I had sleeve 2017 and having a revision to bypass Jan. 13 due to 30 lbs regain and GERD. Even Water causes heartburn. I basically sleep half sitting now. I am so nervous but hopeful.

My revision was for GERD not regain so I can’t speak to that, sorry. What I have heard is that the weight loss from VSG to RNY can be slower and lower but every body reacts differently.
I initially lost about 10/12 lbs but I have bounced back into my pre surgery range (I was already at my goal)
I am happy to say that the symptoms of GERD have not come back so I’m very happy about that.

Did you have surgery due to regain or for medical a medical reason like reflux? How much have you lost since RNY? I'd like to lose some of what I've regained, but the reflux is the main reason I'm planning on getting a revision. I just want to get an idea of what to expect.

I had a sleeve to bypass due to gerd. It feels exactly like the sleeve but I get full on a couple of ounces. I can eat spicy foods and can tolerate anything up to date. fruit skins were tough for the first two months.

I am officially one year out today -- had my surgery 11/14. On the day of surgery, I had lost 25 pounds to get from 317 to 292, and was incredibly proud of myself.
Today I'm 181. I am 14 pounds from goal at a year out. In the last month I lost 5 so -- soon maybe ?? Definitely by 18 months if nothing else.
I did a bunch of progress shots at 6 months, figure I'd add to them today!

First pick is at my heaviest; second pic is xmas day 2016, so about a year ago; third from 6 months out and the last, of course, is today!

First pic here is about 1 week post op -- I was so proud of how much I'd lost, jeeeeeez!! Second picture is around January, I think, then march, and then today, again!
    This one is painful.

I took the picture on the right the day before surgery...looking back at it now, I don't even recognize myself!

My face from my 10 year college reunion at my heaviest, and then again, today (I don't recognize myself in EITHER of these pictures, and it freaks me out just a little.
Finally, for fun, a big change -- I picked up a tennis racket again this fall. And now it's too cold to play and I'm mad, because I want to SO VERY MUCH.

I'll have to see if there are any cheap indoor courts...
Other awesome moments in my recent life:
    > seatbelts fit comfortably on airplanes
    > I can cross my legs to sit comfortably in any situation
    > didn't have to worry AT ALL about my size when going on rollercoasters at Hersheypark
    > I haven't had a clumsy fall down in months, despite an incredible amount of increased activity
    > SIZE 10-12 FROM A SIZE 24, I CAN FIT IN STRAIGHT SIZES!! went shopping at H&M and other places and realized how cheap clothes can be....
    > went from fattest friend in the group to...potentially....the thinnest..........???
14 more pounds to normal BMI, and that's what I really want more than anything else.

I'm just too excited for this milestone and I know that you all would understand how major this is. Today when I got on the scale it read 198.8! This is the first time I've been in the 100s since probably high school (but I have no idea what I weighted then). I know in junior high I was 186 and I was probably shorter than I am now so this is a pretty huge success. I've never been able to lose weight like this with all of the different diets and workout plans before. I'm so thankful for the sleeve and that my doctor encouraged me to go forward with it. Since the sleeve my high blood pressure has improved, I was able to get rid of a CPAP machine and my chronic ankle pain from a childhood injury has improved a great deal. My last vacation in December I needed to use an ECV because walking was excruciating. I had another vacation last week that was three times as long and my ankle was sore some days but I was able to keep up and walk the entire time. The entire process has been so motivating and positive I couldn't possibly ask for any more.
I've now lost 112lbs since my highest weight and I'm thrilled. I definitely hope to lose some more, likely about 30-40lbs. Hopefully this will put be in a good goal range and I can focus on maintenance. I'm a little under 7 months from surgery and it feels amazing to actually have my goal weight in sight.

I got to recreate my 'before' picture and I love having the side by side comparison. I even took the same shirt and remade it into a much smaller size!

Lacecute, stalls happen, and it sucks big time. I will say, though that you aren't eating nearly enough to jumpstart your weightloss. Your body is probably holding on to each morsel you eat, because you are in starvation mode. I had my surgery a week before you, and I eat a lot more than that. You should be eating 800 calories per day at the very least. What you listed totals about 400 calories.
Start following your program. Everything is ok with the exception of the chips of course. Eat something every 2-3 hours. Focus on Protein (more), healthy fats (you've got them), and get some Fiber in. You are going to be malnourished and constipated like crazy if you keep eating like that. You need to actually eat something at this point. Some lean protein and vegetables for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. A Premier Protein shake for 1 of your Snacks if you are still lacking in protein. Have the cashews or some fruit (berries) for another snack. If you are still under, add a small salad to finish off your day.
This is what I ate yesterday.....
Breakfast: 2 egg whites, 1/4 cup of spinach, 1veggie sausage (116 cals, 3g fat, 2g Net Carbs, 16g Protein)
AM Snack: 1 Premier Protein Shake (160 cals, 3g fat, 3g Net Carbs, 30g Protein)
Lunch: kale salad with cubed turkey (195 cals, 15g fat, 1g Net Carbs, 12g Protein)
Early PM Snack: 1 oz. raw almonds (160 cals, 14g fat, 3g Net Carbs, 6g Protein)
Dinner: 3 oz. grilled salmon with 1/4 cup chopped broccoli (185 cals, 11g fat, 1g Net Carbs, 19g Protein)
PM Snack: 2 celery sticks with 2 triangles of laughing cow cheese (85 cals, 3g fat, 1g Net Carbs, 4g Protein)
Macros: 901 calories, 49g fat, 11g Net Carbs, 87g Protein
Oh, and stop stressing also. That causes your body to hold on to fat. Cortisol is increased with stress.

Hi there I'm a 34 year old single woman with Wanderlust who is currently living in Houston TX. I have many family members who have gone through WLS but none of them live in Texas. I'd love to have a friend near my age going through the surgery around the same time (mine is scheduled for Aug) to compare stories about shopping for clothes, working out, dating, adjusting work schedules, etc. If that person happens to live near by or travels to Houston all the better, but online friends are of course also welcome!

I drank the Isopure everyday when I was on the liquid diet. During the soft stage enjoyed bariatricpal's chocolate Protein pudding. Just a packet I added fairlife milk too and gave me tons of protein. Now that I'm about a month post op I drink one Atkins mocha latte shake as a replacement for morning coffee (which I can get on Amazon's subscribe & save which makes it affordable).
As far as trying different Proteins, Quest has sample single packs you can buy from their website. I picked one or two each and had them sent to my house and I think they were about $2 each. Plus Quest does protein chips and Protein Bars which are tasty and worth a look. AND later when you are having cravings their Cheat Clean cookbook has tons of ideas for high protein amd low sugar options. Best of luck!

I have prevented a second back surgery, and life is pretty good.
I have under 15 lbs until I have a normal BMI. I started at 42.

I have finally lost 300 pounds! I have been stalled the past few months and finally lost those last 6 pounds to hit this milestone! I am so thankful to be making this journey.
It still feels like a dream to me. It's crazy how I went from having to be on oxygen 24/7 and hardly being able to cross a room without getting out of breath to being able to walk for 6 miles and still be ready to go out and do other things!
I am loving life right now and wanted to share my excitement at hitting this milestone with you!

The huge release of extra hormones don't help with our emotions. I'm two months out and know mine have to be extremely high thanks to my monthly visit turning into four. I use to work with IVF patients and can tell you that stress ( which your body is going through due to surgery and a major life change) plus too many hormones leads to depression, anxiety, hopelessness, and mood swings. Try going to your local bariatric support group meetings to talk out what you are going through or the psychiatrist that did your pre op evaluation . Hang in there. It should get better soon.

I'm about 3 months out and my surgeon told me before the surgery that many people will experience "buyers remorse". Your hormones are going crazy still at 3 weeks out, so some of these negative feelings may be attributed to it. I was a hot mess (still kind of am). I recall sitting at the table and literally crying while I ate soft foods because I was miserable. My husband can eat what he pleases and it was distressing at the time to watch him.
Eventually, this will pass. It's kind of one of the many bumps in this long journey. I don't know how open you are to therapy, but I know I wouldn't have gotten passed this hurdle without my therapist. Sometimes talking without feeling judged helps. I also don't know your prior relationship with food, so I don't know how much of a comfort it was to you. I know for me, my life was food. I used it to cope with everything and after the surgery I had to find different things to use to cope (like exercise and art).
Try to keep in your mind that this is temporary.

Honestly this isn't an easy surgery to go through for anyone.....some heal faster than others and some don't. Some people can get majority of their liquids in and others can't even meet half of their daily intake. It's a mental thing all around. Take longer walks through out the day to get your mind of the pain or just do extra things around the house. If your just moping around then that makes u think more about the negatives. 3 weeks out is a pretty decent time where u should be able to be out and about with friends. And reading your never going to eat your favorite foods again is bs. I know people personally who've had a successful surgery and have dropped over their goal weight and still have cheat days. It's all about you controlling yourself and saying ok I'm full I'm not going to continue eating this. When your able to eat regular foods again, meal prep for the week and then Friday or Saturday have a cheat meal and then get back on your meal prep the next day. Because if you just give up and just binge eat on all the bad foods that got u where u were before the surgery then the surgery was just pointless you know? It's all in your control! Just think of your goal weight and where u want to see yourself! Or even buy an outfit that u want to fit in by next summer and that can be another motivation for u! Don't give up because I'm rooting for you and I know you can do this...be strong for yourself and push through! [emoji1377][emoji171]

I'm doing much better. They finally got my naseoua under control and that made all the difference. I was released last night and was excited to be home
But of course now Houston is expecting a hurricane and my well laid out recovery plan has gone out the window. I have to figure out where I'm willing to evacuate to since the roommates who were going to be my caretakers this week are leaving town. Perfect timing!
So other than all this drama I'm trying to focus on my liquids and staying hydrated. I dont know what full feels like yet so still not pushing things. Glad to hear you are doing better.
