  1. Awesome! I haven't been able to cross my legs "like a girl" my whole life--I used to be able to cross them "like a guy" but the last few years I haven't been able to even do that
  2. Thanks all--I needed to hear that I'm so thankful for this special forum, it's nice to be around people in the same boat as me.
  3. I disappeared for a bit while I was waiting to meet my surgeon, but I finally had my first appointment, now it's just a matter of getting through the rest of the appointments I need (nutritionist, psychologist, pulminologist, and PCP). I can schedule my surgery at any time and he said it would be about 6 weeks out from whenever I schedule it. I have to wait though since my fiance lost his job, I don't know how much of the money I saved up for this will be needed for rent. It's kind of disheartening now that I know my real weight, I think I have the highest BMI of any female on the board :huh2:
  4. I haven't been banded yet, but the things I'm looking most forward to that aren't on the list: Buying "normal" sized clothing and shoes Fitting in airplane/stadium/any other armed seats, amusement parks Not having to worry about being too heavy for things, fitting into toilet stalls, etc. There's a lot of things I'm hoping happens!
  5. Thanks for offering, but unfortunately, my bike was stolen while I was in college! (Figures, right?)
  6. Ooooh, I'll have to try that!
  7. Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
  8. At least with being single, you have no problems taking care of "business" yourself. Now that I've been living with my fiancee for about a year now, I get lazy and don't want to...because I know I could be having someone else do it. But darnit, he's either not home or not in the mood most of the time!
  9. Mine was a mountain bike (with the wider tires than 10-speeds with the curled handlebars) and while my tires were noticeably flatter when I was sitting on it, they didn't pop, even going up curbs and stuff. You'll be fine! I don't know about the skinny tires, though.
  10. A few months ago I was drinking 1 or 2 2-liters a day of Mt. Dew. When I started thinking about the Lap-Band, I just stopped. I already loved Crystal Light so it wasn't a big deal to switch to drinking only that. I have a Vault once in awhile, but I won't mind giving it up once I have the surgery.
  11. I'm sorry to hear that you have to wait another 6 months. Why can't you go on with deer season, though? Depending on when you get your surgery, recovery is at max a few weeks...you could always move the surgery if recovery might interfere with the short time period for deer hunting. Do whatever you need to keep yourself happy!
  12. LJM, how much did you lose after the TT? I've been following along, but I don't remember how much you weighed before the surgery.
  13. Wow, a few of you brought up something I hadn't thought of--I really hope that nobody ever doesn't have the surgery because they're afraid they'll look worse afterwards! I would never sacrifice my health for vanity, this is just a question I've been pondering for awhile :huh2:
  14. Thanks for all the posts, everyone! Kat, thank you for all the extra tips. I already knew where I was getting my Protein powder but I forgot about the Clear liquids phase. I already have one step ahead of the surgery in that I stopped drinking soda weeks ago. I've always loved Crystal Light (I buy the generic though) and now that's all I drink. I never drank coffee so right now I'm already caffeine free
  15. I think I might just do the 2 shakes and dinner--it's what you do for Slim-Fast so it can't be too dangerous. I just feel like I'll be cheating if I don't have some sort of diet beforehand when most people have to go through it!
  16. Have you asked your doctor about Wellbutrin? It's supposed to have less sexual side effects.
  17. Wow...when I saw the title of the thread, I had two other subjects running through my head, and was confused by the poll options until I realized you meant BAND sizes...lol. We all know what the first subject was, but I also thought it might be clothing size vs. weight loss in pounds. Thanks for the chuckles
  18. I talked to my PCP about it very briefly last year and she said it's a very good option to explore (this was before I had decided for sure about it, I was just pondering the band). My OBGYN also agreed when I talked to her in January and I was more certain about going for it.
  19. When I get my band, I intend to be very pushy with my fills. The way I understand it is that my insurance covers all fills for 3 months post-op, then doesn't pay anything for fills. I want to make sure I have good restriction before my 3 months is up, I shouldn't be stuck holding the bag and paying out-of-pocket for it.
  20. Lord help me if mine goes up afterwards...my fiance's has kind of died in the last year or so and it's like pulling teeth to get him to more than once a week! I would have it 2-3 times a day if I could...I feel your pain, Lanie.
  21. My surgeon doesn't require a pre-op diet, but since it seems to be the norm to do one for 2 weeks, I want to do it on my own, plus it will kick-start the weight loss. My question is what do other doctors normally give as the pre-op diet? I've heard a few different diets so as far as liquid diets go, what is more common: nothing but liquids, or liquids and a small dinner? Any advice would be great since my surgeon isn't going to give me any!
  22. Thanks all for this information. I have my first visit in a week and I was going to ask about the AP band--I hope it is standard now, but just in case they still use the older ones, I'll make sure to mention that the company does exchanges! Surgery is a big step for me and I want to get the most out of it, which means getting the AP band.
  23. Wow, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I'm actually surprised, though, because they do LB surgeries on people much larger than 330 lbs. Maybe it was an equipment failure rather than your body; that seems like a really unlikely situation.
  24. Since she's not your friend, just ignore her. She won't be around forever, and she won't be there supporting you anyway. We all know she's uninformed about LB, and the fact that she was watching what sites you visit and then had the balls to lecture you about it just shows how rude she is. You don't need her approval. You have all of ours
  25. A friend of mine in college used to be as big as me, and lately on Facebook I saw her new pictures, she's lost a ton of weight just by diet and exercise. After seeing that, I felt guilty for going the Lap-Band route instead of hard work. I also know that it will be harder for her to keep it off, whereas I will have the help of the band. It was hard for me, but I told her my intentions to get the Lap-Band since she was one of my few overweight friends, and thankfully, she told me that she supported me as long as I promised to take it out if anything goes wrong! She admitted that it's hard to lose weight and commended me that I'm trying anything at all.
