  1. Don't you love how the higher ups schedule meetings respecting the hours of the night workers? Don't you wish you could schedule a meeting at, say, 0300, and see how THEY like it? Lu's right, it's officially summer here in Texas. I saw a road worker catch on fire today. It's that hot. Yay! I only have a short grace period until she's as disgusted and creeped out by me as the rest of you are!!
  2. * waits on a liberal to decry this article by saying it's all Bush's fault.
  3. Far be it from me to poke fun at a severe MVA trauma (although I certainly have in the past), but I blogged about a very funny experience I had trying to draw ABG's on a pretty bad trauma pt on MySpace. When I get home, I might cut and paste it to my blog on here.
  4. Well, tracy, this might sound a little harsh (I don't intend it to be), but if you're not ABSOLUTELY certain that the band is the operation for you, don't do it. I love my band.....but there is a lot of work that goes into it. I guess my advice would be: if in doubt, postpone and keep researching all surgeries until you you are absolutely certain that a particular surgery (if any) is for you. Good luck on your journey!
  5. That's great news, Steux. I hope time flies by for ya! Good luck!
  6. They call that stuff "June Grass", but it's really just little strands of seaweed. It was really bad that day (because the tide was unusually calm). The ocean was a pretty blue for the majority of the week. As for the semi-nude - PM'ing this info to you. It helps if you tip well. Also, putting the money in my front pocket and asking the server girl to get it herself works pretty good. *Note - all server girls in plain's sarcastic humor are aged 18 years or older
  7. I happily sport a customized Foley cath. It has "flames" airbrushed down the side and I have a self portrait on the collection bag. Why? Because I rock!!
  8. You mean you wear diapers?
  9. You're very close. I intubated my first patient at 11. I cleaned and replaced my first trach at 12. Some call me the "Doogie Howser" of the respiratory world. However, I got burned out and retired from the field at 14. You know how it goes. :wink2: Wheeeee! Mission accomplished! Yeeesh. Pregnant women scare the krap out of me!!
  10. But her crotch-flashing was clearly the result of a genetic medical problem: vaginashowoffitis. It affects nearly 1 in 3 young celebrities, quite tragic, really. Well, where do you think I got my purple silk pajamas with "PYT" printed on the back? They're very comfy. The only thing is, since they come from the MJ store, the back flap doesn't have a fastener on it. And it probably smells like "Bubbles". Yeah, I said it. dun-dun-DUN I think you're supposed to be looking in a mirror when you say the name three times.
  11. Oh, I'm here in the bushes, watching. My pants may or may not be on.....I can't confirm. Hmmmmm.....now I'm intrigued..... How much more would the happy ending have cost ya? I'm asking for a friend.....yeah....a friend. Me too! But I get funny looks when I go to Wal-Mart now. Again, me too. My tighty whities are color coded into four color categories: Yellow, Brown, Yellow/Brown, and New. This is the first time anybody has ever said my name and "large member" in the same sentence (without referring to my personality). Bless you, Beth. If "Stetson" is innuendo for "genitals", then my headwear would be a beenie. But a really big one. Yeah, that's the ticket. It's a trauma / ER reference. Look, they don't want perfection, they want you gone. There's a big difference.....they'd be all over you even if you gave them perfection. It may not be an option for you, but if it were me, I'd probably go to the boss and level with her. Something like: Look, we both know that we're playing the write you up game to try and run me off. I hope that your bosses treat you more professionally and more fairly than you've treated me. Then do your job and don't devote more than 5 minutes of thought to her, because that's just wasting your time and energy. All right! I'm an old respiratory man from way back in the day. For a couple of years, my hospital was a trauma center, and I loved it. Unfortunately, the hospital discovered that a trauma program is a big profit-flusher!! Why not take some semi nude pics? I've had some experience with that lately, and decided to post the unfortunate results on my facebook page, lmao....
  12. Just checking out the man room. Where's the poker game?
  13. Frankly, as I was reading this, I was thinking to myself "what kind of nurse has never seen a cataract". That would upset me more than anything she said (knowing such a person with limited experience might be somehow involved in my care).

  15. Everybody heals up a little differently, Joanie. Hang in there...it'll get better.
  16. Leah, I think everybody was nervous at the stage that you're at now. It won't do you any good to worry about all this stuff right now, so try and relax a little (easier said than done, I know). Sounds like your insurance is all set to approve you and you're just jumping through all the little (and not so little) hoops that we all have to do for our docs. Good luck!!
  17. Wow, Momm.....sounds like you're doing great!! Hope you get approval supa quick!!
  18. Hi Doris, welcome to lapbandtalk. You're right....there's a ton of stuff to read on here (and there's a lot of people to chat up as well), so get busy, lol. Good luck with your consultation.
  19. Hey Mike, welcome to lapbandtalk. Sounds like you have a pretty good plan going....don't push yourself, just do what you feel comfortable with. Good luck.
  20. Hi Michelle, welcome to lapbandtalk. Good luck with the surgey...I wish you a super fast recovery.
  21. Hey Shrink, welcome to lapbandtalk! Just hang in there....the hunger will get better as you heal up and start getting fills. I hope you can kick the crystal lite habit, lol!! Good luck!
  22. Ah, but that's the key....those people are backing the candidate BECAUSE of his party alignment, not because they believe he's the best candidate. Now, I'm pretty sure you voted for Obama because you thought he was the best candidate (seems you were an Obama supporter from the start, from what I can recollect....but correct me if I'm mistaken), not because he's the democratic pick, and that's cool. People who voted for Obama or McCain simply because of party....how is that helping America? That's helping the party!! That's your opinion. It's my opinion that strong party advocates will swallow anything the party bosses hand down: "Vote X,Y,Z if you're a republican / democrat". If people vote straight ticket, that signifies to me that they're not thinking about the individual races.....that they're just phoning it in. Ah, here's a great example of what I was talking about. What are Republican values, anyway? Are there no pro-choice republicans? Are there no gay republicans? Are republicans the only party that believes in the right of the individual citizen to bear arms? See what I mean? In reality, you're totally right. In a two party system like we have, if you don't vote republican, you're voting democrat, and vice versa. That's the thing (imo) that's slowly strangling our country. I keep hoping somebody will come along that values the country above party. That's why I voted for Kinky Friedman for gov.......voting for Friedman probably gave Rick Perry the election, but you know, I'm going to keep on voting the person, not the party.
  23. I get the vague impression that you would have been 100% behind anybody not Bush....
  24. For the thrill of the rush. It's the same reason why I annually bet my life savings on a single high-stakes blackjack game. It's also what drove me to become the regional "Russian Roulette" champion.
  25. Ladies, it happens all the time. If the victim in an adult rape case is reluctant to testify (for whatever reason), often the prosecutor will drop the charges before they compel the victim to testify. Now multiply that by a thousand when the case involves a kid......I mean, how is the prosecutor going to make the kid testify? Threaten him with jail time? No prosecutor in the country would do that.
