I have my surgery on Tuesday too and I am experiencing the same apprehensions as you. But I am excited for the future. I think the choice I am making will benefit me more than staying the size I am currently despite the rocky road that may lay ahead.

I 2nd guessed myself too like 3 days before. I had someone tell me well you've lost 20lbs doing a liquid diet. Why can't you just keep doing that. People that haven't battled with weight don't get it. I just dismissed what they said, although it was very hard not to reply back with a smart mouth remark. I was a tad moody on the liquid only diet for 2 weeks.
I had surgery Thursday and had a WTH did I do moment the day after and another one yesterday but everyone I know that's had this surgery has said it's rough but you will get through it. It just takes time. I'm doing better today then I was yesterday and yesterday day was better than the 2nd day. Just take it slow. Good luck and speedy recovery.

I totally get it!!! But, what i realized is that without this tool I see where I would've only continued in my foolishness with food. It's know different than a no good man (or woman) that you won't leave, a dead end job that you stay at. ITS TIME TO shake THINGS UP!!!! GET OUT OF "THE FAT THOUGHT" FRAME OF MIND. We've been their far to long. When i cook for others or go get dinner for others, I do wish that I could. BUT IM GLAD THAT I CANT. IM sooo weak in my own strength and I know I would've have fallen over and over again and remained in my rut. My new normal is no way easy, but I'm sooo glad about it!!! Thank you Jesus. Just like any other lost that you have no control over, it get better with time. There's sooo many different variations to the food that you use to eat, just a healthier version of it. I JUST LOVE THAT!!! It will be ok....BELIEVE THAT IT WILL...KICK DEPRESSION TO THE SAME CURVE YOU KICKED OTHER PROBLEMATIC THINGS IN OUR LIVES. You've taken charge of you life. NOW WALK LIKE A BOSS AND GO GET YOUR BLESSINGS!!! HAPPY EASTER #RESURRECTEDFEB20thSLEEVER2017

Believe me i was the same way i regretted the surgery the first couple of weeks.. i was sleeved feb 8th, now that i eat regular good its so much better. Yesterday was our easter get together and i said to myself i am enjoying myself eating what i want and grazed all day. Buffalo chik dip, ham, potatoes, linguini salad mac salad....It was devine lol i was suprised at the amount i could eat for dinner and had a nice peice of cake too. I felt normal! But today is back to reality and im back to measuring out my food, it was nice to have a free day. Also i am down 50lbs! I thought id gain weight from yesterday but i actually lost 1.5lbs, maybe i needed those extra carbs and calories!

    Hey,

I'm 6 days post op and I came here to kind of find someone that is hurting in a sense as much as me.

It's easter, my family is very large and we have had dinners and lunches to attend all weekend (today is day 3 of 4). Today i lost it, I left my Mums with my water bottle underarm and as soon as I drove away i burst into tears.

I aswel in no way regret doing this, and i knew it would be hard but I never ever realised how much food plays a part in everybody's lives.

In saying this, I got home and began writing down in my journal about my day. And I found myself flicking back to day 2 and 3 and 4 and this reminded me that everyday has been hard but everyday everything has felt better and just to remember that I did this to improve my quality of life and in time i will learn how to cope in these situations.

    We got this 💪

Hi happy Easter I got the call on Thursday the surgery is set for June 1 gastric sleeve finally! it's been almost a year since I first went to my former surgeon. After having all my tests completed and right before they submitted the paperwork to the insurance company. My doctor decided he's not doing bariatric surgery anymore. I'm happy, sacred, excited, and worried all at once! What I fear most is the liquid diet for 3 weeks pre op. I also posted in another thread! Not really sure how this all works

I had surgery February 27th and don't get me wrong the first month I wondered what the hell I did! I regretted the surgery but now I am able to eat yes only a few bites and yes I get heartburn but I always have antacids with me. We have to take Calcium anyways and the antacids have calcium so I am killing 2 birds with one stone. I can drink Water normally and I am not even 2 months out yet. People are going to have more pain from gas etc. If they don't follow doctors orders and get up and get moving. It really does help. I was off all pain meds except one at night after a week and off everything after 2 weeks. Also in 7 weeks I have lost 42 pounds I would say that is worth it. I no longer have high cholesterol or high blood pressure.

If you're serious about this surgery, you wouldn't question if you should sneak in ham. Obviously you're going to do what you want but you have to keep your eye on the prize and stick to the diet your surgeon gave you.

I am fixing to start this journey. On April 13 I have my consult. I have been pouring over the internet for weeks looking into all aspects....reflux...surgery...recovery and the comments of complications are scaring the **** out of me. Are people happy for the most part? Do most people have serious complications? I have a history of tough cesarean sections. I have been cut like a cross with ports and had placental abruption. But this is scaring me. I need some encouragement!

I'm a slower loser and it will indeed probably take 2 years for me to reach my goal weight. I'm ok with that, it's not all gloom and doom. It took me 38 years to put all that weight on, so to reach my goal in only 2 years is amazing. It's all about prospective. It's not about losing the fastest, it's about learning how to properly eat so you can maintain a healthy weight for the rest of your life. All good things come with time. Trust the process and enjoy the journey. Never compare yourself to others and their journey. Just concentrate on you, one day at a time! Good luck!

are you on an antacid?? This is a very important aspect. I was constantly "hungry" too. Ended up it was excess acid and because this surgery messes with our nerves it can send the "wrong" signal.

Honestly, I've not heard of anyone having yearly checkups for the surgery itself. I think it's pretty much, once it's healed, you're good to go. Everything else should fall under general gastrointestinal functionality and be treated by a GI doctor. I'm not a doctor and I'm not far enough along in the process to speak factually about this, but I've never heard about check-ups. I've got a friend in Michigan who was sleeved a year and a half ago and hasn't had a checkup since.
As for complications, I didn't have any (so far) with either of my surgeries, but that's where the patient coordinator comes into play. You've also got a ready connection to Dr. Kuri through her. Their complication rate is pretty low, at least as far as I've heard.
I recently heard about a "medical complications" insurance policy for those who do medical tourism. It'll reimburse you for complications encountered if you choose this route. Don't think it's very expensive either. I didn't use it; I heard about it within the past few days...after my surgery.
I'd really encourage you to contact Dr. Kuri and his staff via a web request at https://www.lapbandsurgery.com/. Joann will likely be the person to contact you. She's had the band for many years now so she can speak from firsthand experience.

So, a few things have occurred over the last few days. My dad passed away in a terrible motorcycle accident and his wife, my step mom, is in critical condition. Alongside of dealing with the pain of losing my father, my hero, (I am 23, he was not supposed to leave me this soon) and dealing with attorneys for his estate and lawsuit, i am in the middle of my pre op diet and going through the motions and I am losing my insurance. My mom is putting me on hers, but I don't think it covers bariatric surgery.
I don't want to be selfish in thinking about this at a time like this but I have appointments coming up that I'm trying to get with my patient advocate about to see if I should go to them.
I am just wondering if I should keep going or if I should step back and just take the plunge and go to Mexico. I almost made the decision to go to Mexico before but decided to start the program I'm in now. What is every ones experience with mexico? Is it sketchy? Scary? Way more expensive and not worth it? I did a lot of research on it before and every thing seemed legit but I am still a little bit not convinced. Can anyone offer me some insight on this?

Yes those popsicles are my lifeline. I stay sucking on those suckers. Jello too but I found a parfait sugar free jello at Walmart and some local grocery stores. Just a little different from the jello. I'm not too into the pudding it tastes a little too nasty for me. I have tomorrow then Thursday is my surgery. I'm almost there. I was hungrier today than all other days. I'm nervous and excited.

Hi Jen. Everyone in my office is now asking also. They see the schedule and I am known for taking exciting vacations (October was a safari in Kenya) so everyone is wondering what my plans are. I'm sure there may be some suspicion after the fact but whatever.
BTW, I found out that I am required to have pre-op chest X-ray and EKG prior to surgery. I called the surgeons office and they told me the hospital should be calling to set up the pre-op testing. It's hard for me to get time off so I actually called the hospital instead of waiting for them to call me. I set it up for the same day as my pre-surgical meeting with the doctor and it gives me about 3 full business days for the results to get to my PCP for review at my 4/19 appointment. It's a lot of coordination but I hope it is worth it. I've been watching some really great YouTube videos that really help me feel like I'm doing the right thing.

Just an update- I had Surgery on Friday. I have a desk job so came back to work on Tuesday. I'm amazed that there has been so little pain! I guess that is because my dr used my old sites for the laparoscopy which is scar tissue. Hardest thing about this is trying to get in all the Protein and liquids to stay hydrated but that is getting easier.
