  1. surgery 17 days ago. Hello real food. I am still rather weak from the liquids and the big incision. Im just not the old Mare I use to be. I have lost 29 pounds as of this morning. I am sure some of that to come back when I do get familiar with food again, and before a real fill. Doc said im rather tight already from all the surrounding scar tissue. I am trying my luck at a diet coke over ice. That is the only way we can have them,,,that way they are flat somewhat. Two sips and it doesnt taste like i remember. Oh well, i bet it will comeback to me. I got out today for the first time to go to church. Im a little pooped, but I plan to return to work tomorrow, so i better get in the saddle
  2. We are blessed in Little Rock to have some good choices of Drs.
  3. Think about that Greg. I dont want to lead you astray, but just think about that. There is so much more than getting the Band installed. There is education and followup and AVAILABILITY.Something just doesnt smell right about that set up.
  4. have you spoken to anyone in that office lately? Make sure that he is still doing surgery..
  5. I just want to update a little about my insurance. The approval came in less than 24 hours. That is the Blue Cross Blue Shield True Blue PPO. I was amazed. But let me tell ya, the Hospital has been in a stupor on the $15,000 Cap. That seems to have just blown everybody out of the water. How to charge? patient paying? has insurance? I am 1 week out from surgery, so we shall see how the finances come out. I do hope i have paid all I have to cause there aint no more!

This morning is my first morning to get up and just feel like I cant take another liquid anything. I did get down coffee and a popsicle. I dont know if im feeling hunger or just sore from the surgery. With this huge incision i have im sure my feelings are a little different than most. It is hard to hear and listen to my own body when there is still surgery pain. I could go for a good steak right now. I too woke up to no loss this morning,,,,,hummmm, now that is a change. Are you still taking the Milk of Mag? I am, just a swig every other day. I know there is nothing in there to make a stool, but i sure couldnt deal with one if i had one..Sorry,,,,I dont know where that came from.

WOW where did the first week go? I just knew this would be the hard part, being creative with liquids. What I have done is get the favorites and stick with them. I think my Dr. Kinda put me over in to week two when he told me to blend up "to liquid state", soups. That opens a big new world there. It has been zero problem this week with food. Bottom line you arent hungry either. Tomatoe soup is good good good.. I am having my 8 day anniversary today and i got out for the first time. I really did alot of walking that before surgery was not as easy. I have lost 11 pounds since surgery and i really think that has even helped some. My feet are asking,,hey who is that up there???? I am so excited about the future.. I want to be healthy and happy about my self. Blessings to you all. Mary Jacksonville Arkansas Dr. Clay Wellborn, surgery date 1-16-2009

  9. thanks for such a wonderful and inspiring post. I am one week out from surgery, love Jesus with all my Heart. im feeling the Post surgery blues at times. I know that the surgery can throw ya for a loop. I wasnt able to get it done laprascolically, so the large incision was the big hurdle i have to get over. 9.5 inches long I have had 2 open proceedures there from the same hole and there was just so much scar tissue,,he couldnt do the small incisions and get around in there. I am home and all is fine,. Thanks again for the great post. Mary almost forgot,,,,,,lost 12 pounds!
  10. thanks, it is good to belong to a club,,,or is this a Gang? I am doing well. The big incision is for the birds. The PORT hole is not even noticable ,,, I am enjoying all these liquids...not bad at all, Well, give me an update on yourself???????
  11. Well, I am now a member of the Band. I was banded on 1-16-09. I was not lucky to have it laproscopically. Due to the 2 other surgeries in my abdomen,,,,TOO MUCh Scar TISSUE. So now the recovery is not great. But im tough.,

Here I am home and it is all behind me. I did have a setback due to the fact that I had had 2 other abdomenal surgeries. One staple procedure, and one reversal of the staple procedure. I had alot of scar tissue that meritted the Doc. making a large incision to do my LapBand. THe recovery time is much longer than for the 5 small incisions. I still am truck wreck material, but am so much better. I had a real hassle with the Hospital. Apparantly I am the first one to ever have a cap on my surgery for lap band...mine is to pay 15,000 and that is all. I was told by my drs office that i would be treated in his office as a patient pay, since I had a cap on my insurance. This seemed to cause much confusion as to how the hosp. would charge..The rest of the story remains to be seen. Physically I am ok. But I do recommend that you know going in that there is a possibility of an Open surgery. It is rough. I have lost 3 pounds and Doc says by the weekend i should see some major changes. Blessings to you all. Mary

  18. Hey there, Jacksonville AR. here. I see that you used Dr. Luttrell? I did go to one of his seminars, but have decided to go with Dr. WEllborn. He did a WLS reversal for me many years ago and I feel safe with him. I talked to his office just today and I think that I will be in for surgery before the end of the month. Im so excited. One question,,,,,,would you do it again?
  19. why wouldnt the Company that makes the band pay for a second operations. This is suppose to stay in us for LIFE!
