  1. Jullian...I remember it well...that creeping skin feeling. It does get better. I couldn't stand to have the elastic of my waistband anywhere close to my port (which is also very high). It took me about 6 months to even want to wear jeans. But, after about 17 months, I even forget I have a port and all is well. Good luck to you!
  2. Wonderful post, Bob. So nice when ppl share stories like this.
  3. Spoiltmom...I would give your new fill a couple of weeks...just speaking from personal experience. I have had two fills. First one...NOTHING....Second one....NOTHING. I was soooooo disappointed that I could not feel any restriction. Well, two weeks later I felt it. Not too tight but could tell. I was on the fence for a while thinking I should have another. That was two years ago and I am perfectly satisfied with the amount of fill I have. Also, I am a believer in eating mini-meals throughout the day. My doc had strict rules of eating 3x daily. I could not function. I spread out my cals and it worked perfectly for me. But, not promoting this...just sharing it worked for me. Good luck...hope your fill kicks in.
  4. Congrats, Kristina! Keep it going! You look ONEDERFUL!!!
  5. You will build up your stamina with each week. You will be so surprised as you lose the weight how much energy you will have. Keep moving and adding more each time. Maybe you should try drinking a bit of protein drink b/4 your walks to give you a little boost. I know I am always tighter after physical exertion.
  6. Being up and about after surgery is a good thing. My doc encouraged as much walking as a person felt they could do. I was walking at least 2 miles a day 4 days after surgery. But, if you are concerned as to what your limits should be with exercise, give your doc's office a call and get some answers. Good luck as you start on this journey.
  7. I had to do a six month medically supervised diet prior to surgery that turned into eight months. I was able to lose 52lbs during that time. I was thrown the question many times as to...if I could lose the weight why have surgery...I COULD SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. And, I knew once I got to goal, I would have help via the lapband to help me keep it off and keep that hunger at bay.
  8. I donated most of mine to Salvation Army about three times...Hit goal...thought I was done losing...donated...down another size and donated again. Some of my "special" peices I gave to some LBT online friends that were a few months behind me.
  9. Atkins 17-20gr protein bars...make sure to look for the 4gr or less sugar Beef jerky Kashi Go-Lean 13gr protein cereal. I break it down into 1 cup snack bags Soynuts or dried edamame
  10. There's a food and nutrition thread that has lots of great band-friendly recipes and food ideas.
  11. Hey Viv...just noticed your ticker. You are only 8lbs from goal. Way to go! Congrats!
  12. Viv...I am scheduled for a colonoscopy on the 16th. I find it hard to believe that a doc would want to do an unfill just for the prep for this procedure. There's no way I would mess with perfection, if that's where you feel you are with your restriction. My prep entails taking 3 small dulcolax tablets 24 hours prior, drinking 32 oz of Fluid mixed with Miralax throughout the day prior and 2 small dulcolax the morning of the procedure. I don't see a problem with being banded and the prep that is expected.
  13. Rstoun...you will learn waaaaaaaay more on LBT than you will from your doc and his staff (at least that is was I have gotten from many posts on this site). There's so much info to take in and learn from the experience of others. Hope you stick around for the pure benefit of picking up tips and to share your experience also. Hope this unfill puts you on the right tract and you can start to eat more healthy foods and see the benefit from that. Good luck!
  14. I've been at goal for 2 yrs and I find myself in the pre-op and post-op threads every single day. When a thread is titled "Help!!!!", I'm goin' in!
  15. Erica...click on my "Apples2" user name. A page will come up and click "contact info". Click on "send email". Looking forward to talking with you.
  16. I would be happy to be a pal and help you along the way. I have been banded for over 2 yrs and doing well. Just fire away with questions. If you would rather personal message me or email me, that would be fine too. Wishing you luck and feel free to contact me anytime.:wink2:
  17. Sounds to me like you might be too tight or just need to give your fill time to settle in. Try to do mushies or Protein drinks for a couple of days and if then you try hard proteins/veggies and you are throwing up, get ahold of your fill doc and make and appt for an unfill. It's NOT normal to be throwing up and can cause long term damage to your esophogas and band. As far as the slider foods go, if they are a temptation for you, get them out of your house...good luck
  18. Hey Katie...welcome...what date were you banded and what food stage are you in? It does take work to get off the weight. But, with the help of the band, it makes it doable. Follow your doctor's instructions as far as what foods to eat, get your fills when you feel the need and get into some kind of exercise program. LapBandTalk is a great place for support and information. Good luck!
  19. Kab....during the weightloss stage I drank this drink a few times a day. It really did stave off hunger and helped with the chocolate cravings. I also found a hot drink product that I love. Alpine sugar free cider...just mixed with hot water. 15 cals. For me, hot drinks got me through some tough hunger spots.
  20. Arittel...take good care of yourself. Don't push the limits and take time to heal. You don't want to repeat your incident. Feed your band as if were your baby. Take care.
  21. I like either the Nestles or Swiss Miss...they are about 20-25 cals per packet. I actually carry them in my car for when I stop for coffee, I just mix a packet in and add some sugar free Caramel or Hazelnut syrup. The Nestles actually comes in a canister that I use while at home. 2 Tbls = 25 cals. I will also mix in my Benefiber
  22. Arittel...so glad you filled us in on the outcome of your night from hell. Happy to hear that they figured out the problem. I had something similar two months after LB surgery. Had a number of hernias repaired about 60 days after LB and my sternum got bruised from putting mesh in. Not comfortable. Hope you are on the road to comfort soon.
  23. Trish...what a great feeling, huh??? Even though you were feeling crappy you still got your butt in gear. Way to go!
  24. Arittel....just checking to see how you are doing....hope all is well.
  25. Here's a few places to look. Just go to their sites and type in 100% cotton jeans in their search. LL Bean Lucky Brand Amazon Trade Tang Trade Key Good luck!
