you will be fine. Just relax.

AND if I might add you said your hair is coming out in clumps. I'm sorry, but at 2 weeks out it is NOT caused by the surgery, not this soon. My guess is it's the undue stress you are causing yourself. Google stress. You will find it will do a number on your body, as well as causing death.

    Shaking my head.
To the OP -- you can be miserable for no good reason or you can act like an adult. And yes, I know you're *only* 22 years old. You're still an adult.
None of that drama llama crap you're wallowing in is going to happen.
    Just follow your surgeon's instructions.
    Jeez.

That study was from 1994 to 2004. The medical field has come a long way since then. Some of us older folks can tell you but they have found crap wrong with meat. There is crap wrong with vegetables. There is crap wrong with plastic and deodorant. One minute they tell you to take Vitamins, then a month later they tell you you get enough from what you eat and if you add to it you'll kill yourself. Unfortunately tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone.
Being at 320, I personally feel you are giving yourself a better chance at living since having the surgery. You will eat again. Trust me. I am and I just had my surgery on March 23rd. So . What do I think? I think you need to get off the internet. I don't mean to sound so rude, but if you read all the findings on everything in life.....your surgery would be the least of your worries.

This is a blog. It's complete crap. You really need to stay off the internet if you're going to fall for stuff like this. STOP.
Do you have any calming techniques you use for anxiety? If you do, you need to start to use the and stop trolling the internet for clickbait hogwash like this. NOW.

It sounds like your bariatric team let you down by not informing you better about your options and consequences. Well, you can't undo your sleeve, so you may as well hop on for the ride.
The first month is tough. Not only are you healing, but your body which has been used to indulging itself, is now being told "no" or "let's find an option for that".
Hopefully your surgeon gave you a meal plan to follow that will graduate you from liquids, to purees, to soft mushies, to regular cooked food. For many of us that takes four to six weeks.
You will feel so much better when you start soft mushies and may start to get some energy back. The foods that you have to leave behind are the ones that really weren't food at all. Instead of nutrition for your mechanical human body that your soul lives in, you were probably eating mostly factory edibles made from highly processed ingredients.
Now you can focus on what it takes to keep a human being alive. You will find that the human body does not need nearly as much food as we thought it did to thrive from day to day. As the pounds drop off, you will feel more encouraged that maybe you did do the right thing and will have a better quality of life because of it.
Worry is a waste of time. Poo poo happens in this life, whether it is spraining an ankle or getting reflux, or something more tragic and heart-breaking.
Hang in there kiddo. You have already made it through two weeks and lived to tell about. Keep coming here for encouragement. I wish you good luck and good health.

I am so sorry you are experiencing such distress. Many people go through a period of regret right after surgery for a variety of reasons: hormonal fluctuations, the shock of surgery on the system, the fact that you cannot use food to regulate moods and emotions, etc.
I would suggest that this is a good opportunity to look for a good counselor or therapist to help you learn to cope in a healthy way. See if the person who did your psych clearance can see you or refer you to someone.
Whether you want to or not, you cannot turn back the clock and change what happened. The good news is that you have no choice but to move forward: you get to decide how well you follow your program and learn to make the most of this opportunity.

I am 9 months post op and going through a dicorce. We would have been married for 10 years in September. After having surgery and loosing weight I gained some self confidence and my eyes were suddenly open to how emotionally abusive he was and to all the classic warning signs that he was cheating.

It is no secret that bariatric surgery exposes the raw dynamics of our relationships. That is not necessarily a bad thing. People just can't keep their mouths shut and you will very quickly find out what people really think about you. Then you have to deal with it and distance yourself from toxic interaction.
People that you thought were your friends can be mean and unsupportive.
Family can be mean and unsupportive.
Workmates can be mean and unsupportive.
Often when a marriage breaks down after you begin to lose weight, it was already broken before your surgery. Insecurities and jealousies can only hide for so long.
As you lose weight you gain confidence. Spousse find out that you can speak up for yourself, and they don't like it. They may throw roadblocks in your way, like deliberately bring home junk and eating it right in your face. The balance of control in a marriage can change.
So, just be prepared for what may come. If your mate can't be supportive of you being healthy and happy, then they don't deserve to be with you. You will either have to fix or flee.

Advice: don't weigh yourself every day!
However, this isn't advice I personally can follow, so instead I try to only worry about it once a week. You'll have periods where it stops, and then jumps down. My biggest was after a vacation where I'd been RIDICULOUSLY active and probably didn't drink enough Water. I came home after 2 weeks and had not lost a pound.
Weighed myself again 2 days later and I lost SEVEN POUNDS.
Little things in your life can impact it. I wouldn't worry unless you've stopped losing for a month or so.

I mean would you feel differently? Would anybody?
Honest question, why did you have the surgery? Was it 100% because it would improve your health and nothing else? Or was it also because you wanted to lose weight and look and feel more confident and attractive?
Just reading the posts on here you'll notice many people want to lose weight and look more attractive, so I don't think it's unreasonable to fault a spouse for appreciating that fact as well.

Plus I mean there's all other kinds of stuff that could do the same thing in a relationship. A new hair style/color tattoo etc etc. I think his behavior is perfectly acceptable and normal

Ever since I had my surgery my husband has been overly affectionate towards me. Yes I do love this new found affection!!! But it makes me wonder, was I not good enough before my surgery??? Am I in a superficial relationship??? I have always been happy knowing my husband loves me for me not my exterior!!!! SMH!!! (I have no intention or desire to leave my husband)

So I am 6 weeks post. And I feel super normal. Like, according to my Dr. I should be still not able to eat much, not be able to handle carbs or sugars. But NOPE. I can eat whatever within reason... still get that full feeling and when eating too fast can overeat and get that gross pain feeling.
Anyways, I am now capping my calorie intake to 1000 because if I don't watch it, those slider foods/grazing can definitely sneak my calories higher than that.
Not that I'm complaining too much. I'm down 59lbs as of today. Which is awesome. But I am a little jealous of those who still have zero desire for food or that still have those "danger zone" foods that the stomach doesn't like. Let the mental games begin...

    Hi September Sleevers!!

I was sleeved on 9/15 I had no pain the hospital stay was very relaxing did my walks on the hospital floor had to keep up with the old Asian guy that question why I was only doing one walk around and he does 4 so my competitive side came out and I had to do 5 rounds. Lol!

Came home on 9/17 on a full liquid diet my shakes I could handle the first day and a half then my taste buds didn't want any so I had to try several different ones to get my Protein. I'm kinda cheating substituting a shake meal for a yogurt that has 15grams. I've so far walked everyday and today I finally let out a tiny baby size pebble of poop so at least that still works.

Good Luck everyone!! You got this!
