  1. Yeah man....weren't you on liquids for, like, 17 years? Welcome back to real food!! Sounds pretty wise to me. You know the drill. Stay hydrated, rest, and wait. You'll be better soon. Hey! You back? That's cool. Oh my. It was extremely chilly at my house. 48 degrees is cold in east Texas. Wow, finals already? Good deal.
  2. Ugh. Yet another perk of being a teacher, eh? 1st, - 76 lbs lost is a victory, no matter how you slice it. 2nd, I agree with you. I think for most bandsters the battle is overwhelmingly mental. The thing to remember is to just keep on fighting and working that band. It's a nice thought, but I don't think I'll be getting an invite for the family reunion, heehee. Oh that sucks. I think it's always a minor miracle that pets assimilate so easily into our families....and when they die it's like losing a member. Ah, the beauty of having a band. That's exactly how it's supposed to work. Heck, don't you know that anniversary dinner calories don't even count? LOL Have a good time.
  3. Pooly, are you really a friend of HH? Your tagline is a little ambiguous, heeheehee. Ebony, I salute your success, but damn you for bragging about it (j/k). PJTP lives on! Thank you for starting her back up, ebony.
  4. Well get 'em ready! You're about to be banded!!
  5. Hi amartyn. I don't know if you've already looked or not, but you might be able to find out more info under the "doctors and hospitals" subforum on the main page. Good luck!
  6. Hey emjay, you might get this info to more eyes if you repost it in the "local support" subforum on the homepage. Meeting groups are broken down by geographical location there. Good luck!
  7. Congrats mamacita. It's exciting to finally get a concrete date nailed down, isn't it? Good luck!
  8. Awesome, Joyce. New Year, new life change. I dig the poetry of it. Congrats!
  9. Beth, she doesn't have anything on me. Believe it or not, I have in the very recent past defended 2 members that I personally dislike because I thought it was the right thing to do. I would do it for anybody on here. I have done it for HH. I am just trying to do the right thing right now. It's fine to be angry with somebody, but why go out of the way to be cruel?
  10. Because you all are ganging up on somebody just to be mean. Remember when KC stepped in on the mom that was humiliating her daughter just to be mean? Now is the time to just. stop. being. mean.
  11. Yep, that's totally up to the individual. However, flinging the past back in somebody's face in a malicious way is not the right thing to do. If you don't like somebody, don't interact with them......but don't go out of your way to humiliate them.
  12. No, it's not. It's a privately owned website.
  13. Are you really asking me to ban you if I don't provide confidential info? Do you really want that? I just want to be totally clear on this subject.
  14. Hey, I know I said I wouldn't post anymore in this thread, but this is getting completely out of hand. Bringing up somebody's personal info that, at the time, was shared between friends is ridiculous. Stop all personal attacks now. I personally will ban anybody who persists in breaking the rules, even if it costs me some facebook friendships. Just think about it.....nobody is telling you to make up to susan, or be her friend, or even be nice. All you really have to do is ignore her and focus on your friends. Just stop the personal attacks, please. What would you advise your own children to do if they were in your shoes? Continue to participate in the bullying, or just let it go, knowing that you never have to speak to that person again?
  15. Hey coach. I don't have any diabetic-specific knowledge. You might get more answers if you post this question in the "diet and nutrition" subforum on the homepage. Good luck!
  16. Hi Terry. There's certainly no shame in admitting that you still need a "helper" with your appetite....heck, I think every single one of us on here could say that, even those of us that have made it to goal. I'm sorry to hear of your trouble. Here's hoping that the doc gives you some very good options to consider. Let us know how it goes! Good luck!!
  17. Hi Dean. You might want to check with your doc's office or nutritionist to see if there is a specific schedule that they want you to progress on (like how many days liquids, how many days mushies, how many days soft real foods, etc). Some docs don't have a set schedule, but most do. Basically, the idea is that when you put non-liquids in your stomach, the process of digestion causes your stomach to move.....this movement can delay the healing time of your band, or possibly even set you up for a future slip. I would ask the doc's office, just to be safe. As for other liquids, the most important is Water. You gotta get that water in, lol!! I also enjoy those sugar free drink mixes (like Crystal light, stuff like that). My favorite soft food was yogurt, grits, oatmeal, cream - of - wheat, etc. Once your band is fully healed in, "off-limits" food varies widely from person to person. I have trouble with doughy breads, but can eat almost everything else in small portions.
  18. It sounds cliche', but getting up and walking around (as you can tolerate it) really is the best thing for the soreness / gas.
  19. Hi loulou. If you're not feeling any real pain beyond a bit of soreness, and you don't have any other acute symptoms (ie, you can't keep anything down, or you suddenly feel zero restriction), then I think it's probably ok to wait out the 4 weeks for your doc's perspective. Just my opinion, though.
  20. See if this link helps: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker...ictures-41782/
  21. I know it's frustrating to have to wait these things out, but I think you're doing the wise thing, going with the "center of excellence". Hang in there!
  22. Sometimes when I "stretch" or move in an unusual way my port starts talking to me, lol. It always felt like a kind of a "muscle spasm" in my abs where my port is anchored, but that's just my opinion.
  23. Hi Renee. I know it's pretty common for our stomachs to be irritated / swollen after fills. For most people, this goes away pretty quickly (within a couple of days), but some people are more sensitive than others. You did the right thing consulting your surgeon, and it sounds like he gave you some pretty sound advice. Good luck!!
  24. Hi Jus, welcome to lapbandtalk. Congrats on taking a step to get your life back, and good luck!
  25. nessa, that really sucks! Is there any way your general practice doc will "work" with you on your medications? And will a letter from your doc and the surgeon to the insurance company help? For some insurances, letters from the doc can affect a decision. Good luck!
