My thoughts exactly.

Lap band - don't do it!! Scarred for life
I don't want to sound like I hate the Lap Band, because I don't. In fact, I love it! I haven't had any major problems other than the hairloss. I haven't lost a lot of weight, but what I have lost, I know I couldn't have lost it without the band. I can just really sympathize with those that have had problems, because I agree that people with problems are ran off and blamed when in fact it usually isn't their fault they are having problems. I can also sympathize because I agree that doctors and other healthcare providers don't always tell the truth about what can go wrong. Melolo, may I ask what type of hair treatment you had?

No, there are no other doctors in my area that do the surgery. I am glad the supplements worked for you.

Lap band - don't do it!! Scarred for life
Apparently YOU didn't read my posts, because as I stated I did ask the doctor and the nutritionist before surgery if this was going to cause hair loss. They told me no. But just about everyone on here has had it happen. And YES I am taking supplements for the hair loss, but IT IS NOT WORKING. I wasn't talking about other people who have had the surgery not stating the negatives, I was talking about the DOCTORS not stating the negatives and the side affects. AND I DID ASK. They glamourize it. You are newly banded and you have a lot to learn. In the beginning it is all great, but just wait until YOUR hair starts falling out, and then let's here what you have to say then.

Lap band - don't do it!! Scarred for life
Excuse me, are you talking to me?? I take vitamins EVERYDAY. I have never missed a day since being banded. And my hair is still falling out. Just about everyone I have talked to that has had the band all say the same thing. It doesn't matter how many vitamins you take, it still happens. I never said anyone was evil or deceitful. All I said was the doctor's office doesn't tell the bad things that can happen. They only state the good. I also never said that all I eat is junk food. What I was saying is that people thinking about the band need to know that they can still eat a lot of junk because it goes through easy. I think everyone thinking about this needs to know that it takes a total lifestyle change. A lot of people aren't told that up front and think the band is going to do all the work. I don't know why you are being so sarcastic. Are you even banded yet? I haven't had any major problems, thank God, but a lot of people have problems through no fault of their own, and picking up a phone or getting in an automobile doesn't solve their problems.

Program Fee (to surgeon) & WLS
I had to pay a $75 fee during my inital consultation, plus my $30 copay. I had to pay a $95 fee for the nutrition and psy evals. I also had to pay $1000 program fee one week before surgery. I agree that it is a scam. They are just taking advantage of people because they know we are desperate and will pay whatever they tell us.

Hair Salon Tipping..how much?
I made $2.15 back in 1994 and it is still the same! It is so stupid.

Hair Salon Tipping..how much?
When I waited tables, I didn't have to pay a percentage of sales. I did have to report all my tips and they were taxed. The taxes were taken out of my check, so my check was usually only a few dollars since I only worked for $2.13 an hour.

How long.....
I'm glad you said something, because I was thinking the same thing! I used to fake ALL the time with one of my exboyfriend's. I just couldn't have an orgasm and he would get mad. So I just started faking it. But now I see how bad that was. I have never faked with my husband. If I can't do it, then I just can't.

You are right about the junk food, it does go straight through. I can also eat anything crunchy with no problem. People who are thinking about being banded need to really know that, because it does take a total lifestyle change. I have found that I can eat a huge order of nachos from taco bell with no problem. I have had to learn to say no to all of that kind of food. I agree that people aren't told about all the problems up front. I wasn't told about the hair loss. In fact, I was told the opposite, that it wouldn't fall out. But it is, majorly. I have long hair and I am going to have to get it cut because it has gotten so thin. The doctor's and everyone else at the seminar and nutrition classes made it all sound so easy and so great. While I am glad I got the band and I wouldn't want it removed, I think it is wrong for people not to be told the truth up front. There are a lot of things I wasn't told. It was glamourized by everyone I talked to before I got it.

I am sorry for everyone that is having, or has had, problems with the band. I know it is possibe to follow all the rules and still have problems. But I still don't believe the OP. I think she was a troll. She hasn't even been back on to respond to any of this.

Hair Salon Tipping..how much?
I don't have a problem with tipping. But what bothers me is, people expect a big tip no matter how good the service is. To me, tipping is given to people who do a good job, if it's a waitress or a hairdresser, or whoever. But if I go into a restaurant and get bad service, I am not going to leave a tip. That offends some people. The last few times my husband and I have eaten out, we have had terrible service. At one restaurant, we waited a long time for our drinks to be refilled. The restaurant was not busy and our waitress was in with a group of other waitresses talking and laughing, and just having a good time. I finally had to go up to her myself and ask if we could have refills. Guess what? We didn't leave a tip. So if I get good service, I will leave at least 20%, but I'm not going to leave a tip when the service is bad just because it is expected.

It pains me to write this...
You've lost 120 pounds! That's great! Try not to beat yourself up so much, especially since this is the first time you have gained since being banded. But I do understant how you feel. I gained 2 pounds this week and I was very unhappy. I am going for a fill next week.

Hair Salon Tipping..how much?
"Most waiters/waitresses only make $2.01 an hour" This is why I quit waiting tables a long time ago. Tips, no matter how much, could never make up for the difference.

risky......anyone ever have a threesome?
I've never had one, but I was approched in a resturant by a girl who was looking to have one with her boyfriend. She said I was just his type. She said they have them all the time. It was a really weird feeling to be asked that in a resturant by a complete stranger!

Hair Salon Tipping..how much?
I think tipping has gotten out of hand too. If I get bad service in a resturant, I don't tip at all. When I go for a massage, which usually costs anywhere from $30-$60 depending on how long it is, I only give $5. That is all I can afford.

Weigh in... how much have u lost?
I wouldn't go by the doctor's scale if I were you. They are seldom right. I work at a doctor's office and ours is almost 10 pounds off, they weigh everyone 10 pounds more than what they actually weigh. Most of them are just old. I know ours is. I would get a good decent digital scale and weigh on it everytime, and go by what it says.

Sexism Rules!
One of my bosses once told me that my hair looked nice that day. I took it as a compliment, but his boss overheard him say it and he got into trouble, because it was considered harrassment. I didn't take it that way. I think some of these things get taken way out of hand.
