12 days post surgery. I'm not really stomach hungry, I guess I'm head hungry. Still on full liquids. Hoping to skip purée straight to soft. I know how all of you feel.

I am on my last day of preop diet. I lost 4 lbs 8 oz, notice I didn't say only lost. We need to Celebrate the small victories as victories. I was somewhat apprehensive when going in today to weight in, but it all worked out. I scheduled for surgery in the morning. @Jessie_5 I'm sure you will be fine.

@Frankette thanks so much for the encouragement. Hope all goes well for you. Actually my hunger has decreased, three more days to go. They say that after surgery the hunger hormone is gone, I hope this is true. 😁

ddhudak...I wish you a speedy recovery from your sleeve. Thank you for the kind words. I actually will be glad when my surgery is over. I am already preparing my family. From now on we will look at food for what it is. We will, for the most part eat to live not livr to eat. And you know what, since my options class with Kaiser, I don' even enjoy food like that anymore.

My surgery is also December 5th. I cheated, but felt guilty. But today is a new day. I will do this, I can do this. Also nervous about post op.

My liquid diet isn't so forgiving. Just clear liquids, protien shakes, and one 100 calorie serving of a list of three things...also liquid in texture. LOL. Fun!

I start tomorrow, and am cooking a full dinner for family Thursday. Will be hell on Earth. LOL...but I'm getting creative. I'm simmering some sage and thyme and onion and celery in my chicken broth (which I will strain off), having cream of potato Soup for my one 100 calorie thing, and some diet cranberry juice (the 5 calorie kind) Voila! Liquid diet Thanksgiving!

Newme69 reacted to Introversion in 4 days post op! Not losing a lot of weight am concerned did anyone else have this problem.
    Is this a serious question?
There's no way you can accurately determine your rate of weight loss after a whopping four days post-surgery. Your body underwent trauma and it's normal to hold onto fluids before dropping pounds.
For now, stay off the scale until four weeks post-op. The first month is notorious for stalls, plateaus, and weird changes.
Also, weight loss after bariatric surgery doesn't happen in a predictable, linear pattern. You lose a few pounds, hold onto pounds, and sometimes stall and plateau before you start losing more weight. In other words, you won't post a daily loss. Weight loss starts and stops and resumes.
I lost an average of about 6 pounds per month after weight loss surgery. However, I'm pleased with the overall outcome: I've lost 100 pounds and have been keeping it off so far.
    Good luck to you.

Pre-op surgery November 27th I'm nervous. I want so desperately to lose the weight and keep it off this time. I'm doing this by myself and I wish I had someone to exercise with. My goal is I just want to be able to run again. Even at the age of 50. My kids are all grown up. And I just want to do something for me to start my life over

The first week it was very tough - couldn’t do it. I got so worried I phoned the surgical nurse and she told me to keep trying and do the best I can. She assured me it would get easer... and it did. I’m into my second week and I’m meeting my goal.
Hang in there, it’ll get easier.

First do your research on bariatrics. I went to an educational seminar put on by my local hospital. It's hard to explain to your family if you don't understand the medical procedures and process. You also need to know If you are a good candidate and if your insurance will cover surgery.
You don't need other people to validate your decision. Keep the supportive people around you. Don't bang your head against the wall trying to convince negative people of your choices in life.
    Best of luck to you,
    Jenn

I don't want to regret not getting it because of other people opinions but I am scared. I just want to be health for myself and my kids as well as feel good about my appearance. I'm going to call my dr tomorrow to set up an appointment. Thank you.

    Hi guys,
I'm from LA and sinceeee the Dodgers are in the world series, I wanted to support my team but still dress up for Halloween...
I decided to rock some boy shorts. I WOULD HAVE NEVER worn these before surgery. I was so insecure and in hiding. I developed social anxiety and never wanted to go anywhere or do anything. But I've lost 42 lbs and feeling confident. Yes, I have stretch marks, cellulite and fat, but why does that mean I should hide myself or not get to wear what "skinny" women wear?
So I put on booty shorts and didn't care who looked, who judged, I WAS HAPPY. 185 lbs and I am loving myself. oh and GOOOOO DODGERSSSSSS!

FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR HALLOWEEN PICS TOO!

I have personal choice as my primary and Aetna better health as my secondary. I haven't brought it up to anyone yet. This is the first time Ive verbalized my want to get wls so I'm pretty unsure of how to address it with anyone including my dr.

You know what I might say to these commenters who think they're being nice by being interested but it's getting overwhelming? With a smile on your face and almost a quiet whisper, I'd lean in or step forward a little bit and say, "I'm sure you mean well, but let me ask, would you ask someone with a disease like cancer about their chemo treatments? Would you ask someone who lost a limb how hard it must be?"
One of the stigmas about obesity is that everyone tends to treat others like you were personality flawed before the weight came off, when clearly, you had a health problem (mental, emotional, physical, all of it, hey, I'm right there with you). Simultaneously they are morbidly (no pun intended) curious, but they are also using you as a mirror to their own insecurities. Unless one of these people clearly has a weight problem too, and you feel ready to say, "I'd be happy to give you some referrals if you want to go to an informational meeting but I don't feel like talking about myself anymore", I really don't think you need to tolerate this anymore.
You/we were ignored before the weight came off, we're not there for their entertainment now.
I knew a girl who was well over 400, she lost 250 lbs and then met a guy in my husband's band and they slept together and really fell hard for her. Then one day, months later, when he saw an old picture of her, with all this investment in her emotionally, even then he still dumped her. People are SO LAME when it comes to people and obesity. I am a pretty easy going person in life, but I'd kybosh this s*** at work, pronto. It's not healthy, and you're not that person anymore. You get to turn the page - so can they.
    Hugs from a empathetic reader.
