  1. This sounds REALLY good. Can you try to find out if it's mayo or sour cream (I would assume it's sour cream, I've heard of similar recipes)? Also, I don't have a crockpot, so do you think this could be made in a pot on the stove if the chicken is cooked beforehand?
  2. Since you have 2 dogs, I'm assuming you are a dog person in general, so maybe look into volunteering at an animal shelter? I wish I had time to volunteer at one myself, but the one by me is only open when I'm already at work.
  3. Hey girls, I'm a little too embarrassed to ask this anywhere else and I don't even know if it's appropriate for the forums, but I need to know: When were you able to be "on top" during sex? My thighs have been too big ever since I've been with my fiance so I have no gauge of how much I'd need to lose before I can try again. I used to think I was the only one with some of these problems, but since I joined the forums, I realize many of my issues aren't just me! Any insight or other possible positions until the weight is gone would be appreciated.
  4. There is actually a forum just for our guys on the site here: The Men's Room - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support - The Men's Room Welcome and good luck!
  5. I never had them as teachers, but I know who they are. Wow, both are your siblings, that's crazy! Small world!
  6. Have you had a fill lately? You might need one to get restriction again.
  7. I went to Western Dubuque for 1st-11th grade, then finished my senior year at Hempstead.
  8. Hi all! I know this thread has been inactive for awhile, but I lived in Dubuque and Dyersville my whole life until last year when I picked up and moved to NY. My family is still in Dubuque and I still feel like an Iowan at heart
  9. Oh my goodness...if I could rid the world if 30 Paris Hiltons along my journey, the band is TOTALLY worth it!
  10. I have almost 300 pounds to lose to get to 150...Right now I'm basically 3 people and I have to lose 2 of them! How's that for daunting?
  11. I don't know if I'm nervous or what, but I keep thinking that this surgery isn't going to happen. I keep thinking that I won't follow through and get everything done, that I'll keep postponing my appointments and won't schedule a date, I don't know. I told my fiance about this and he said that he won't let me just forget about it because he knows how much I want this. I think I'm afraid I'll go through with this, spend all the money, and it won't work. I'm not miserable with my fat self, so it's not like it's desperation that I want the surgery, but I know I need to stop gaining weight and move downward. It's a strange feeling that I'm at right now.
  12. I think I'm the only one who's NOT afraid of being put to sleep Ogre, thank you so much for the inspiration.
  13. So far of the people I've told at work that I'm getting the Lap-Band, only one person was really against it, and she's the second heaviest in the company (but she's still not huge, maybe around 200-220?). Everyone else has been really supportive and curious about how it works, what I'll be able to eat, etc. The only person I'll ever refuse to tell is my mom (who is thin), because I won't get any support from here, been there, done that, and partially blame her for my last weight loss attempt failing horribly.
  14. Oh God, I feel awful everytime they do that with the BP cuff. And they always have to act so annoyed that they have to switch it!
  15. I was never a fast food junkie until the last few years, I know it's one habit I need to break NOW.
  16. I have almost 300 to lose...I was joking with my fiance saying I should set my goal for 144 just to make it an even 300
  17. I just started using fitday since I have to have 7 days worth of journals to bring to my dietitician/psychologist appts in a few weeks. I'm already heartbroken--my favorite breakfast from Burger King is as much calories as I should have in a full day, along with 222 carbs...omg. See, just journaling never made me "aware" of what I was eating...to me, it was a small/regular breakfast. But when you see the nutritional facts is what really opens your eyes!
  18. I accidentally came here yesterday when I meant to click on "Twenties" but I think I have some advice for you all: I'm 24 but I started dating my current fiance when I was 17, and while I weighed less then than I do now, I was still about 300 when I met him, and he still stays by my side even when I gained more. I also had a hard time finding guys that would date me in high school...until I started online dating. I found my fiance in a chat room on Yahoo. I really recommend online dating for not just people like us, but even some of my friends who are really shy or one of my friends who just gets really spazzy sometimes and it can be overwhelming if he met someone face-to-face before they got to know him. The reason online dating is nice is because you get to know someone without the first impression of looks. Plus, it's not as emotionally high risk because if you start talking to someone and it doesn't work out early on, you never have to see or talk to them again, no awkwardness of being in the same school as someone. Of course, it is harder if you find someone who is further away, like my boy lived in New York while I was from Iowa, but now I live in NY as well just to be with him and we're getting married soon. I would do it all over again if I had to just to be as happy as I am now--6 years of being apart was worth it. With alot of dating sites though, you can specify how far away you are willing to look for someone. Anyways, that's the end of my little rant, good luck everyone! Here are some pics of me and my sweety:
  19. Torrid's clothing doesn't fit me very well...I think it's mostly Junior Plus so the fit is alot different than regular plus size for me.
  20. I have to say thank you to everyone for this thread, it made me realize that some of the things I have to do aren't just me or because I weigh more than most of you--it makes me feel more normal! I thought having to tug on my clothes all the time was just my personal body, boobs going up to the neck when laying down, etc...
  21. I thought about alli, but yeah...no thanks. I would recommend reading the pamphlet before trying it. Once you understand how it works, you probably won't want it.
  22. My goal is to get down to 150, which will probably be a 10 or 12? My fiance doesn't want me real skinny and neither do I, but maybe after I get down there, get PS if I need it, 125 was -always- my goal weight, but it might not be attainable anymore, wear a 7/8. I would be happy under 200 though and be able to wear normal sized clothing. Right now I don't even know what size I wear, last time I bought a 32 trench coat for a costume it didn't even fit. Everything I wear has to stretch, so I buy 26/28 because I can't really get anything higher. Shirts have to be 4-5X now. I wear a 48DD bra, and even that is tight, but Lane Bryant doesn't go any higher. I would be happy in a 38 bra or under so I could buy them anywhere.
  23. The only thing you really -shouldn't- drink is beer because of the carbonation. Like everyone else already said, the only consideration is the liquid calories, it's not going to do any damage to your body.
  24. Ooooh, those swimsuits are so cute! Thank you for introducing me to a new plus-size site I didn't know about!
  25. I'm so glad someone made this thread, I've been thinking about it for awhile. -Having to worry about breaking toilet seats (yes, I broke 2 in our old apartment last year) -Dreading chairs with arms -Afraid of parking in some parts of my neighborhood just because of a tiny hill -Making my fiancee feel bad because he can't buy me clothes, especially when he worked at Old Navy -Not being able to wear cute shoes because of the width -Not being able to shop at most stores -Ugly swimsuits and undergarments -Clothes for older women in most places that do sell plus-size--just because you're fat doesn't mean you're 70! -Not being able to try new sex positions and making my fiancee do most of the work -Worrying about fitting into restaurant booths -Feet hurting all the time from walking, I don't get out of breath or tired, my feet just kill me from the weight -All the looks I get if I even have a healthy snack at work, when some people eat all day long but are thin -Still getting called names at 24 years old. "Whale" and "600-pound gorilla" were the most recent. -Not wanting to go to concerts anymore because I can't fit in the arena seats -Praying that nobody has to sit next to me on the airplane -My mother constantly criticizing my weight -Having to buy new clothes all the time because the thighs wear out or I keep getting stains on shirts -Being able to only wear things that stretch -Hating blue jeans Gah, I could go on...
