  1. I am not sure what the issue was that night- I chewed till the tuna was near liquid. Nonetheless, pain is all gone! Thank you so much for responding!
  2. thanks everyone- unfortunately i dont feel that I can go to my doc for advice (story for another post) the packet I have says that during this phase i can have soup (not creamy) I have the canned high sodium variety on the counter (chicken and rice since I have read many have trouble with noodles) mostly I have just been having things like eggs and tuna (allowed in my packet) and pudding or yogurt. the soup was looking delicioso tonight as my heat is not working! And no worries girls, I know better than to eat solids! (I went out to dinner tonight with people from work and ordered hummus and ate it with a spoon- they were all quite grossed out) No one from work knows I am banded so I guess they just think I am weird!
  3. My understanding is that we are allowed to have soup- is this the one exception to eating liquids with food? Do you all just eat the goodies out of it? How the heck does this Soup thing work?? ps I am on mushy phase
  4. I have been so meticulous with all the other rules, this one just doesnt seem to process in my brain- I have only done it twice- but each time i get so irritated with myself because I automatically put the straw there without thinking. I really do have to pay more attention!
  5. I keep forgetting I am not allowed to drink through a straw- I look down after drinking half my libation, there is the straw (which i then throw out!) I read not to use one because we tend to drink too fast that way and swallow air. Has anyone else heard anything regarding drinking through a straw??
  6. Thanks for all your comments everyone!! :smile2:
  7. any updates schnuggle?? how are you doing?
  8. the band is probably higher than you think... do you feel a bump there? then it just might be your port- a lot of people have them placed in the middle between their breasts. where is your port scar? is it midline?
  9. I am self pay too but I already had one so I put it on (squeezed into it actually) I am hoping it is okay b/c i dont know if i can get it back off!
  10. Dr. Malley has recently hired a (nurse or PA- I cant remember) whom he is training to do fills. Last time I went her insurance was not in place so she was shadowing him. I go for my first fill in a few weeks, I will keep you all updated if you want.
  11. Has anyone worn one of these after surgery or heard anything about it. I looked through the posts and saw that people used them after PS but not too much on after the band. Well I have one and I put it on (almost 4 weeks post op) and it seems to be helping my port pain and residual soreness. Do you think there would be any reason *NOT* to wear it??
  12. Do you get unfills before you go??
  13. i love the benefiber chewables, miralax works well as a laxative/stool softener. I have had a lot of trouble since banding. see what your doc says about using fiber- I have heard different things
  14. thanks Kat- and way to go on your amazing weight loss- I bet u are a hottie in a scuba suit now!!
  15. thanks- I read all of the previous posts, they addressed the fact that the band itself can withstand pressure changes, I am more concerned that an air bubble in the fundus could expand with ascent causing a slip- I dont think anyone has addressed that! how do i "bump" my post??
  16. I love scuba diving, and I was wondering what info you have all gotten. I realize that ideally the band has only Fluid in it, I am worring that air trapped in the pouch and stomach during an uncontrolled ascent might cause a slip. I called Inamed and they said no research had been done on it and therefore could not give me an answer. My Doc offered an unfil before going (for the standard fee of course!) From what I have read on here many have gone without any problems! I was wondering if i should limit my dives to places with a cable or rope so i can better control how fast I surface. Any thoughts??
  17. I did that too- and only found ONE willing to take me, so I made an appt, when I called to confirm my appt, they changed their minds!!
  18. My port was placed on the right just inferior to my ribs- The port often hurts and feels like it is rubbing against my ribs, esp when i take a deep breath or move. Anyone else have this issue?
  19. good luck to you too, Andi!! I will keep my fingers (and legs) crossed for you!!:biggrin2:
  20. I asked my surgeon if I would have it and he completely blew it off! That scared me since it seems to be such a common theme on here! Many rec gas-x. Mine did go away with time.
  21. I have heard different things about caffeine- my surgeon said it would be okay. I can only assume that some rec no caffeine b/c of it's effect on gastric motility. That being said, i did have a skinny latte last night, (at least i got some skim milk that way) Have any of you heard why no caffeine?
  22. YAY I can finally cross my legs!! This has always been a goal for me! Granted I have to shift my tush so that I am on a slant, but going in the right direction! I cant wait for the day when I can sit in a seat and cross my legs all comfy and ladylike! Any non-band goals for you all to look forward to???
  23. i didnt get to see mine, was sealed and sent to my surgeon! I agree with the other posters, I doubt it will cause an outright denial, but it cant hurt to get some therapy and get it documented!
  24. yep! that is why i got the band! to be sated on less!! can't wait
