Teajayteejay reacted to Deneishia in 8 months after sleeve
My weight loss journey started in 2010 when I weighed 386 pounds. I became stagnant and didn't lose any weight for several years after I lost the initial 100 pounds.
I got the sleeve in June of 2016 and it saved my life.
Learning how to eat again has been fiffucult. Learning how to eat around my food addiction has been especially difficult.
But im happier than I've ever been and I'm going to run a 5k next month!

food weight doesn't correlate to how much Protein. You have to read the back of the package. You can keep a running tally in your head or use a my fitness pal app to track your numbers.

Teajayteejay reacted to TurksGirl10 in Drinking from a straw
My surgeon encourages the use of it helps you get your Fluid in! He even lets you while in the hospital directly post-op. I'm 1 year and 8 months out so far, without a straw, I don't get 1/2 the Water amount in as when I do you a straw!

Teajayteejay got a reaction from dvmp61 in When can I introduce string cheese
I am one day away from soft foods portion. Have been craving string cheese. Does anyone know when I can introduce string cheese? Do I have to wait till full blown regular food is allowed? Just craving string cheese.

Teajayteejay reacted to LittleBill in How can I know if my liver is fatty?
I looked at it this way. I wanted to give the surgeon every possible opportunity to not screw something up while carving up my insides. Not only did I follow my dietary restrictions exactly, I even trimmed my beard back to next to nothing because he said it would be easier on the anesthesiologist if they had trouble. It grew back.

Teajayteejay reacted to RNMomof4 in Confused about the pains!
I was lucky...only took pain meds once in the hospital and that was for a headache. The incisional pain was never more than a 2 out of 10

All this advice does help. It seems I'll be able to function mostly on my own, good to know. I'm pretty independent. My concern is going to the restroom and showering with the drain I'll have.
Did any of you have a drain? Was that area painful or a pain to deal with?

Man I sure appreciate the recommendation of the toilet riser. I'd hate to have my brother help me of the toilet. Giggle. I'll check into the riser tomorrow.

It does help, thank you. I have my surgery Jan 3, 17 so I'm trying my best to get everything I néed before hand because my brother will be my partial caregiver, then the other half I'm on my own. We're you able to take care of yourself or did you need help? I weigh a lot 500 so I can't walk well at all and not sure how easy it will be for me to get out of my recliner due to abdominal incisions. Recommendations, I'd love it since you are so new out.

If you don't mind what purpose does it do for you? I sleep in a recliner now cuz the bed is just so uncomfortable. Will this make sleeping in a bed more comfortable, in your opinion?
