Today is day 3. I'm feeling better. As per my serve in I have to keep it struck with the 4 Bariatric fusion shakes a day and a half cup of non starchy vegetables once a day. My required Water intake is 60 ounces. I have met that or surpassed it. I can't stand the broth. I tried it last night..... I'm still taking it hour by hour but today is better than yesterday

I was in hospital until Day 4 and not even close to getting enough fluids. Don't worry - concentrate on fluids first and then Protein. It's more important not to get dehydrated which can happen quickly. Walk and move around. Rock back and forth even while just sitting, wave your arms around, March in place. Try different temps of fluids - hot tea, warm broth, Powerade Zero, etc. You'll feel better soon. One hour at a time! I am 2 weeks post-op.

Hang in there. I followed mine strictly and lost 15 lbs. prior to surgery. It put me in a great starting position for losing. It was worth it and it got better after day 3.

liquids require grit and perseverance -- both pre- and post-op. I agree that you take it hour by hour and try to use broth to make it better. In my opinion, this entire journey is just as much a mental game as it is a physical game. The liquid diet portion of the journey is, perhaps, the biggest mental exercise of them all.
    Good luck!

Exactly!!! When we think of it in that aspect, our entire outlook will change. I never realized how true the saying is - we are what we eat (& drink)! For once, I am going to stop trying to rush this process & stop trying to rush jumping into the next food phase & start learning how to listen to my body. Thanx for sharing that info!

It depends what is on your plan right now. You can mix Protein powder with greek yogurt, sf pudding, Soup (not too hot), mashed potatoes (if allowed), etc. I'm on mushy foods and added it to roasted butternut squash (puree). I'm allowed veggies and fruit on my plan - but it's not as low carb as some want to be.

@@megnun21 I'll be 2 weeks out tomorrow. I'm not even bothering tracking weight loss at this point - we had a lot of swelling and Water retention from the IVs and weight can fluctuate up and down drastically during this time. Concentrate on getting plenty of fluids (at least 64 ozs) and meeting your Protein goals. Don't restrict foods - eat as your plan suggests! There's no way to compare your progress with anyone else. We all lose at different rates - and have different amounts to lose. Just keep doing what you're supposed to be doing - the weight will come off. It's not a race.

Despite the scale's recent stubbornness, it is nice to have other little rewards. My shirts are fitting MUCH looser, too.
(My pant size hasn't changed too much...this girl's got HIPS ).
@@LisaMergs, I agree with your post so much. The fat around my face was always what I hated the most. I felt like my identity was lost. I hated mirrors. So nice that the first thing to go is my face fat! I smile more now, already!

I agree. Verbal and emotional abuse are horrid. Fact. Don't deal with it, demand changes from him or change your address yourself.

I would consider it a good thing. It's really hard to over-do the fluids. The danger with too much Water is mainly just with athletes who aren't replacing the sodium they're sweating out as they're drinking copious amounts of Water and the electrolytes get dangerously out of balance.
The best formula for Fluid intake (which includes anything liquid, not just water) is 1/2 - 1 oz per lb of body weight. So someone weighing 150# should drink 75-150 oz of Fluid a day. More active people should be at the higher end, with some of that fluid (1/3 - 1/2 of intake) including electrolytes like a good sports drink.
Fluids help the body deconstruct the fat tissue and keep metabolism going strong. Before surgery, I was drinking 100+ oz of water a day. I'm not up to that amount yet post-op, but I keep working to get back up there. Shortly after surgery, I could only drink an ounce at a time. I can take regular sized swallows now, but I can't drink too much at one time or I get queasy.

No judgement here! I really don't give two shakes of a lamb's bottom if someone chooses to follow their surgeon's plan pre or post op. I **DO** however care that good, healthy information is given so that others reading can make an educated decision for their own sake and safety.

The phrase "we are all human" seems to be justification for bad choices and poor behavior and that is sort of ... uhm ... amusing? Puzzling? I mean, the guy who drives drunk is human as are those who text and drive. People who leave their pets or children in the car on a 100 degree day are human. The girl who was eating Swedish fish five days post op was human.
The cool thing about being human? We were given actual intelligence to make rational decisions instead of just following instinct. Again, no judgement. Your choices are your own. Don't get your feelings hurt when others come back with differing opinions, though, because they chose to follow directions to a tee.

I know everyone is human and everyone makes mistakes but I want to share something my surgeon has told me that when I start my pre next week it's gunna help me make the right choices. Last year they had someone that cheated on they're diet and never told them to make a long story short they almost lost her. She was in the icu for three months. U have to think u r not just risking ur life. But everyone in that surgical room is put at risk also. Just imagine they're discussions when something goes wrong in there. can we save her. We have to save her. How will they live everyday seeing that girl in they're head if they hadn't saved her. Bc of her own mistake they were all put at stake. The nurses the surgical team EVERYONE. Not hounding on anyone but before you make your decisions maybe think of that scenario and that it's not just ur life that can be affected by ur choice. Gl to all and hope that helps bc it definitely is gunna help me!!

@@TanishaP The only way I get my Protein is with an unflavored Protein Powder as @@blizair09 suggested. If you don't do that - you'll probably have to supplement with shakes still (which is something I couldn't stand anymore). I bought GENEPRO and it is really good - I've added it to butternut squash and sugar free pudding and you can't even tell it's in there.

Peanut butter has a lot of calories and fat and often sugars so it's something you need to be careful with and limit. Try PB2 though - you get the Peanut Butter taste and better macros.
