Stick with the program. It's in place for a reason. Dont bend any rules or youll start thinking you can bend them all.
Stay on the straight and narrow for the BEST success! You'll be so glad you did.

You're very lucky I'm not sure what you're eating is right now but I hope they let you know that eating high Protein and low to no carbs can put you into ketosis which messes with you emotionally.. Just a little FYI in case you didn't know like I didn't the first time it happened to me Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

I know when I track it helps me stick to what I should be doing better.. I'm not scared 1 tiny bit.. But then I'm doing this because thanks to Lyme I've gained more weight and am unable to be very active.. And I want my life to feel back, I want to be able to do things with both my sons and my new dil.. I may have to have surgery on my hips in the future and sure can't at this weight.. Also found out (from pre surgery testing) I may have to have a heart valve repaired in the future

Two days post op and feeling pretty good today; some parts are better than what I thought and other parts a little worse. It is very difficult to get liquids in and take the medications; more than 3 spoon fulls of liquid hurts my stomach.. but I know it will get better each day and I'm looking forward to my new life!

No guilt at all! I eat what my sleeve allows me to and if I go off my plan and taste something unhealthy, I don't beat myself up about it. Why would I?
If I started gaining weight, I would examine my food intake and adjust it though.
My first mushy food was the dreaded banana. I was so happy to be eating a "proper" food after three months on liquids (I was very sick post op) that I ate it with glee. I knew the nutritional value, I tried Protein everyday first, did all the right things.
But that banana made me very happy, stopped my leg cramps and dizziness, gave my meds something to bind to in my system.
Point being is that you have to eat to live and sometimes we eat things that might not be good for our weightloss.
Feeling guilty about it is a waste of energy.
If you don't like the choice you made, make a better one next time, use that energy to go for a walk or to meal plan for success tomorrow. But don't give headspace to guilt!

I just went back through every single post you've made and honestly I haven't really seen anything too bad.. The last one or 2 post was possibly borderline.. And you seemed a little bit over sensitive.. Emotions maybe? I know I can be that way.. And it's not uncommon pre or post surgery because of little to know carbs.. It can make you get roller coaster emotions.. Just take a deep breath.. Try to ignore what you don't like and continue appreciate all the help you did and will get Munky

You need to do what you need for yourself. You are young looking in your picture, and 200 lbs isn't something to ignore. Your health will start to deteriorate, and you won't be able to do things the older you get. Now is the time to take control of your own life and do what you need to do.
Tell your fiance to support you or back off. If he loves you, then he'd be there for you, even if he can't take a bunch of time off, he can be there for you mentally. (besides, tell him sex will be through the roof after you lose some weight hahaha)
And for the record, the vast majority of WLS patients are fine by the time they are released from the hospital. Yes, it's nice to have someone there to help you, but statistically you will be healthy enough to take care of yourself for the most part.
This is about YOU, not what your fiance is comfortable with.

WELL, I was going to post my NSV's too. Your post was so inspiring. I am 60 years old and had my RNY on July 2, 2013. I lost 132#'s in 6 months. I am 5.4 and I got down to 117#'s, but I felt like HELL my Surgeon and my PCP got worried because they thought I was losing muscle. So I did end up gaining 8#'s. You would be amazed at how much better I felt after just those 8#'s. So now I weigh 125 and have maintained this weight for 2 and 1/2 years. So now amoung many NSV's let me say I was on insulin with pills to try to correct my Diabetes. I was so insulin resistant that my PCP wanted to throw up his arms and give up. I took 12 different meds, now I take 4 no Diabetes meds at all and 1/2 of my blood pressure medications. I just can't get around stress. ( BTW if someone knows how please let me know) I am now able to exercise. I do have health issues still FIBROMYALGIA and ARTHRITIS. But I NOW can walk 4 to 5 times a week and 4 to 5 miles each time. AWESOME STUFF!! But one of my favorite NSV's was when my 9 and 11 year old grandkids came and set with me in my recliner and FIT with ROOM TO SPARE!!! So Precious!! There are so many others but I will stop now. LIFE is so much sweeter now!!

FunkyMunkyBrat reacted to James Marusek in Diarrhea every time i eat
After my RNY gastric bypass surgery I became lactose intolerant. Anytime I drank milk or anything with lactose it lead to a quick trip to the bathroom with diarrhea. This condition lasted for a couple months and then went away. Some Protein shakes contain lactose.
Most patients routinely receive antibiotics while in the hospital. There are generally many unusual germs in hospitals and antibiotics are given to prevent infections. This not only kills the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria in your gut. Thus it is important to take Probiotics after surgery to restore these colonies of good bacteria so that your gut can process food properly.

Beware of buying to much Protein Drink ahead, I speak with the truth your taste might change after your WLS. I would really hate to know how much I have spent in my 3 years for Protein stuff to just give it away. I'm lucky because my Grandkids think if NANA eats it it is GREAT!! LOL I also have a nephew that does Protein to be heealthy so he got quite a bit too.

At nine years out, I have only been hungry once. I was busy and went about 10 hours with no eating and was vey hungry. I make sure I have about a 200 calorie snack three times a day in addition to three meals of about 300 calories each.
Eating simple carbs can also cause hunger to RNY'ers.
Do not eat anything with sugar, flour, bread, rice, potatoes, Pasta or Cereal and you may never be hungry again.
All you need is Protein, Water and non-starchy vegetables.

Great post! Great advice too!! I am still waiting on my approval... and it seems I am not nervous about the surgery at all, but the thought of eating and making decisions on my own after surgery and sticking to the plan after surgery TOTALLY FREAKS ME OUT!!!! Can I do it? What if I fail? What if I screw up? Will I know what to do? Will I be able to tell if I am full? Will I be able to resist the cravings? Am I strong enough for this? No lie... totally freaking out and I am not even approved yet. Anyone else go through this?

I am two years post op and my feeling of hunger came back at about 5 months post op. I think because i was working out like crazy.
The good news is, it does not take much to fit my tummy and if i follow the rules i can stay full for a long time.
The only real pain i had post op was from the gas they pump into you and the only way to get rid of it faster is to walk alot for days. When you do sit, a heating pad helps and when your bowels begin to move again, gas x will definately help that pain.
Be prepared to stick to the plan and really the first few weeks are all about getting your fluids in. that sounds os easy but when you are not hungry it is much harder than you think. If you dont do it, you get dehydrated very quickly which can make you feel tired, nausea and hungry. I learned to keep the Water bottle in my hand and sip like crazy all day long.

You are not doing anything wrong and trust me that is a significant weight loss for the time post op.
You have to remember, your body needs time to breathe in between all the changes. Keep following your plan and if you are thirsty keep on sipping that Water and Protein shakes. they will only help you in the end.
Be patient. The weight did not come on in a month or two and it wont come off that way either. It took me 18 months to lose 152 and i feel like that was so fast that it still did not give my brain and body time to catch up.
Dont be in a hurry.....just follow the plan and you will be good to go!

So I actually ordered some of the Vitamin Patches. I asked my surgeon about them before I did and he said there isn't any reason why they shouldn't work and if that's what I wanted to do he didn't care, as long as I am getting vitamins is what is important to him. I got them because I don't want to add that to one more thing to stress getting in. I'm having surgery on 10/25.
Has anyone tried them and gotten blood work back on them and had blood work done on them?

Another thing I found out ( not soon enough for myself) but my Surgeon finally told me that it will take time to reach those goals for both the Protein and fluids. But the main concern is drinking your fluids it doesn't take long for us to become dehydrated so keep sipping! Also later on your protein counts toward your fluids per my Surgeon after I was totally stressed about it!! LOL

The nurse in the hospital told me I could go up to 2 oz every 15 minutes so now I feel like that may be too much. It makes sense about why it's trying to come back up and sit in my throat.
