  1. jude -sounds like your sweet spot is somewhere between 7.5 and 8. From the boards it sounds like the closer you get to your sweet spot the tinier the adjustments. Maybe you need another .2 or .3 Good luck!
  2. that does makes some sense- i just wonder if I am not paying attn to my body closely enough- but honestly if could stop at just a subtle clue of fullness I might not have needed the band! I have never PB'd or experienced a lot of pain after eating- but on occasion i do get some mild discomfort if i have eaten too much
  3. thanks girls! i am looking forward to this "restriction" you all speak of!!
  4. thanks, she pulls fluid out each time- she didnt think i had a leak. I have been losing weight the same way i did in the past- but the other night i was out with friends and I ate way more than i should be able to without any PBs, pain, or anything... sometimes i worry about dilitation- but my doc's office wont give me a barium swallow.
  5. I have 7.5cc in my 10cc band and barely feel restriction- can eat whatever and however much i want- the NP at my doctors office looks like she doesnt believe me is this abnormal? I was wondering if half of it could be in the tubing
  6. I have 7.5cc in my band and barely feel restriction- can eat whatever and however much i want- the NP at my doctors office looks like she doesnt believe me is this abnormal?
  7. do you know if they "primed" the tubing at all? congrats on your awesome weight loss!!!
  8. Hi all- I have seen posts about this before but would like to put up a poll. Please round to the closest number. Please only vote if you are close to your sweet spot or at least have good restriction- I am trying to determine the average fill to sweet spot in a 10cc band.
  9. what happens if you go to a fill center and u have a slip or something? is there a doctor affiliated with fillcenters to help?
  10. i left the hospital a few hours after my surgery
  11. your surgeon cannot fix a barrett's- with time and decreased acid a barretts can heal. your doc will probably start you on proton pump inhibitors. weight loss can only help your GERD. I found that mine went completely away after my band
  12. interesting cat- I have been fat and thin as well- my experience is that both men AND women treated me better when I was thin. I grant that some of that is because I felt better and was more confident thin. There is a girl I work with that is much heavier than me, but she is so beautiful and she shines from the inside and everyone loves her.
  13. pre band the night time binges were my biggest obstacle, and they are post band too. is that the same beck of cognitive behavioral therapy fame?
  14. i know this sounds lame, but i swear sometimes i just say that old mantra "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels" often when that doesnt work and i am about to pull up to the taco bell drive through i just ask myself "really, do you REALLY want to do this?" it works about 50% of the time. maybe doing something nice for yourself like a massage or nails will make you get back in the state of mind that you are a goddess and you should treat yourself right. p.s. how does saline evaporate from a closed circuit?
  15. mine already sticks out! you can see it through my clothes! i had my band done by a different doctor than my fill doctor (who is awesome). my fill doctor said he should have used a low profile port. I am worried that when (not if- being positive here) i drop more weight it is gonna look like a golf ball hanging off my ribs.
  16. I am also a lifetime WW member- i probably should start going again but meetings are so tough for me in my job. as far as being banded- hey people have different genetics and different hunger levels and different sized stomachs. mine happens to have a band around it. big dealio! i still have yet to feel restriction- I ate a bunch of gooey pizza two weeks ago with nary an uncomfortable twinge except the agita i felt for the next 72 hours worrying that i stretched my pouch.
  17. Ara- are you on any extended release meds? Please make sure you review your meds with your docs b/c you may not be able to swallow some of your pills. The ones that arent extended release are probably crushable. Good luck to you!! *fingers crossed*
  18. I could swear I read an article somewhere that the most your surgeon should decrease the stoma size to in a 10cc band is 4mm. Could this be part of the confusion?
  19. I really don't want anyone at work knowing. I took vacation time to get it done, and I really wasnt ready when I came back to work. One co-worker caught me crying in my office when I was in so much pain and I let it slip that I had had some surgery and later I asked her not to mention it to anyone. I never said what kind it was. As far as the liquid diet, everyone thinks I am weird anyway- so a wacky diet is no surprise! I told one friend- she is fairly supportive but didnt think I needed it b/c I had gotten down to a size 4 and stayed there for 7 years before. It was just such a struggle before that I am hoping this band will make it more tolerable. Good luck to you whatever you decide! I will say this- I am paranoid that I might get a complication and have to miss work- I don't know how I will explain that. The initial surgery was planned on my vacation time.
  20. thank you so much for your posts- I do feel better!! I have another fill scheduled in 2 weeks... hopefully will have some restriction then... I need to stop reading this board for a little bit- I have terms like "pouch packing" "esophageal dilation" "pouch dilatation" and "slippage" all swirling around inside my head... I wonder how irritating neurotic newbies are to more seasoned bandsters- thank you again for your stories!!
  21. i wonder that too- so far after one fill i havent felt like stopping.... hopefully things will change with better restriction
  22. I ate pizza today!!! PIZZA- and then to make matters worse, I had a taco bell crunchwrap chicken supreme for dinner! I am two months post op and had 1 fill so far. I feel zero restriction and can eat any amount of anything! I have been so good up until this point. Now I am all worried I stretched out my pouch! I have mild discomfort bordering on pain but havent PBd or vomitted. I am so disgusted and upset with myself for making such bad food choices and not being able to stop. Tomorrow is a new day- I will go on liquids for a little bit just in case I stretched anything out. I hope I didnt do any long term damage. Any words of reassurance or perhaps stories of where you have strayed and got back on track would be very much appreciated!
  23. why did you do your evaluation with a psychologist anyway? that is very unusual. usually they will want you to see an MD.
  24. definitely keep logging your blood sugars that way when u do see a doctor they can tailor your therapy. (if needed- sounds like your glucose is just about right) you can take it before breakfast and dinner one day, alternating with before lunch and bedtime the next- that way there are 4 points to reference. next time you feel dizzy definitely take your blood sugar before taking a glucose pill to make sure that it actually is hypoglycemia making you feel that way- good luck!
