I sooo agree I have three kids who are autistic and I have to travel a half hr every 30 days per child so I make 6 round trips a month for prescriptions for kids at that all bc of drug addicts and pill abusers I think they need to punish those offenders and not everyone. I could go on and on about this subject. It's bad enough the money you pay for prescriptions let alone the gas you pay going back and forth for them. I could maybe even somewhat understand if the meds were pain meds but they are nothing but pills to help the moods with autistic children. It's an absolute shame.

I thought it was funny and I too have been married a long time with three kids and I have found a lot of people on here do have kids. I don't think anyone was in competition. It was a light hearted joke. I care that someone has a sense of humor thru the holidays to brighten people's days !!!

If genetics plays a role in how is it that my brother and I come from the same family same genetics he chose to eat healthy I chose not to you chose the exercise I chose not to make time for exercise I ended up fat he ended up healthy and skinny because he chose his destination and I chose mine I am making changes now to correct the changes that I want to make but is my choice to take ownership in my part of where I went wrong and to make those changes genetics can play a role you're correct it is up to you to change those genetics. I suffer from depression anxiety and numerous health problems not related to the depression and anxiety it may not be my fault that I got depressed or that I have anxiety but it is my fault for using food to cope with that so as I see were part or you were coming from I agree with everything else you have to take ownership. That's like people saying we're all human we all make mistakes you're right we're all human but a mistake is something that you on intentionally do choosing the wrong food and shoving it in your mouth is not a mistake it's a bad choice that needs to be corrected bad choices once again you can say it's human but it's not there are people out there that choose to make the right choices because they're human as well. I have not had my surgery yet I have it on 22 November but I have realized that it's my choices in life that made me the way IM I've used excuses long enough I am no longer allowing those excuses to take over my life I am no longer going to allow food to take over my life excuses are like assholes everybody has one and I'm not saying this to be meani'm being honest we have to take ownership and are part of what made us fat it's not just all one big excuse or genetics good luck to everyone.

I used to be a bartender and I know it's not preferred but I know of two people who had that surgery and drank soda and alcohol daily but I can also tell you that both of them are putting the weight they lost back on I haven't had my surgery yet but just by what I saw in them I wouldn't suggest it I quit soda 6 months ago and I crave it every day but know that I want to make this a long term goal and there is no sense going through all this just to eventually pile it back on the point is to start a new life and new ways. Best of luck and I hope that helps sway you to keeping up ur great work!!

Pharm, since you keep responding and your pic is visible in your profile, why don't you just put this to rest for good and show your before and after pics without the emojis. The card could belong to anyone so that's not really proof of anything (don't get upset...I am in forensics and am just sayin').
The thing about this site is like you said, we're supposed to be here to support one another. But we also have an ethical obligation to be honest with people who have fears and concerns about surgery. You may be an outlier but you may also be giving people false hope. No one is trying to take anything away from you. We are asking you to give us a real chance to Celebrate your accomplishment and understand that the discrepancies are not to hurt anyone here by being disingenious.

I put in baby shrimp 3 oz one tablespoon of old bay seasoning one teaspoon of fresh muncher garlic. One table spoon of Texas Pete hot sauce I sautéed the shrimp for about 8 mins with lid to save moisture. I then add the noodles and mix in really good to soak the flavor. YOU HAVE TO WATCH COOKING THE NOODLES TO LONG OR THEY WILL TURN TO MUSH. 2-3 mins I usually cook mine for. And keep stirring.

My doctor, Dr. Peter Lalor, one of the best there is, will not do the operation on anyone who has not quit smoking, He tests them, he will call it off. He has dealt with complications from smoking after surgery, even death.
I empathize with the struggle it is to quit. Been there. Whatever smoking adds to your life, it takes much more away.
From a website on bariatric surgery:
Before gastric sleeve resection or any bariatric surgery, you must quit smoking, as smoking increases the risk for infections, pneumonia, blood clots, slow healing and other life-threatening complications after surgery. Ideally, you should permanently quit smoking, but even if you don't you must quit for at least one month before and one month after bariatric surgery.
Edit: I spoke to a surgical nurse who works exclusively with a bariatric surgeon. She is adamant that smoking is out citing ulcers and bleeding problems as common consequences.

I don't think it's about people understanding, it's about your safety. It has to be incredibly hard. If you need more time to tackle your habits one at a time, then take it. But to second guess why you're doing any of it because your doctor wouldn't jeopardize your safety isn't logical. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

hello everyone .... And thanks for sticking around. From someone that's been on this site for a long time.... Since 2009.... from time to time a change is needed.... We should never let a few bad apple spoil the whole bunch.
Never is it ok to allow any person/persons to make anyone feel bullied, belittled, unimportant, dumb... Etc. We are all here for basically the same reason.... To be with people that have been in our shoes... We all started at the same place. We were all obese and looking to make a change in our lives for the better. We found this site looking for answers. Answers to questions no matter how large or small. I'm sure if you thought of the question... someone else is thinking it too but may be afraid to ask. NO ONE has all the answers.
So I say.... ask... I'm sure someone here may have an answer... if not, must of us will say... Check with your DR.
So stick around... there are still plenty of the Vet's here with years and years of experience, knowledge and advice to give. Lots of amazing people here with amazing success stories to aspire too...
I'm not going to say the thought of leaving didn't cross my mind... it did. I was going to only because i didn't like the drama..... Then that night I got a PM asking if a member could share my Before/Afters with a coworker... I said sure and the next message was how encouraged he said she was to start her very own journey. THAT.. makes it all worth it... so I stay to try and encourage those who are to come behind me, like I was encouraged all the years ago...

I think the concern over this kind of question is when someone new to all of this sees it and thinks they can advance their diet because someone else with the same surgery did.
I get that you are just curious and aren't wanting to do it yourself, but you aren't the only person seeing the responses. People with less knowledge than you will see the answers and may not know better. So encouraging people to share instances of them going against doctor's orders isn't such a good idea. Nor is discouraging people from saying why it's bad to do this or that they followed the rules. Those replies just gives a more complete answer for future sleevers who will stumble on your question.

But your words here define the real issue. This isn't a diet. It is a prescription given by the doctor that provides your body nourishment at the same time that it gives your body time to heal from surgery. It is dangerous to ask people to comment on violating that prescription.
Making choices (good, not so good, or otherwise) pre-op is one thing; post-op is something completely different (that could be deadly).

I personally would try to stay at the low end of the range they gave you, if possible. These first few months are going to be critical. It will be far, far easier to lose weight now than it ever will at any other point in your life. Take full advantage of it! On the other hand, if you're really active or just don't feel well at that low end of the range they gave you, then come up a bit. I had to - learned later that I malabsorb Protein, so that might have been part of it. Plus I'm fairly active.
