I didn't think about opening my windows at night b/c it's July for pete's sake! I am lovinggggg this weather!!! It's supposed to get down to 60 in Atlanta tonight; that's wonderfully crazy! Amen! Long story short, my 90's career sucked off and on. I was fired from a job after a couple months (ex-squeeze me?) and then laid off from the next one after 2 years. The first experience made me realize that 1) I should listen to my "gut." I knew I shouldn't take that job but didn't listen to myself and 2) God really listens! I had prayed and prayed b/c I was so miserable at the first job mentioned so kerplunk, my big butt was unemployed! I got some good experience and then got the job where I was able to transfer to Atlanta. Looking back, I am so thankful to have made it through and now to have SUCH a better job. (The job that I was laid off from was sooooo boring but I made a couple of great friends so again, worth it.) Ebony - those folks clearly SUCK and karma will catch up with their behinds. The stupid bitch that fired me got canned on her own later. Buwahaha!! What Slim said! I've had TMJ off and on since the mid-90's but hadn't had in incidents in Atlanta (6 years) and then right before the surgery, my left jaw started hurting and it hurt for 6 months. After my first chiropractic neck adjustment, it quit...period! DH didn't even let you try your handiwork??? Rude!!! Foghorn clearing - LOL! I definitely have the burps in (time) spurts. My friends that know about my having been banded know that I'm not burping to be tacky! That's awesome; congrats!!! WTG!!! KC kicked ass! I can do training day after day but public speaking definitely scares the hizell outta me! Many people at work are shocked hearing that since I'm pretty confident and talkative! A lot of folks don't believe in chiropractic care but my experience this year has been top notch. I jacked up my back for the first time ever and was in excruciating pain. Not no mo! :smile: I also stretch before I get out of bed and did the ice therapy when it first happened. As I have said ad nauseum, that ice ROCKED!!! Our VP has recently lost a good bit of weight (her DH is obese) so she's like a reformed smoker/drinker....all 'holier than thou'. I guess my weight issues are showing in this post, huh? Hee! After numerous band issues and my laziness(!), I'm finally back on the program, so to speak. A couple of people have noticed the additional weight loss so I'm happy. My big thing right now is learning to STOP TALKING while I'm eating. I start shoveling like I used to and get stuck. Ouch!!!!! Oh and just because it made me laugh so, I got hit on at Sonic today by a customer. (shut up, lulu!) I worked from home today which means I had the hair in a ponytail, no makeup, and blah clothes. He actually said the words, "well I think you look good." I said, "aren't you sweet!" and kept on going! This has been an interesting year.... Have a great rest of your weeks!

When I heard of her death, I just thought that she was finally out of pain. MJ - I'm just gonna say that I feel like with such incredible talent came great personal demons and leave it at that. Did Ebony have the neck pain? I know Lulu's not a fan but I had a horrible middle/lower back pain just appear one night and have been seeing a chiropractor. I'd say I'm 95% healed tho an hour long stand-up meeting today made my back take a pounding!! We were all squirming around though; it was kind of comical. Our mgmt aren't always the greatest communicators so the information we received was very nice to hear. My life's fairly boring compared to most in here so I don't post much anymore (plus I'm addicted to FB). However via the stand-up mtg I got information to take to my VP about the job situation. The big boss that had the stand-up today said for us not to lose sleep over our jobs (but that another sort of related group would be downsizing by half) so that gave me the ammo to say something to my VP (repetitive!). She said that we're good but that if anyone left or posted out (for a different job in our org), they wouldn't replace the headcount. So that gave me a big sigh of relief tho I am still trying to get my name out there and make connections! She keeps saying that those of us that can do budget can do budget in any department so I finally countered with, "well IF there are jobs open." She has definite pull in the org but she's mid 50s with health problems and a rich rich husband so she really doesn't need the money. Therefore, I wonder how much longer she'll be around. But while she is, I will continue to learn from her b/c she knows SOOOOO much about financials. Blah long post but again I don't do it often!! PS - why do some people use LBT to spew their evilness? I can get fired up about politics but some people seem to purposefully jump from thread to thread to pick a fight. Anyway.

My thoughts on MJ are that I believe that with great, great talent comes a lot of personal demons. (Just like the Kennedys who have great money/power but have had horrible tragedys in their history.) I believe MJ was horribly abused by his father who used him to make money. HOWEVER, if we were talking about any other male on the planet except MJ, we would be demanding that he be put in jail. I sincerely hope that he didn't hurt those children (only because I worry about the children). It is very disconcerting that his fans (on this thread and not) automatically assume that he is innocent only because he had a phenomenal God-given talent and was a great entertainer. i concur. The kicker about this statement is that none of us know the "facts" about him. We've only heard similar "gossip" and have made our own assumptions based on our life experiences. I guess I don't understand why you came into the thread. What was confusing about "A MJ Rant"? I don't see "rant" and think, "aww, warm and fuzzy." And no, I'm not attacking; I just don't get it. America's a free country and Glou can call MJ anything she wants including a "white woman." just liked the posting. Off topic - my chiropractor said that she had a patient that was an FBI agent and that he said that OJ owed the mob a lot of money and that the mob had his ex-wife killed to teach OJ a lesson. There's no telling how many computer games I have been addicted to over the years. Bookworm was definitely one of them! I'm not the greatest at it b/c I freeze up! I'm better at puzzle-type games. Tell me again how you know you have a thyroid condition; has the doctor done the TSH blood test? If you you have hypothyroidism and are not on meds yet, then the weight gain can also be caused by the thyroid condition b/c that's where your metabolism comes from! So if you aren't on meds, your metabolism could be in the crapper! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 17 years ago and am 5th generation - partay! Gloucester - you hussy!!! Danggggg! Tell them that they aren't promoting you nearly quickly enough! That's awesome!!!

Been addicted to FB of late! I've been doing "numbers" as a full-time job since grad school, I guess (1993). I get stress headaches sporadically so I can sympathize. Thank goodness no one's paychecks relied on me like they do you!! Have you been to the doc for any meds? I had a headache for a week in March(?) and finally went. They gave me a shot and it was gone in a couple hours. I'd been in such pain for so long that my BP had spiked. Two days later, I had a surgeon appt and my BP had dropped considerably. Yeah! The GP prescribed treximet; heard of it? I've only had one headache since and it was shingles-related. It dawned on me today while at Captain Personality's (aka the dentist) that since we were merged into the new dept in April, I've had a migraine, shingles, major back pain for a week and a half. Hmm, stressed much? In keeping with the posts of late, I looked in our budget system last Friday and figured out that 5 of the 12 in my "new" dept will be let go. So the stress just continues!!! I had my little freak-out-fest Friday and then went into planning mode over the weekend. I'm planning to save as much as possible between now and the end of the year and change my 401K contributions to get as liquid as possible. So that's the plan. Oh and meet with as many higher-ups as possible to get my name out there! I talked to my old manager who loves me. They don't have any openings currently but again, gotta get the name out there, right?!? Blah. May we all be employed with a great job in no time!!!

A manager in the new dept was "explaining" something to me that I've known....oh 6-7 years now. I looked at her like she had a 2nd head. Ever since she got promoted to manager, she has thought her sh!t doesn't stink. Heaven help her if she ever talks down to me like I've heard her do others!!! Tho one fun thing is that one of the acctg ladies has called her everything but a beotch and at a very high decibel. Whew but it was hi-larity!!! 1. That is SO great; congrats!!!! :crying: 2. Thanks! I read online that those over 60 are 15x more likely to get shingles than those younger. Other risks are being immuno-suppressed (not me), having cancer (not me), and stress. I had a busy April but I don't think I was anymore stressed than I have been in the past. Who knows!!! All I know is that it's annoying! I can't remember if I said on here but my maternal grandparents have both had shingles as have my mom and brother (who was early 20's). If you have familial history, you are more likely to be one of the lucky 1M Americans/yr to get it. I would've rather won the lottery!!! :glare:
