Learning how to exist around food that you can't (or shouldn't) have is a mental exercise that takes work and determination. You are always going to be around food (or even other things) and you will always have to make the decision about whether you should have it or not and then do what you have to do.
I think this entire journey is much more mental than it is physical. I don't think there really is any perfect answer. I have just chosen to embrace what I know I need to do to be successful and not cut myself off from life as I do it. And that means that I drink Water when my friends are drinking alcohol, and I eat whatever I am allowed to eat or I don't eat anything at all in situations where everyone is eating whatever they want to eat. It isn't easy, but it is worth it to move toward my goal.
    Good luck!

I had surgery 10/12 and tomorrow I have my 2 wk visit and start my pureed stage. I have been doing well, very little nausea, Hardly any pain and going to the bathroom everyday. I am oh so looking forward to tasting food. I am having to crush my pills in applesauce. Yuck!!! I have already planned my meals for tomorrow!#! Lol I hope it goes well and I tolerated the texture of the pureed food. I'm thinking of trying refried Beans first and scrambled eggs. I have researched on several sites for ideas for the pureed stage. Pinterest has some really good recipes for sleevers. I am so excited.

Thats 1 place that i havent looked for recipes but i know i dont like refried Beans. I started this stage last week and i havent been able to keep anything down that has been pureed. So i stick to scrambled eggs with cheese, tuna fish, rhings that i dont have to puree. Ive still had this pain underneath my left breast when i breath in deep. I know that fullness pain but its not that. I have it all the time and im nauseated all the time and have to take my zofran. I havent been able to sleep so they switched the zofran to the phenigrin, i know i didnt spell it right but it helps nausea and helps sleep. Idk if anyone else feel like me but after having this surgery i have this guilt if i cant get my fluids in, my Protein is not the problrm right now since i can get the eggs in. The dr removed my gallbladder and repaired a huge hernia so he hasnt released me to the gym yet, i cant wait. I feel like i was losing faster before the surgery than now. Ive definitely lost some weight, im trying not to go out and buy a scale, i go by my clothes. Before surgery, i was in a 3x, im now in a 1x. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

I am doing really well overall. Surgery was 10/5. I am on "soft foods" until 3 months post-op but that includes chicken, tuna salad, deli meats, cheeses, etc - I haven't had any trouble with any foods yet. I'm not hungry though, so I am having some trouble making myself eat (but I always do because the Protein is so important). I am also having some trouble with Constipation so feeling a bit more grumpy than usual, but I took some Miralax last night so I'm hoping I'll be able to go soon!

I was sleeved on 4th October and starting week 2 of puréed. Counting down the 7 days until soft foods. Week 3 and 21lbs since surgery 38 total adding pre-op weight loss as well. I'm experimenting with lots of things but my fav at the moment is puréed tuna with light mayo - my go to. I've had bad Constipation and now having to take Milk of Magnesium . Getting my Water in. My first post-op appt is not until week 6 which I find very strange. I feel like I have been left in the dust with the surgery but this forum has helped out so much. I don't start taking Vitamins until week 5 for some reason. Each week is getting better but have had some set backs. First day back to work today and I'm exhausted.

Me too! I thought I was the only one with this strange obsession. I wouldn't allow anyone to eat in my house during the liquids only stage but I sat there for hours watching food shows lol.

Everyone I spoke with said two weeks but as usual I didn't listen and I took 3 weeks off. Today is my first day back and I am so happy I took that extra week. The large incision still hurt at week 3, I still had nausea and I was soooo tired.

On my plan, it is Week 7 post-op. It will be a happy day when lettuce and salads can make their way back into my life. (Not as happy as when eggs and meat make their triumphant return -- but happy none-the-less!)

Plenty of people still drink it. I'm 61 and I'll do Decaf till I'm fully healed but then I'm back to the hard stuff.

I was sleeved Monday October 3rd. I was also worried about the blood clots but was told just to stay moving, which I did. My Dr also sent me home with 10 days worth of lovenox, which I have to inject twice a day. I can't wait for that part to be over but I know it's for the best. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow, it will be over before you know it

The pain from my large incision is quite the kicker. Every time I stand up or try to roll over it hurts like crazy. But so far today has been better than yesterday. Here's looking forward to tomorrow!

Good for you! My surgery was 5 days ago and I feel really good. At this point the only "pain" I have is from the one larger incision site in the middle of my abdomen. Maybe an occasional muscle pain, but otherwise the pain and discomfort you have now gets more comfortable in just a few days. Try getting as much of your Fluid and Protein in as you can. It will be a challenge to hit the numbers they told you! Keep us posted on your progress!

Well I did it. Yesterday they did the gastric sleeve operation at 7:30am.
When I arrived for checking they did some paperwork that allowed the hospital to bill my insurance, then they took me back to pre-op. In pre-op they had me strip down and put on a gown. I didn't have any valuables with me but that is when they would have taken them and put them in the safe. A gentleman came in and started the IV. Another nurse came in and was asking me about what I had to eat and drink prior to the surgery date. Then I met the nurses that would be assisting the surgeon. They gave me a shot of blood thinner to protect from blood clots. I met the anesthesia person, he asked about if I'd ever been under or if any family members had issues with anesthesia. The surgeon came in and asked if I had any questions before we got started.
They then wheeled me off to the operating room. In the OR there were several people work on getting everything ready, they hooked up to my IV, set up the heart monitor. Then anesthesia gave me something to relax. He then came over with a mask that covered my mom and nose and said he was going to give me some oxygen. Next thing I remember is waking up in recovery.
For me this was the worst part, not feeling good coming out of the anesthesia and being in pain. There was one nurse to every two people. Unfortunately the other person that my nurse was watching was being combative so he the attention of a lot of staff members. Once things started to clear up for me a bit they adjusted my pain medication to something a bit stronger. After about an hour of being awake in recovery they wheeled me off to my room.
On the way up to my room we stopped and got my family from the waiting room and they followed me up. I was pretty out of it from all the drugs they had been giving me. So I don't remember much about the day of surgery once I made it up to my room. It was mostly keeping me comfortable. They got me to the room around noon, and had me take a short walk at about 6pm. I was able to urinate for them so no need for a catheter. Yay!!! They gave me some more pain medicine and let me rest. Throughout the night someone came in about every two hours to check on me and my vitals and checking my blood sugar.
The next morning they came in and gave me another shot of blood thinner, I had been sipping Water this entire time. I got up and went for a couple walks around the floor. Had to prove I could still urinate. Then the surgeon came in and talked about the surgery and answered more questions. He gave the okay for me to be released.
I've made it home. Still in a bit of pain from one of the incisions but not the others. So far no real issues with nausea or vomiting. I feel this was the right decision for me and am excited to start this new chapter in my life. So far I'm doing good, as far as the pain, it sucks but I know each day it will get better and better. Just focusing on getting in my Water and walking as much as I can.
I'm just now laying down for the night, sure will be nice to sleep in my own bed.

Mine was very similar to yours. Had surgery on the 3rd, had to stay longer due to not keeping anything down but my Aunt Flo came a few days before! It was horrifying. We still made it to the other side though

Definitely mostly coffee though! I can hear sleevers recoiling in horror right now, gasping, saying I should be dead because "coffee dehydrates you" (LOL - I am not typing from the grave, I promise, I have been successfully hydrating myself with coffee for decades).
