?Birthers? ? Patriots or Racists?
I guess I can literally not say this enough, but I'm not a republican. I'm a registered independant. Unlike you, who tows the party line, every time.....most times verbatim. Well, here is where we differ. I don't care about being right. If it "all goes into the can", there will be very little satisfaction in saying "I told you so". Apparently, I had the reigns for 8 years? Why wasn't I notified of this? Dammit. Well, not so much reign as "bridle & bit", but I digress....

TV shows about obesity; Ruby, Big Medicine, Brookhaven - etc.
I've been watching "More to Love" lately....does that count?

Why Cheat?
Oh....I suspect we could all be VIP members in the "self-sabotage" club, or we wouldn't be needing the band in the first place. The simple answer, which HH answered, is that the band only helps with physiological hunger, not the urge to eat. There's a huge difference between the two. However, some people aren't told / advised of this pre-surgery. And for some of us, the learning curve is a little more steep.

*cue balloon drop & confetti cannon* PJTP: The reason I get so behind is because I only access LBT when I'm at work (kids demand a lot of time, and LBT is a sloooooooooow loader with my wireless internet. Yeah, I live in the middle of nowhere). Lately, the economic downturn has kicked my ass (ie, few patients scheduled for the sleep lab, so the boss asked my to take some vacation days), and I haven't been at work. That's why I had to slog through, like 45 pages of PJTP......

Firefly: 1 part Firefly (sweet tea flavored vodka) Smidge of water - to taste little bit of lemon juice. It will sneak up on ya if you're not careful....I'll make Firelies for all for the "meet -n-greet" (or the....wait for it..."meat -n- greet"). Except everybody else's might have the faint aftertaste of roofies. Hey, YOU were the drunk poster.....I can't be held responsible. Yes we are. Or I am, anyway (see above comment RE: roofie aftertaste) At my house, that's known as "foreplay"

Let's Talk Movie Review
Ok, for my non-FB friends, this last weekend I saw the new Harry Potter movie. If you've never read any of the books, or do not care much for the intricacies of the plot, it's a pretty good film. However, it's the hands-down worst screenplay adaption of a book that I've ever seen. I won't go much into it here because I don't want to provide spoilers for the book OR the movie.....suffice it to say that the movie just made Snape look like an evil bastard and Harry look like a coward. The filmmakers left out things that are essential to the overarching HP plot. Again, I don't want to put out spoilers, so I'll just say: In the book, the biggest theme is the power of love to overcome evil and to spark redemption. It appears again and again in big ways and small. Very little of the "The Half-Blood Prince" book is seen in the movie. Frankly, It makes me very worried for the final two movies.

Yes...I stay constantly lathered up. Literally. You called me? Beth, that's still technically illegal here in Texas! Ah, but that's a big "if"...I remember the first time the nurses showed me the "shaving cream trick" of bathing a pt. Good times. Nothing like that. You just said something about visiting PG for a week for an old-fashioned revival. I found out quite by accident (when taking organic chemistry) that the old wives tale about oxygen curing / preventing a hangover is true. Turns out the chemical process the liver uses to break down alcohol is oxygen dependant. Increase the O2, increase the efficiency of the detox. Netflix rocks!! I can / will kick all y'all beyotches ass' See above Good luck! Absolutely false. My wig is pink. Too late! I heard that! I can help you with that. My hands are certified as "manual mammographers" Heh heh heh heh..... Beth, please quit posting my personal pictures without my permission. Both her accounts have been banned, I believe. On a unrelated note, my new favorite drink is a "firefly". Gotta beware of them, though.....

"Change Blindness"
So, we shouldn't be asking these questions just because nobody asked Bush? I don't see the logic there....unless you're trying to say that two wrongs do indeed make a right.

"Our Government is Officially Insane" (Surprise!!)
See, here's my biggest gripe with this administration (and with most democrats): Why do you think the public is having a hard time sorting it all out? Because there isn't overwhelming support? As for scrutiny, hows about the bill go on the "transparency" website for a month before congress votes, just so we the people might actually read it? Just a thought.....

Stop Calling it Socialized Medicine!
Who are 1-33, then? Because frankly, I don't believe it. No, what I'm saying is the power you give President Obama today is the power you are giving the George Bush of TOMORROW!! I suspect you're blindly swallowing all this because President Obama is saying it, whereas you would be (rightfully so, ironically) suspicious about this if George Bush was pushing this bill. Remember, the government doesn't refund any power....what power we give them once, they have forever. Nice dodge, but this is waaaaaay beyong paying taxes. I heard today (Disclaimer: on Fox News, so I'm sure you'll discount it right away as a right-wing conspiracy) that if you tax EVERYbody in America that makes over $250,000 / yr @ 100% (ie, take everything they have), then it still wouldn't pay for the estimated cost of this healthcare bill. BJean, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Just because the big corporations are against the healthcare bill doesn't mean that said bill is good for the country. That is simplistic thinking. Where the dems are going wrong is that they're too elitist...if you don't agree with them you're "buying the dis-information", or "being scared by the right wing", or "don't have a good enough grasp to know what's good for them". Hey, maybe people just know a turd when they see one, regardless of party politics? Why? Why is it more difficult to introduce a better bill? Is the process not the exact same? Regardless, the white house said today that if there isn't any gop support for this bill by September, then they'll try to ram it through with dem support only (and it will probably happen...so get ready). Riiiiiiight.......meanwhile America suffers from party politics.

Strongly strongly disagree that our healthcare isn't the best in the world. It is. I once asked you to tell me who has better care and I think you basically deflected my question by asking if I had ever lived in another country / used another country's healthcare. Is it the best we can have? Probably not....every system that exists is constantly improved by tweaking. I just think to totally tear the existing structure down and replae it with governmental control is folly. Remember (as I've said time and time again), the power you give President Obama today is power you're giving another president (possibly a republican. Possibly Sara Palin. Think about that for a minute) tomorrow. So what's his perspective? Does he admit to running up needless costs like you've accused other docs of doing? Does he think the hospitals are price gouging? I REALLY want to hear his thoughts. That's overly simplistic, BJean. I could easily say that the government is the bane of our existance (what caused more damage to America's health - The government's response to hurricane Katrina, or State Farm's profit margin? The government's use of asbestos as insulation, or Allstate's bottom line? Of course, I know this is a ridiculous example...I just wanted to illustrate that pointing the finger of blame at a very easy target is a populist, simplistic tactic). But I will say that the insurance industry has an unbelievable amount of power over this country via their mega-huge number of lobbyists and the money that they devote to keeping the bills in Congress favorable to their industry. There are other reasons why the insurance industry has influenced our inferior medical care, but as I said, I've explained much of this earlier. That's what you get for not reading and absorbing my brilliant posts. Agreed. They DO have too much power. And reform is badly needed. But let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Beth, that's how God seperates those that deserve Heaven from those that don't. Besides, there's more to Texas than Houston. Hill country really does get very close to Heaven, IMO..... PJTP: I just read the "ghetto" thread and the other one (where justcurious and pink-whatever) were trying to justify the wording of the thread. That made me laugh sooooooo hard. Especially from the point of a mod. I don't want to "part the curtain" (a wizard Oz reference) about how the mods keep track of stuff, but first I read the mod posts about this situation and then the actual thread. Omg....I was rolling laughing. Some people, man........

Stop Calling it Socialized Medicine!
BJean, thst statement is....well, stoopid. Do you really think it's the DOCTORS that have screwed up medicine? Really? And the HOSPITALS are price gouging? Again....really? It's the hospitals that screwed everything up for American medical care? And PHARMACIES? How exactly are the Walgreens, Walmarts, Medicine Chests, etc. of the country messing up medical care So....tell me how YOU think they fit into the big picture? Now I'm very curious. Eh, I don't think polls are very accurate when they're trying to predict something very specific. As a way to just get the "general feeling" of the public, they fare a little better. Also, I always compare what I hear poll-wise with what the news is telling me, and what my neighbors and co-workers are telling me. I don't revere polls, that's for sure......anybody that's ever taken a statistics class knows how easily data can be manipulated via a "poll".

Tough love for fat people: Tax their food to pay for healthcare

I think he was Mayberry's resident mechanic? Really, there were too many clothes to have a true evaluation. There's a legit, medical site you can email naked pictures to and they'll give you objective opinions. I think it's treyswint.com or something like that. Why? Did you fart in the cubicle? What. The. Hell. kc, you promised you wouldn't post that story about me!

Warning, read this blog first, I implore you!
I posted some old MySpace blogs on here just for grins. Now what I wrote on MySpace was for a very specific audience of my friends and family....therefore, there will be a lot of "inside jokes" and a lot of un-PC references. Perhaps the most offensive thing about these blogs is that they aren't all that funny. But hey, If you have some time kill, read through and feel free to mock / jeer / diagree.

What specifically has been crap and misinformation fed to the public? Because not even congress (nor President Obama) knows the provisions of the bill so far. Rassmussen (sp?) yesterday, I think (could possibly have been Friday) on CNN. Something like 54% against, 42% for, 4% unknown. (maybe not the exact numbers, but that's ballpark). I'll try and get the newest poll numbers if you want, but really.....can't you tell that Americans aren't loving the new bill? If everybody was all in, congress would have passed it by now. But you just basically said a few posts back that "doctors, hospitals and pharmacies" have become profit-at-the-cost-of-our-health agencies. That's a pretty broad swipe.

I hate it when people post just to post.....
Some people like to interject their own "small minded" opinions into things. I should know......I'm one o' them. Sheesh....why don't you take a few more hours?!? I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but: Almost every single woman I saw on that show looked substantially heavier. I deal with people's height / weight almost nightly and I'm pretty good (pats myself on the back) at estimation, often times coming within 5 - 10 lbs. Having said that, I'm aware some people say TV adds some lbs. What do the rest of you think? Did they fudge the stats, or is it a trick of the TV? Also, most of those chicks had BOOBS! Wowza! Someday I'm going to see a pair of boobs. Me too. I make inappropriate comments to my wife in otherwise somber situations, which makes us both giggle. It's a defensive thing, I think. My worst time was the wedding of a co-worker. My whole row was caught on video giggling like schoolgirls. Ouch man! PJTP: I ported a lot of my old MySpace blogs over to here. Narcissism? Possibly. Anywho, read 'em if ya dare.....I strongly suggest reading the warning blog first.

Stop Calling it Socialized Medicine!
Don't take my word for it. Ask ANYbody that works in a hospital how their future is looking and get back to me. Even the much-lauded (by Obama) Mayo clinic continually loses money (they get by on federal grants, like most hospitals do). See, I don't even think there should be a cap on a really egregious malpractice error (like the wrong limb being amputated, for example). I do think that "junk" lawsuits need to be eliminated, as do the scummy lawyers that feed off this. So, do you think the hospitals and insurance companies are in collusion to make money? The hospitals and insurance are bitter enemies, with the hospital oftentimes not breaking even. Again, just ask anybody that works in a hospital. There's a lot of nurses on this board.....randomly ask any of them their thoughts (I'm curious too!). Yeah, if only we can get the evil doctors, hospitals and pharmacies under the government's thumb, everything will be all better. BJean, just curious....why do you think most Americans don't support this healthcare reform in its current form?
