VSG on March 2,2018 pretty pleased with my new tool. HW 380, SW 315, CW 224. Have come a long ways already. With many more roads to travel. But this is one hell of a start I think. How are you other March sleepers doing?

You look great! Keep it up. I saw my surgeon Thursday. I’ve lost 105lbs. We changed my goal weight. When we first talked back in January it was 135 goal weight. Now I personally think at that weight I will look too skinny. So we agreed upon 145lbs... my primary doc agreed on Friday since I went for a physical I am not big on pics so I don’t take many. Maybe I will when I'm done

ahnormandeau reacted to Sleeve1stFitNext in Sleeve stretching paranoia? Week One VSG question
It is possible to stretch your sleeve, but that is usually once it has healed and about years out. However, some people are able to drink or eat more than others due to the size of their sleeve. Not everyone's sleeve is the same size.
One week out, I could only drink Water at 2oz a time. However, now I can drink about 6oz a time without a problem. However, food is different.
I would suggest following your nurse's orders as you are still fresh out of surgery. Do not push yourself because the worst thing that can happen is damage to your staple line.

Possibly end of February, latest March 7th. Hubby and I started this journey together. We have always based everything in our lives around everyone else. This journey is all about us. He had gastric bypass in December. After I might add he lost 43 lbs pre surgery. We started lifestyle changes at end of Aug 2017. He joined a program first. I followed first part of September. He is doing absolutely amazing. Weight loss after his surgery is moderate. Possibly because he lost so much before. Unsure at this point and it really does not matter. He has gone from a 44 waist pants to a loose 34. He is beyond happy. All his work is paying off. My incredibly shrinking man.
I am so absolutely happy to know I’m right behind him. Our new life begins!!!! BW 367 CW 320. Good luck everyone on this new beginning we have all chosen. Gonna be an amazing ride!!!!

@jenondaway lol You got me at “murdered potato.” I know it wasn’t funny in the moment but you have a way with words. Very funny.
That is full-on pressure to go to a dinner like that in month one! And could they have made it any worse?!? Pat yourself on the back please bc you did a terrific job schmoozing and acting like it was all good, not to mention eyeballing an amazing cake and not having a morsel. No doubt had you had a pinch, laughter and pointing would ensue just like with the pizza.
Your weight loss is great. Nearly 15 lbs. in one month is remarkable. Consider by month 3 at the same rate, you’ll have nearly 45 pound off. Multiply the 3 month rate x 2 and that’s 90 lbs. in 6 months. I’ve averaged 15 pounds and I’m happy with it. Initially, I felt the way you did and then just started realizing I could never drop this amount of weight each month before surgery.
You’re coworker sounds like an ass! Of course, you are not going to be “skinny” one month post-surgery. You’ll get the last laugh in 6 months plus bc your weight loss will be REALLY noticeable and you’ll be strutting your stuff. Maybe your coworker should apply her high expectations to herself.

My surgeon recommends 4 weeks minimum. If you feel great after 2 weeks, go back sooner. But I'd plan on 4-6 weeks.
As far as the pain, everyone's experience is different. 90% of my pain was in the hospital. Coming home, it was just soreness. Nothing that I couldn't handle with some Tylenol.

There's a lot of debate on the acidity thing. Honestly it comes down to how you tolerate it. I was allowed Decaf coffee as well right away if I wanted it. Generally the concern with coffee is with the caffeine. It can act as a diuretic and since the early days can be so difficult to get fluids down they don’t want you peeing anymore than you need to! But again, there are a lot of arguments to the diuretic side of caffeine. From personal experience the only issue I had was transitioning back to regular coffee from decaf. I am much more sensitive to getting caffeine jitters since surgery. I had to do ¾ decaf to ¼ regular for a while, then went to ½ and ½, and up from there. I’m a year out and actually thinking of going back to half and half because I love my coffee but it doesn’t love me back so much.

Yes full liquids. They said they will try stage 3 tonight. Protein Shakes. I did just eat about 1/4 of chicken broth. So far belly has handled it ok. Nervous eating because not sure when to stop. Didn’t want to freak my belly out. Walking is going great. I’ve made 16 trips down the halls today.

Well 3:30 in the morning. Officially started stage 1 now. Able to start little itty bitty sips of Water now every hour. Pain is not to bad. Had pain meds at midnight and don’t feel I need them right now. Walked a total of 5 laps last night. Very happy about that. Staff here is just amazing!!!
Today is going to be great!!! I can tell.

Well here I am. Was a bit of a tough day. Unending nausea even with all extra meds. Severe pain. But 6:30 pm has arrived and last cocktail of pain meds made huge difference. Was able to take a couple walks. Couldn’t get warm. 4 blankets and heat cranked up in my room with door shut. Doctor unfortunately said not going home tomorrow due to not being able to start stage 1 today. But it’s ok.
When I got on scale this morning I had hit 53lbs off. That was 28 over what doctors goal was before surgery.

Just saw the doctor. She has moved me to stage 2. Said everything looks great. Blood count is a Little low so they will watch that. Definitely staying one more night. But that’s ok. Did 4 laps in the halls this morning.
Pain has its moments. Only had Tylenol at midnight then didn’t ask for anything until 6:30 this morning. Gave me double hit. So that part is getting better as well.
