I just celebrated 200 lbs. lost in 9 months. Same as Kinda Familiar, quite healthy, just fat (with apnea). The sleeve was the right choice for me. I have heard that amazingly fast changes can be made with diabetes for people that have the bypass. The pressure on my CPAP has been reduced by half. I followed the guide lines to a letter post op, no issues. My sense of taste and smell has changed. Just had some of a Hot Cross Bun for Lent, been eating them my whole life, and really like them. I remember them being "yummier". Did not trip my trigger, didn't WANT to finish it, so I didn't. That would NEVER have happened before. I agree with other people that I wish I had done this sooner, but in all actuality it happened at JUST the right time, when I was ready. Ask lots of questions, but follow your heart, it rarely lies.

I have used Aldi's Elevation. A scoop of chocolate + 1 T instant coffee, YUM. the price is right...I am having some challenges with sugar so I found another GENEPRO II. Micronized medical Protein. 30 g. protein, 0 sugars, 50 calories, about 1 T in volume. A little over $1.25 a serving. I wished I'd known about this product 3 years ago!!! Look around online, many sale prices. I have had good luck with EBay.

3 mo. post op. Still doing good. I am down about 45lbs since surgery on 2/12/18.
Still working on Protein and getting enough Water in and taking my Vitamins on time. I set an alarm for it and it worked at first but I sometimes ignore it.
No complications (knock on wood) and I feel fine.
Cravings are still close to gone. Every now and then I will get a craving but it usually passes after drinking water or a liquid.
I don't really care for sweets, including pop. I cannot believe i am saying that because I was a heavy snack food junkie.
I am getting out and enjoying the weather as much as i can. Every step counts.
I can tolerate pretty much any food that i have tried. I constantly looking for healthy recipes, as I am trying to stay away from fried and frozen foods. Drop some recipes if you know of any (that are good).
I still get kinda frustrated after being full after 3 bites, i sit there and stare at the food like really? lol
I plan on buying a bike and hitting the trail that i walk on in the morning. We shall see.

How FUN!!! I love the fact I can walk into a room and not look around for a chair that will hold me or that I will fit in. Yes, the Water slides were fun. Now I need a roller coaster or 2!

DavidOso got a reaction from magedelkady in Sleevers, Ramadan and fasting.
I don't know the specifics of a Ramadan fast, but I would think there would be exceptions for medical reasons. Pregnant women, the elderly, small children, I hear, are allowed exceptions. My thoughts would be...Eating and drinking at this stage for you is almost like taking medicine. If you are taking your "medicine" in a holy way, your body is healing and that physical health may make your prayers stronger. Also look at things this way, this year you need to take "medicine", but next year, a physically healthier you will be better able to handle a fast...still maybe not the entire time of daylight, but MANY more hours. Please understand that these are just thoughts from one who does not know, but are given with the hope that no physical crisis comes at this holy time.

I am a 13 year user. I have a nasal mask(mirage ultra). One of the things I find helpful is to run the hose up over your head, hooked over the head board. I am a side sleeper, so the hose is lined up with my nose, not pulling off to the side causing air leaks. It sounds odd, but try it, it makes a HUGE difference for me. At the 6 month post op mark, my pressure was cut in HALF!!! I still have about 100 to loose and when I get to my goal weight will have a sleep study done to see if I can "Can" the cpap. Fingers crossed, it PROBABLY will happen. Good luck and sweet dreams!

at 5 weeks out i was drinking 80 oz of Fluid a day INCLUDING my smoothies. i kept fluid next to me at all times; from when i got up until about 8 pm, or i would be up all night. experiment with bigger sips, small mouthfuls and see how it feels. you almost need to have the mentality of a nurse pushing fluids on a feverish child. i am almost 6 months post op and routinely drink 96 oz a day. for me, this is enough and i will stay at this level. this helps with keeping things moving, too. congrats on your successes.

DavidOso got a reaction from Icantbelieveit in Hoping someone can tell me about chia seeds
As with any seeds (flax, chia, sesame etc.) it is best to grind them first. I use a $10 coffee grinder that is only for seeds. The outer shells are pretty tough, and most of the nutritive value is wasted, if not ground. A little soak doesn't hurt either. Make your smoothie and 10-15 mins later the seeds have soaked and also slightly thickened your drink. About 1 Tbsp. a day is a good place to start.

Great moments! Fit in the booth. No seat belt extender. Too small to shop the Big and Tall store anymore. Sit on the floor AND get up without a crane. One more carrot I'm chasing...graduating from my CPAP.

I actually vomited the first time I pumped gas. Diesel, cigarette smoke, a roof being tarred, super sweet smell driving by a bakery. I'm about 14 months post op, this has diminished somewhat, but not totally. NOT IN THE BROCHURE!!!

Congratz on a key moment for you. Sitting at a booth without spilling all over the table and sitting in an airplane seat without worry of offending a stranger sitting by me were key moments for me too. Thank you for sharing it.
