That's just as bad. Cardiologist should want accurate weights - and there's a lot of cardiac patients that weigh more than 350 lbs.

@@connie2166 The fact a Drs office doesn't have a bariatric scale should be embarrassing to them!! Was this your PCP or surgeon?

I'm not kidding when I say I threatened to switch doctors via email and then everyone started calling me.. her assistant, my coordinator and then finally the doctor! Once on the phone with her she reviewed my file then and there.. took 2mins.. then she had the coordinator complete the file... she didn't even do it herself.

How many pounds would it be to gwt to 40bmi?
I would have food funeral now and then I'd wear the heaviest clothes with rolls of quarters stuffed in my bra and pockets.

This is so awesome! My highest weight ever was 302 and I got down to 251 on my own but just struggled with the up and down yo-yo of losing weight then gaining for the past 3 years. food was an addiction to me and I needed help. I started having all of these issues with my health and I was so unhealthy. I'm so happy I got sleeved despite everyone who said I won't look right! I got sleeved 8 22 16, today I went to my follow up and I now weigh 214.6!!! I couldn't help but cry because I haven't seem that number in years! I still have a way to go but I'm so happy I let go of the negative people in my life and finally I'm doimg what makes me happy! I'm taking this journey one pound at a time! I'm just so happy!!

    Hello fellow sleevers,
I was sleeved on 2/29/16 and I have to say even with some of the minor complications, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for "myself".
Being a dedicated wife and mom, everyone else became a priority and before I knew it I had ballooned up to around 274 and at 46, it was affecting my health.
Anyway, at my heaviest and while waiting for surgery approval I would browse this website for encouragement and I would find it. I wanted to post my before and after pics to hopefully encourage someone else.

Btw... I am 5'8 and my health has dramatically improved (woo hoo). I would still like to lose another 15-20 pounds...

mshaw reacted to kmorri in Am I a candidate for WLS
The normal guidelines for WLS is a BMI of 40 or above with no other weight related medical conditions.....or a BMI of 35 or higher with other medical conditions...you mentioned you have sleep apnea which is one of the conditions that would help you qualify for surgery....So yes it sounds like you meet the basic requirements...
However, your best bet is to attend an informational seminar with a bariatric center in your area. The seminar is usually facilitated by bariatric surgeons and will provide you with lots of information that will help you determine if surgery is a good option for you. So in my opinion your first step should be to attend an informational seminar....
    Good luck to you!

Hello, did anyone here have to check-in alone? Drive to surgery, check themselves in, wake up, everything else, alone, without someone with them?
My husband won't be in town in time and I absolutely don't want to ask any of his family to take me. They would in a heart beat for sure if I asked but I'm the kind of person who hates to inconvenience others. I kind of think I'd be okay being alone?
I just wondered if anyone here was alone for surgery experience, or thoughts on not asking anyone to accompany me.

mshaw reacted to TipTop in TX in What do you wish you had done during your honeymoon phase?
I'm not an old timer but there are couple of things that I wish I had done and prepared for. I wish I had practiced eating and sipping before my surgery. By that I mean not drinking 30"-1hr before and after I ate. I am a Water girl and I always drink during meals. This is been extremely hard for me to break and I wish I'd started earlier practice thing. I also wish I had practice sipping fluids. You don't think that's a big deal, but it is because your stomach is so much smaller and I was used to taking big swallows. After surgery I could only do small sips and I would feel full and burpy.
I can now take bigger swallow, but still get burly if drink too fast or too much.

I hope this doesn't sound too off the wall. I really want the surgery and am 4 months into my 6 months supervised diet. I recently started thinking "oh my lord, I will really no longer have a stomach (or most of it will be gone), they will be cutting out my stomach!"
Has anyone ever sort of grieved over the loss of their stomach? I hope I don't come off sounding like some weirdo...
