I'm fairly certain none of the above is on the diet plan of someone who is two weeks post op.
    Just sayin!

Here is my thing okay and I'm gunna say this with as much respect as possible. But you had a life changing major surgery and one week after not only are you giving into ur cravings but ur craving JUNK. My problem is this. There are so many people out there who have this surgery bc they need it to save they're lives and for the people who have this surgery and don't make it successful that's taking a chance of ruining the statistics of the success in this which could allow insurance companies to no longer cover this surgery if the success rate drops to a certain percentage. So when u make these wrong choices you are potentially stopping people in the future from saving they're lives or making they're lives better and healthier when they truly want it and will follow thru. And with all do respect you seem to get very upset bc people are just trying to give u constructive criticism sometimes even though u may not like that it's what people need to see oh crap I really messed up and I need to stick with my plan. And I'm far from saying it's simple bc it's not but the one thing I can say is since I have started my pre op diet NOV 8. I have cooked every single meal for my family I have baked Cookies home made pies home made cakes u name it. I sit at the table with them while they eat supper. But I haven't even licked a finger when I've gotten something on it. It's not worth it to me I made this choice to make my life healthier. The vets on this forum have read stories like this over and over again and responded hundreds of times. So by now it just short and too the point and they tell it like it is. But they have been successful bc they listened to what they were told and I'm sure to other vets before them. So maybe when reading they're posts don't take it to heart but think I wonder how many others they had to go through this with. They just are not gunna make it fluffy and surgar coat it but say it how it is. It's always with the best intentions believe me when I say that. I for one like reading they're posts and if I did something as stupid as eating junk like that I would want someone to get on me for it. Think of the reasons you made this choice. Would u rather people sit back and say good job and then this all be a waste. I wish you the best of luck on ur journey and home that this helps you understand more. Also when u need a crunch .... crunch on ice. It's on ur allowed list and does the trick!!!

I call BS on that. She didn't have 6 people visit her profile yesterday so how did 6 people message her? The name calling tells the entire story here.

So it went from a few bugles and a few pretzels to two SMALL bugles (I didn't know they came in sizes) and one tiny pretzel?

If you "sucked on them until they were mush", how'd that work on your crunch craving?
    Anywho... good luck to YOU.

Just an observation here. When you asked, "Is that OK?" You are leaving the door open for all sorts of responses. You should not be surprised if you receive ones that are not to your liking. Believe it or not, they are often the best ones. Eating that type of food so soon after surgery can risk your health as well as sabotage the entire purpose for doing this. Would you be happier if people simply endorsed your behavior?

Well, you have a mouth. We know that because you've been sucking on Bugles and pretzels with it. Here's a concept: Why not ASK your surgeon what your plan is?

You're 3 weeks out. Are you supposed to be having anything crunchy? And you're not having "crunchy" if you're just sucking on them anyway? And where's the Protein?
And DON'T tell me I'm not being 'positive'. You just had major bariatric surgery and have a post surgery diet you're supposed to be following. Grow the hell up.

Are Bugles and pretzels on your list of approved foods?
Other crunchy things you can turn into mush: Cookies, french fries, Ritz crackers, potato chips, Hershey bars . . . but this isn't the way most of us eat post-sleeve, and for good reason. This is the time to be adopting healthy habits and learning a new way of thinking about food, not plotting ways to get high-carb crap into your body.

genn reacted to blizair09 in What did you replace food with?
When I started this journey back in March with my six-month pre-op diet, my first goal (even above losing weight) was to re-establish my relationship with food. Specifically, I didn't want food to be the focal point of everything in my life anymore. And that was a tall order and took some time, but it eventually happened. When I say that I replaced food with life, I meant that instead of obsessing over where and when (and what and how often) to eat, we think about what activities we are going to do on an outing. My partner and I leave Monday for a 3.5 week tour of Southeast Asia. Our planning has been much more about excursions (some even very physically active) rather than what kind of food we're going to eat. We get out and walk; we go to the movies; we go see the Christmas light displays. And more importantly, we see people; we don't avoid pictures, and we re-connect with old friends that we have been too embarrassed to face for years.
I have gotten food to the point of being fuel for me and nothing else. Sure, I want what I eat to be good. If not, I wouldn't have worked so hard to get all of my Protein from food so I could dump those heinous shakes once and for all. But every day, I remind myself that food is just food -- not a friend, not a companion, not a coping device, not a support, not a destination, not an event, not the centerpiece of life. I let food and my out-of-control obesity control my life for far too long. That is over.

I tell myself mind over matter since my two week liquid pre op diet I have baked cakes home cooked every meal anywhere from meatloaf mashed potatoes gravy and corn to home made beef veggie Soup home made pot pie. U name it. I sit at the table with my family like tonight I ate cottage cheese while they ate they're dinner. I tell myself I was the one who decided this surgery not them and I can't punish them for it. This weekend I baked Cookies with my kids for xmas Cookies just bc I'm not eating them doesn't mean it's not an important time of the year for my family. They look forward to this. Do I really want them well heck yea. But I know I want to be healthy even more. Just write a list of all the things u want to do when u loose weight this is what I do and when I crave or want the bad things I look at that list which I hang on my fridge for reminders. I have not cheated once during pre op diet or since surgery on 11/22 and I'm down 40 lbs since pre op diet. Best of luck to u and keep ur chin up it gets easier.

I had no idea there were so many gun toters on this site! We both carry everywhere it is legal to do so. If a bad guy forced his way in the door, it would be a very short confrontation. If a bad guy showed up on the property, he would be very surprised. Like I wrote. We carry everywhere.

@@genn we have owned our country home since 1993. We used to leave everything unlocked too, but now have surveillance cameras and signs up that say no trespassing. Both hubby and I carry on the farm (I don't take it to my office because of company policy) and are licensed. This reminds me we need to renew our Concealed Carry Permits. It has been 5 years since the last renewal.

we have our done to run the whole house just bc we have three young kids ages 7,11,14 so it makes it rough when no electric. But we don't turn on the internet ha ha we make them play board games with us. Ha ha. My i laws live next door and we bought them one as well. I think most people on our road have one but we live in the country and we loose it so often. And it's weird bc just in the last few months there has been four robberies in our road but most people know we are armed and my husband won't hesitate to shoot. And we lock everything up and surveillance. It seems it doesn't matter where u live it happens now. We have lived here for 22 years and have never locked car doors always left keys in our cars. ETC.
