  1. I believe in the fat gene too.
  2. I agree, it's not that hard to hide it from people. I was banded in May, and the people I work with still don't know. Everyone is always on some kind of diet anyway, so no one really notices how I eat now.
  3. I take 2000 mcg of Biotin a day, plus multivitamins, plus calcium, plus I get a lot of protein. So I just don't get it.
  4. I love my band, but I also wasn't told about the hair loss. I was in fact told the opposite, that it only falls out if you have gastric bypass. Well, 4 months later, my hair is now very thin. Even if I would have know about it, I still would have gotten the band. But if they would have told me about it, at least I would know to expect it and not be so devastated when it started thinning.

I don't see it as sexism. If he would have said, "Look at her nice tits" then it would be!!!
  6. I am having the same problem, one day I am too tight and the next I can eat everything.
  7. I think that's a great idea! But I have heard that Oprah is against any type of WLS, so she might not want us there!
  8. Are you measuring your inches? I do mine once a month. I haven't lost much pound wise, but I have lost inches.
  9. I take chewable calcium from Walgreens. It is only $10 for 75.
  10. Ok, someone please tell me I am not the only one losing slow. I had surgery on May 22.
  11. She shouldn't be trying to talk you out of it. There are people who fail, but there are also many people who succeed. There are many examples of people here who have lost hundreds of pounds. People can fail at any WLS. I have seen many people lose weight with gastric bypass only to regain it back.
  12. My vitamin D levels have been low as well, so I started taking a calcium supplement (in addition to my regualr multivitamins) with vitamin D in it as well. I buy the chewable generic ones from walgreens. 2 tablets have 1200mg calcium and 800IU's of vitamin D.
  13. Thanks! I am going to pick some Biotin up at Walmart. Are you breaking the pills or taking them whole? Is anyone drinking any protein shakes to see it helps? I don't really like them, but I started drinking them today hoping it would help. I had my surgery in May and I just strated noticing it a week or so ago. It really sucks!
  14. It's very thick saliva that comes up when something is stuck. I'm not exactly sure what causes it, but it can be pretty gross.
  15. Just leaning over a sink can help me sometimes, especially if I am sliming. Other than that, you just have to wait it out.
  16. I have all of those symptoms except for the facial hair. I have to go to the gyno soon anyway, so I am going to ask about it. But I have heard the treatment is birth control pills, and I'm already on those, so I don't know if there is any help for me. PS Does anyone else think this needs to be moved to the powder room?
  17. With everyone talking about PCOS I am wondering if I have it. I also have pain in my lower sides and I am losing very slow, a lot slower than others who had the surgery the same day as me. I also have a lot of mood swings. How do you know if you have it? Do they do an ultrasound?
  18. You will most likely still be able to eat your favorite foods after being banded. I thought the same as you, and I had many 'last suppers'. But I can eat almost anything now, only in much smaller portions.
  19. I don't think you're crazy either.
  20. I know what you mean about it being a chore.
  21. Do they make chewable or liquid Biotin?
  22. I'm so sorry for your loss.
  23. My surgery was approved, and I had it done May 22. I didn't have any luck getting financing for the coinsurance because of my credit. So my husband and I decided to take out a credit card in his name (he has much better credit than me, and was approved for it with no problem). That could be an option for you, I don't know. I am still paying on it, but it is so worth it.
  24. I think it would be neat to have it done, but do your nipples stay hard and show all the time? Can you see the hoop or barbell through your clothes?
