  1. I know we all have goals, dreams, inspirations. I would just like to hear what some of those are for other people. I'm not talking about reaching the ultimate goal of loosing the weight, but the other stuff. Like I always wanted my belly button pierced...did that in May of this year. Now I want to run the Chicago Marathon in the year 2012. Why that year...because I will be 40, hopefully at my goal weight, out of school, and should just have life in order by then. So what is it that drives you?
  2. I'm 5'2" and wear a size 8. Having trouble finding jeans that fit at that size though, just had to purchase a size 11/12 now I have to buy a belt which I have never worn in all my life don't even know how to. The jeans drive me nuts also because they are low rise and I just feel like my junk is hanging out. I really like talking with you. You make me feel better about myself and the struggles I seem to be having. I now see that I'm not the only person with these problems and I'm not alone in any of this. It's also nice knowing that I'm not the only one who has turned into a scale whore. I was asked one time by someone to discribe what it's like to have lapband. I was like it's like having multiple eating disorders...you workout all the time, only eat a small amount, and sometimes have to throw it up. Would I do it all again? Well I guess I would since I don't need medication, and I did do it again to have my tubing and port replaced. That is the reason I can only do cardio right now I haven't been released for lifting or straining yet. Thanks for encouraging me.
  3. My goal weight for myself is 140, but the doctor says NO that he wants me down to 125. Right now I'm struggling with the 156-154. I weigh myself every morning and yeah I know I should throw the scale out and stop, I'm so bad with the scale that I even weight myself before bed to see how much I ate and gained that way I can beat myself up before I fall asleep. Then of course if the scale isn't so nice in the morning that starts the mood for the day. I just can't seem to get my groove back for the whole program. I still workout like a mad woman and I think my body is changing, I thought that 2 months ago when I had to get weighted and measured well it changed alright wrong...she claimed I gained like 6 inches. I go next week for that fun again, and once again I think my body is changing...we'll see in which direction this time.
  4. I don't need a fill what I was really looking for was a way to break this plateau. I need to hear how everyone broke out of this without having a fill, my restriction is fine and has been fine since my port replacement surgery on July 6 of this year. I do cardio 5-6 days a week can't do any lifting so weights are out of the question for now. I'm learning once again what I can and can't eat (what gets stuck and doesn't). I put 14 pounds back on before surgery, I have only lost 4 since surgery, but I struggle with the same 5-10 pounds. I feel like I'm loosing and then I get on the scale and I haven't moved. So I just need some help trying to break this cycle. Oh I also had a personal trainer at one point, I had to get rid of her after she told me that I was fat and lazy and that my diet sucks...she should have seen me before I had surgery.
  5. I workout for an hour a day 5 days I try to do more and sometimes I do, but when I don't workout at all because life got in the way, i feel guilty like i let someone down or something.
  6. the leak must have come later. For like 6 months I would only have restriction after a fill then 3 days later nothing...I gained back like 14 pounds. Since surgery and seeing the doctor a week after had already lost 4 pounds. That's really cool have never met anyone that has the same date as me, our weights were almost the same...mine starting weight was 233.9/154.2now but I have been down to 144.
  7. I was banded January 18, 2007...and had port replacement surgery on July 6, 2009. I feel like I have gotten a second start on loosing weight. I say that because for like 6 months I didn't have any restriction except for like 3 days after a fill then nothing, Port was leaking. Now I have a question for someone anyone...I just switched protein because I was needing a new flavor and stuff, so I'm liking muscle milk right now and the question is...Is anyone using and loosing with muscle milk?
  8. you wanted to know if it's just you or has everyone had a rude person to deal with. Well to start my story I have always wanted a belly button ring but never did it when I was heavier. I just done it a couple of months ago. I posted something on this website about wanting a belly button ring, and had someone actually post...well if you are getting your belly button pierced you must not have been that heavy and probably didn't need lapband at all. I don't know who they were to judge, and yes not everyone starts out at the same weight, and I was heavy for my height and it was only getting worse. I'm proud of where I'm at and where I'm going because I know where I have come from, and that's why I did the belly button ring. Keep your head up, stay strong, and keep going...because no one can hold us back.
  9. Well had my port replaced this morning and got home about 2 hours after surgery. Everything went fine, he said he did think the port was leaking but he replaced it anyway...he couldn't find a leak. He also fixed the tubing because he was thinking that it was getting a crimp in it. Boy is my stomach sore. I can exercise starting tomorrow and drive then also. No heavy lifting or bending. He filled my band while I was in surgery.
  10. I got my date for surgery for the port replacement it's this Monday July the 6th. I was wondering though from everyone who has had a replacement what kind of restrictions did you have after your replacement. I know my doctor was telling me that I would be like on clears for a day then full liquids, then normal food...just like when you get a fill. I was just wondering about exercising, lifting, driving, things like that.
  11. I just got my surgery date it's July 6th. That's when they are going to replace my port and fix my tubing. Yippie that means that I will be back onto the road to weight loss, I'm tried of gaining and watching the scale go into the wrong direction
  12. the doctor said all he would have to do is cut me where the port is and that would be it, just that small cut once again...i also need to have my tubing shortened because when i lay flat you can see it under the skin it looks like a worm
  13. I need to a new port. The port is self sealing, what that means is when they stick it to fill it, it should seal itself. If you have had a lot of fills that self sealing material stops working, and that's what causes it to leak. I have already put almost 20 pounds back on. That's because the haven't changed my port yet, they just keep waiting, can't decide. I'm working out trying to eat right, but it's so hard because I keep waiting for restriction to tell me to stop and I don't have that feeling.
  14. some people have lost the majority of their weight and feel that they look great, better then what they looked like before surgery and feel good about what they have done, and want to have their belly button pierced. Some people here shouldn't be so judgemental about who they think should and shouldn't have lapband.
  15. I was banded January 18, 2007. I have lost all but 30 or 40 pounds...it's different every other day. I go to the gym 3 to 5 times a week, and lately the only way i see the scale move is up. I hate seeing that so i hate going to the gym anymore. Have thought of hiring a trainer, can't really afford one though. I eat like a chow hound after i workout, don't know why...try to stop. Let's just say i eat less when i don't workout. Then when the doctor goes though my food journal he tells me that i haven't been eating enough. Pleaded with him to fill me the last couple of months...the first month it was your not eating enough, last month not doing it because you lost weight...i lost weight because i had the stomach bug that was going around, so all the weight that i lost due to the bug is back and it brought relatives.lol. Someone just slap me and call me done.
  16. Has anyone ever had to have their tubing or band replaced? I was banded on January 18, 2007.... and when I got filled a couple of weeks ago, they couldn't seem to get all the fluid out to put all the fluid back in. So when I seen the doctor this week, there was nothing in my band, even though two weeks before they put in 3.2. I have to go back this coming week to see if the same thing has happened again. That is when the doctor told me that he thinks that there is something wrong with the tubing to the band from the port.
  17. you weren't a supermodel then, but maybe that's all he could get, maybe he's nothing to look at. He's scared though because he can see in his minds eye that one day you are going to be a supermodel, and that you may dump him for someone else that treats you better and may be better on the eyes. I believe that you don't need him around right now because you only need good support, and love. He needs to understand that.
  18. I told the same story to my mother and father in law. I felt it wasn't any of their business, they don't care for me anyway. I finally told though. Now my mother in law is wanting to know everything about the surgery. You will tell the people that you want to know, and for those you don't tell right away you will tell them when you are ready.
  19. have you ever gained inches? I did and can't understand how. Then when I was measured this month I lost alot of inches, but still having a hard time tring to figure out why i gained inches that one month. I like your rule for weight gain.
  20. I'm a scale watcher, and I was liking the numbers that I was getting after the fill. I liked the numbers that I got this morning, it's tomrrow that scares me to death.
  21. yeah i could tell a difference after he unfilled me just that little bit. Before I had stomach cramps, pain in my chest and back. Then afterwards it was like heaven...no pain. But today I kind of wish i would have just lived with it tight, because I feel like I did before the fill.
  22. The band is just a tool...alot of hard work and exercise to make the tool work the way that everyone wants it to. I mean if you never exercise you will see some weight loss but not the numbers that you would love to see. As far as being diabetic, I can only tell you of my experience. I was diabetic, had my first prescription in my hand for insulian when I decided that I didn't want anything to do with being diabetic. So I found a hospital that was offering a weight loss seminar, meet with the doctor that night (that was October of 2006) filled out all the paperwork and got the process started. I had surgery January 18, 2007. I haven't had to check my sugar levels, and I never needed to fill that prescription either. I only have to take my thyroid medication and even that has dropped levels. I love my Band.
  23. all this just happened to me over this weekend. I got filled on Thursday and by Saturday I couldn't even sip water without throwing up. I called the doctor and he had me come in right away so he could take out just a little amount of the fill.
  24. all I can suggest is just drink your water try not to think about it. I will be truthful though, I thought about what i wanted to eat as soon as I could use the blender. That was the best meal I think I had ever ate, and that's only because I waited so long to eat it.
  25. i was filled on Thursday 1/24...and had to call the doctor this evening to have him take a small amount out. I couldn't even drink water (big gulps) without it sitting in the back of my throat, then all i could do was vomit water. This was the first time that I was ever filled so tight. The doctor said Thursday that he only put in so much, and that he could actually get more in but wasn't about to push it...maybe so much was to much for me.
