Congratulations, Kat! Take it one day at a time. I just finished my first day back the university in the classroom following my RNY last Monday. Can't wait to meet up with the bariatric team on Friday to check my progress and add a bit more variety to my menu I ordered a fitness watch to keep track of my walking and remind me when it is time to do whatever I need to do. As someone a week a head of you, never hesitate to reach out if you need a buddy to chat with about the journey. Sent from my SD4930UR using the BariatricPal App

I'm 8 days post-op and my team has me drinking 3 1oz shots of Pro-Source each day. Each ounce contains 15 grams of Protein.

Try sipping on something warm. That has helped me after having something stuck. I think it helps relax things...
And I adore mushrooms, but I've had the same thing happen with them. I'm 4 months out and still leery of them
    Hope you're feeling better soon!

So, I had my surgery yesterday!! Super sore
On my left side which is normal. I walked some yesterday afternoon, down the hallway last night and then some today!
    Overall, not a terrible experience.

I had my RNY done last Monday and was discharged late Tuesday afternoon. No issues before, during or after. My bariatric team has been first rate! The doctor has been doing these procedures for years and has developed a bariatric bible for his patients to follow and refer to throughout the process. He is very thorough and conservative in his approach. Trust your bariatric team to help you get to where you've always wanted to go but we're unable to get there. Whenever I started to have a doubt, I reflected back onto a statement made by my primary doctor: "I can't remember ever treating a 300 lb 80 yearold."

I feel the same, my surgery is Wednesday. I've been able to lose 40 pounds on my own, so I'm questioning if I really need it. But then I think that I do need it, but then I worry ......hope all goes well for you tomorrow!

Had a rough morning, I guess it has all hit me, that I'm having WLS tomorrow, my emotions are all over the place. I question, should I do this, I don't want to, then I do. I'm pretty sure this is normal.

Thoughts and prayers for one and all. I had my RNY on Monday the 19th and am home doing remarkably well. My new mantra is walk-sip-walk-sip... I suggest you keep on top of pain management and follow post-op schedule as strictly as you did the pre-op liquid diet. The toughest part for me is the 1oz of clear liquid every 15 minutes (48+ oz in the day). I am using ProSource berry Liquid Protein for 3 1oz Protein Shots throughout the day and doing my 30 minutes of walking in 3 10-minute sections in different day parts. Keep a pillow handy to cover your stomach with for coughing up post-op "guck". Feel free to reach out if you need someone to chat with in the days and months ahead.

Hey there. If you look up at the top of the page where your user name is right next to your private message box. Click on your name and you will get a drop down. About half way down you will see "My Tickers" click that and follow the steps to create your ticker.

RonnieBob reacted to dhrguru in Why did you choose bypass?
I chose bypass cause with the amount of weight I had to lose- I wanted the double effect of malabsorption and restriction. A large part of why I did not want VSG was because of the large possibility of reflux. It was never an issue for me before and I didn't want to come out Of surgery with new issues. I've lost 137# so far, zero complications . I'm happy with my choice.

RonnieBob reacted to Autumn Riley Arnold in Just had my surgery on Wed. Want to tell you 'bout it
I guess I should now be over on the POST gb forum, but I wanted to post this here so that people about to get the surgery know what it might be like.
I was sooo nervous and sooo emotional! I had no IDEA how much of a hold, food has over me! Since I use it to cope, I've been crying a lot lately. I really need to get some psychiatric help so that I can find a healthy outlet for my emotions instead of using food.< br />Other than that, my surgery went amazing! I was in there for 3 and a half hours. It was done laparoscopically and it took so long because I have a LOT of scar tissue in that area from previous surgeries.
I woke up in hardly any pain and never really HAD any pain at all, except for the gas. The gas is what hurt the most. So on the second day, I was up and walking the halls, doing about 4 trips around the two nursing stations and other rooms in the center in an hour.
I was released yesterday and love being home! Things are just like they used to be, except I can't pick up and hold my cat, he's too heavy. I can't vacuum and do most of the chores I used to do but I can wash the dishes and keep the kitchen looking nice. Also, I have to be up and walking every hour too! I only walk for about 5 minutes because I'm not used to exercise and it hurts my legs and back really bad. But I will build that up to 10 minutes in no time.
So all in all, it went great! Hardly any pain and no more hunger! Oh, although! When I see some commercials (and I cannot BELIEVE how many commercials there are for food!) it makes me REALLY desire them! Even though I'm not hungry, I STILL want them. And that's what scares me and what I need counseling for.
I'm still on the clear liquid diet for another 4 days and then go to full liquids which I can't wait for! Too much sweet stuff (drinks, popsicles and jello) on the clear liquid diet. lol
So I hope this has helped and was good to read for some of you! Good luck!

i'm scheduled for next Monday, September 19, 2016. Just got final clearance from cardiology after a two stage stress test and echo cardiogram.
One tip for anyone using Premier Protein, you may want to add a dash of Benefiber (or generic equivalent) to avoid Constipation. Something my Bariatric Nurse forgot to tell me when she recommended it for the pre-procedure 2 weeks. I brought up the problem when I called to confirm my understanding of what a "clear liquid" diet for the first week to 10 days following the procedure. I then mentioned the problem with constipation and she responded immediately by asking me if I was taking Premier Protein. After saying yes she recommended the added Fiber via Benefiber.
FYI, the best price I've found for Premier Protein was on Jet.com. I was able to purchase 18 count packs and after using 1 of my 3 new customer discounts and quantity discount for 5 packs and free shipping I spent an average of less than $21.00 per 18 and they arrived in 2 days.
Best to all and may we enjoy a successful journey together!

RonnieBob got a reaction from bengal77 in September Surgery...Lets do this
I know you'll be fine. Just keep your focus and understand how much easier it makes it for your surgeon to do their tasks. I'm on day 12 of the 2-week liquid diet and find that it is fine for me, although it amazes my wife. A steady pattern of Premier Protein, 8 oz of apple juice, sugar-free Gelatin, sugar-free popsicles, Crystal Light, Green Tea and Decaf coffee. I've found it very helpful to create an input form on Google Docs that automatically populates to a Google Spreadsheet to record all calorie and Protein information. It is simple to set-up and can be used to monitor your progress and intake from beginning throughout the months and years to come.
