Yes, too high. You need to talk to a coordinator in the billing office and explain your dilemma. Quite often the hospital will be willing to write off part of the bill.

I've had several colonoscopies through the years--this is just the first after my RNY. I probably should call my bariatric surgeon's office to see if there is anything in the prep peculiar to bypass patients. Izucks, the prep sheet I have has the same directions as the one you posted.

I definitely wouldn't drink anything past midnight, then. GAWD that's early! I hated having to wait until the afternoon, but I don't think I would want to go in at 0-dark-thirty, either!

Hang in there! It will come sooner than you think. I had to wait three months and it passed with frightening speed! Come here often to learn all you can. It's not as scary if you know what to expect. You got this!

Awww, what a handsome devil! I love his little life vest. If he's like most terriers, HE'S the captain of that boat! Mine are all three rescues and older dogs. Dayna is the grand dame at thirteen, Bentley is 9 and my newest adoptee is Nibbs at 8. We just adopted Nibbs a few months ago after losing Puck, who was a few weeks shy of being 17. We decided to start adopting the older guys when we realized a younger dog could outlive us, so from here on out we'd get the geriatric ones, like us! I'm not very computer savvy and I'm not sure how to post pictures. But take my word for it, they are gorgeous! At least to me, anyway...I might be a BIT biased...

My surgery wasn't until 3 pm so they said I could drink 8 ounces of a liquid in the morning before 9 am. So I guess it depends on what time your surgery is. Hey, you GOT this! Good luck--prayers and good vibes coming your way!

I have to get a colonoscopy in a couple of months and the information sheet has no special instructions for the prep post-RNY. I wonder if the prep's gonna give me dumping syndrome? (snerk-just kidding on that part...) I have to drink 32 oz of miralax in gatorade the first day, and then six hours before the procedure drink another 32 ounces. Seriously, have any of y'all had one, and was anything different?

Awww your doggie is adorable! Is she a wire hair fox terrier? You are cute, too...? You look pretty chipper for what you've been through. I hope Doggo knows not to step on any sore bits! My Jack Russells are just the opposite--if I have an "owie" they seem to know where to step on it! I can't wait to see some pictures after you've healed!

I sort of do the same thing--I have bought a bunch of the 4 ounce plastic containers and everything I fix get portioned into them. Now my fridge is full of little square boxes, so I just grab one at random. I still find eating enjoyable-I just get full on one half cup of food. It still tastes good!

I love Mexican food, but beans, rice, enchiladas, chiles rellenos, that sort of stuff. Not the innards of some animal...

I agree with FluffyChix. When I saw the original post all I could think was, "who would want to?".?

Before I got my RNY I didn't even think about eating--I ate when I was hungry, but didn't give it any thought. Now that I've had the RNY all I think about all day is eating--not because of hunger, but because this is such a process now! Plan all those vitamins, drink all that water, eat your protein--it seems like all day I'm either eating, taking pills, or drinking! It's certainly not mindless any more--it almost takes a day planner to get it all done. I have a pill box like an old granny lady. Does it get to the point where it is a bit more "organic" and less of a job?

Similar story--I was only a slightly pudgy pre-teen and my mother couldn't stand it. She had a doctor put me on amphetamines when I was eleven. ELEVEN! Looking back it was almost child abuse. I think if she had left me alone I would have been an only slightly pudgy adult instead morbidly obese. I still have resentment over that 'til this day and I'm 65 now. You are smart not to subject your own daughter to that!

Welcome to the forums, Maureen2u! Your story is great. It's amazing how the bypass mostly stops diabetes in its tracks, isn't it?

I had a bypass and returned to work two weeks after surgery. It was a 10 hour shift and I was EXHAUSTED. Take as long as you can!

I had a slipped lap band that had to come out and my surgeon said it was easier to revise to a RNY than a sleeve. Also I had GERD before my band, and the bypass is supposed to help alleviate GERD, where the sleeve sometimes causes it in some people. Also I had developed a "touch" of diabetes, and the bypass really helps with that. I went off metformin right before the surgery and now, only two months later, my hemoglobin A1C is normal!
