  1. Amen to that. I think it's sad that people feel the need to lie about/hide their surgery when asked about how they lost weight like it's a dirty little secret. Most people won't believe this whole "diet and exercise" schlock anyway.
  2. That's what your surgeon told you? Yeah, these evil bananas, apples, pears, oats and beans make and keep people fat. Right. I absolutely hate it when people generalize these sort of things, especially when so called "pros" are doing it.
  3. I buy at the store where they carry the kind of clothes I like to wear. I don't care if I wear an S, M or L so I can't relate to taht. I think it's super annoying that sizes vary from brand to brand, e. g. Odlo seems to run rather large, Endura medium and Gore extra small. I recently got a Gore running shirt for winter, thick and with a hoodie and it's an XL - it fits perfectly not only in width but also when it comes to the length of the sleeves and I'm only 167 cm! Now compare that to the Endura bike jacket I got in S this autumn.

Anyone else has the impression that the actual size of clothes changed over the time of years? I can remember when about 20 years ago I wore a size M - about 40 or 42 EU size. Well, I now wear that size again since a whole while, even though I still weigh about 7 kg more than I was back then. I have the impression that the same size now means a bigger dress. Anyone else?
  5. What exactly were you eating when you were losing weight? What are you eating now?
  6. So this is more of a body image issue than anything else maybe and might have little to do with your friend's remarks. Ignore it. Work on your body image. Anything you will say to them about this issue will most likely be seen as offending anyway.
  7. I also got to that part but my first thought was "Holy crap, she can eat a lot!" - and these are not your typical "slider foods". If she doesn't spread it out over an hour or longer I'd say the amount is quite a lot. That cheeseburgers, fries and coke are not a good choice for various reasons (regardless of how fat or thin a person is), that's another story.
  8. I would have told any psych anything to get approved. Of course the sagging skin sucks. Of course other things surgery related suck - but it's still better than having a BMI of 46. Was I "ready for surgery"? Was I "prepared"? Actually I don't care if I was and I think that there are certain things you "can't be prepared for", this includes WLS. You will only know if you were "ready" if you can cope after surgery.
  9. Hm, double post again... No idea why.
  10. I had a similar problem when they cut out the band. Lots and lots of scar tissue. The band had also already started to migrate. I had to wait, too, and was devastated because the surgeon said it was too risky to do MGB in the same session.
  11. Yeah, more spammers. They tend to come waves.
  12. It won't be the last time. You can mostly eat that stuff again once your stomach has healed. --- If it will make a difference I don't know. Gut feeling says "no" because I didn't even have a pre-op diet but then again I didn't have a large liver and I don't know how much of a difference to liver size the pre-op diet really makes. How long was your pre-op diet?
  13. People tend to do this when it comes to fat people, regardless if the person had WLS or not. Somehow it's a crime when a fat person eats chocolate but perfectly acceptable if a thin person does eat the same amount of chocolate or even more of it.
  14. Depends on the topic. There are certain "hot irons" that are better not to be touched. Regain or revisions being two of them.
  15. The problem is: you're going to get them anyway.
  16. This. People are going to notice anyway and some of them will be asking questions. Then you can either lie to them and make up a story of "lifestyle changes" and "healthy eating and exercise" or you can tell the truth. If you're lucky you can get away with "I don't want to talk about it" and let the rumors start. I didn't broadcast but when asked about it I tell people I had surgery. It's a legitimate surgical procedure and not some dirty little secret one has to be ashamed about.
  17. I have a Problem with that as well. I can eat these foods when combined with something like rice or bread etc. - I seem to feel best on foods that have relatively balanced macros.
  18. Pasta. They forgot the pasta. (and all the other grains) --- Seriously now: if you can stomach the Vital Wheat Gluten you can eat it. If it doesn't agree with your body for some reason, don't eat it.
  19. Thread starter has obviously vanished into thin air.
  20. Yowza! New local bariatric super hero sleeved roughly 4.5 months ago just around the corner! ROTFL.
  21. Yeah, it's kind of hard to adapt sometimes, isn't it? Let's work within the boundaries our bodies set us.
  22. Jeez, I hope you didn't want to come across as smug and bitchy as that sounds. Yes, and "we" will be here again if we don't change attitudes and really honest-to-God stop believing that strict rules can be followed endlessly just like that. You were sleeved only a few months ago and I guess that still means "honeymoon". Lets talk again about following rules imposed by other people (surgeons/nutritionists/studies) 5 years down the road. And if you should think "therapy" now - maybe you would be surprised what eating disorder therapists have to say about these "rules".
