Post-op, I just couldn't do Protein Shakes anymore - ordered Genepro based on recommendations and it might be just what I needed. I've been enjoying my mushy foods but couldn't get enough protein and Isopure protein drinks are somewhat disgusting. I just added a scoop of Genepro to roasted butternut squash and it's delicious. I'm hoping my stomach agrees with me.

I've been using it for a few months now, and I've done great. I've considered the concern about grams of protein/grams of powder and count it as 20g instead of 30g, just in case. I use it every morning in my coffee, and mix it into most of my soft food when I need that extra protein. I've been VERY happy with it, despite the concerns about the science.

I'm glad to get any protein from it - even if it's not 30 gms. I've done horrible with protein since I had surgery. I've been lucky to get 30-40 gms all day.

Ive read more than one poster reference a concern of sorts with this product. What are some of the key "science" concerns with GENEPRO?

The biggest one is that they claim 30g of Protein from 15g of product and since grams are a weight measure, not quite sure how that happens.

Genepro claims to make 30g of protein bioavailable in a 1T scoop. 1T is 14-ish g of weight, depending on what the item being measured is. People don't believe the electrophoresis process can refine the protein into a more bioavailable form. I have access to enough science-y people who say that it's quite possible and actually very likely. It's up to each person to determine whether they are Genepro fans or not, but what it boils down to for me is that it's at the very least 15g/T and it's the only protein powder I can stand the smell/taste/texture of, so I use it. I've lost 63 lbs since the end of June and am on track for my interim goals to my larger goal, so I consider it a good product FOR ME and will continue to use it unless something changes.

Basically Genepro's competitors do not understand the idea of purified Protein (getting rid of all the waste) and the addition of prohydrolase to increase protein bioavailability. Many of the competitors that are "complaining" about GENEPRO are themselves under a lawsuit for spiking their protein powder.

Right I should say they say their 15g is EQUIVALENT to most brands 30g, because since grams are weight you can't get 30g in 15g. But there is the potential to get absorption of an equivalent amount of Protein.

I'm long past the Protein supplementation stage, but I asked my daughter about GENEPRO (she's a doctor). She could not find any clinical studies or nutritional analyses that support the company's claims. The science behind the product is based on insitu experiments (meaning in a test tube) and theories projected from studies of other products. She couldn't say if it was good or bad, just that there have never been any published trials that measures the actual bioavailability and absorbability of Genepro. These are very basic, simple studies that even dog and cat food have to go through for the nutritional profiles printed on the bags. It is not an FDA approved product and Until this company proves their claims with clinical trials, she considers it just snake oil.

Seems to me the company could legitimize itself and its product by simply conducting these basic trials (if the product really is what they claim). But on the other hand, they've got millions of customers buying their products with no proof whatsoever that it's anything but a white powder that dissolves in Water, so I guess strategic marketing trumps science in this case.

NO Protein powders or supplements are FDA approved. The FDA won't test protein supplements because they don't regulate them. And 'in situ' means 'in place' or 'on the premises'.

I'm married to a physician and have access to an entire department of bariatric surgeons who have extensive real-world experience with patients using GENEPRO and they have no issues with their patients using it because a) it works. My personal 'proof' that it's effective is over 60lbs of weight loss in 5 months, with no loss of muscle and great healing from my sleeve surgery and a subsequent orthopedic surgery.
