  1. Actually, it was the only apple I could find. It represents my physique...I am apple shaped!
  2. Would love to, Kerry. I am very emotional this week about taking this step. I have taken a lot of time to prepare and feel as if I am ready. All these emotions are bound to happen. I am sure that all this will even out. I wish you luck and stay in touch!
  3. Peter, so sorry to hear of your wife's passing. Thank you for taking the time to inform us of her symptoms. So often I read posts from people that delay going to their dr. because they feel they might not be serious enough symptoms. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
  4. Good luck, you guys. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and on Wed.
  5. I would have lost everything I had eaten. That is just gross. Find the South Beach company website and see if they have a way to contact them. I would download the photo and send it with an explanation of what you found in your dinner. I makes me wonder about what other crap is in our processed foods!
  6. Kat...leaving in the morning for a mini vacation and just wanted to wish you luck on Tuesday. I will be thinking of you. Wishing you a quick recovery. Take care of yourself. Also, congrats on the grandbaby. Hugs!
  7. JBFlorida...happy to hear that your fears have settled some. After I got my ins. approval last Thursday, I went into panic mode. By Monday it was worse. I woke up this morning and decided just to let all the fear, anxiety and anticipation go. I now feel as if I am fully prepared for this surgery. I think I was just letting the "what if's" rule. I have always been a person to accept what comes my way and that is the way I am going to treat this situation. Never thought of naming my band once I get it. Will have to think on that. Good health to you!
  8. OMG how cute!!!!!!!! Kids can say things we only wish we could say. Could I borrow that little sweetie for a trip to my MIL????????????
  9. Christy, I'm not banded yet either but I already worry about some of those social situations the few months after my surgery on June 17. We have a few weddings, a couple of BBQ's and numerous potlucks at our summer resort. I have told some closer friends of my soon-to-be banding but feel that I will need to make excuses to others that don't know. Where there's a will, there's a way (or a little white lie). Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I wish you well

Flipflops...sending hugs your way. I admire you for what you are doing and have done for your parents. Everyone should have a family member like you to rely on when times get tough. Sounds like you don't have a lot of time for yourself. All of this may not seem rewarding at this time but when you look back on what you have done and how much you have helped you mom, you should pat yourself on the back. Hang in there, kiddo.
  11. That's so cute, Pix. Kids keep things so real. My sons are 27 and 25 and they still protect their momma. Hang in there and keep making good food choices.
  12. The first place I noticed my weight coming off was my face, shoulders and boobs. I am shaped like an apple (my name fits my shape). Have always had skinny, shapely long legs so I would have to say they are my favorite body part. Least favorite is waistline and back. It's the shape God gave me so I dress to cover my problem spot and accentuate my legs.
  13. Our surgeon brought the PS subject up in our lap band informational seminar. He stated that we should not even consider it for one year after goal. I know that I will want PS. I have lost 50lbs with 50lbs to go. My lower stomach is already hanging more than it did and I am having trouble with rashes even though I shower 2x daily. Guess I should start documenting that with my reg. dr.
  14. Congratulations to you also. Such a relief to finally be approved, isn''t it? Sounds like you started the process about the same time that I did. I got my surgery date today. June 17. I am soooooo ready!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Thanks, CathyChatts for putting me in with the Junes group. Nice to be able to visit with people in the same boat. Support from others means so much
  16. Thanks, Susan. Been feeling like I've been hanging on the edge the last few months. So happy just to get the approval and get on with this. Thanks for the encouragement.
  17. Cathychatts...please add me in for June 17. Thanks!
  18. Pix...I think she was talking to Jaylow who had posted earlier saying that she had gained after surgery. Happy to hear you are on the mend. I got my date today. June 17. Cannot wait to get on the road. Hope your recovery is not giving you too much trouble.
  19. Just thought I would let my fifties know that I am scheduled for surgery. I have a date of June 17. I was approved by BCBS on May 8. I feel as if a weight has been lifted. I was able to lose 50lbs during my six mo. diet and hoping that I can continue to lose. I do have at least 50lbs more to lose. I just want to get this show on the road and get used to being banded. I am afraid of how the band will adjust to my body. Other than that, I do not worry about the surgery. I just want my band to fit in and live in me without complications. I have not participated on the fifties site a lot but I do appreciate the support I have received from you guys.
  20. All I know is that my plan required the six month medically supervised weight loss program. I would give your provider a call and just ask what they require. I was a little upset to know that I had to wait that long but now am so happy that I had those months to prepare myself. I cut out anything unhealthy and tried my best to eat like a banded person during that period of time.
  21. Sorry to hear of your complications, BBK. Take care and hope things turn around for you soon.
  22. Congrats to all of you who just got approval and hope you all have an easy time adjusting. I worried so much about it cuz I was just barely at 40BMI. It only took 3-4 days for BCBS to approve. I feel like a weight has been lifted. I just put a request into my surgeon's office to have surgery the end of June. As soon as I find out the date, I can line up my preop visit with surgeon, preop exam with my regular doc and a visit with Anesthesia. My surgeon also requires a 10 day preop diet. 1 Protein shake per day and Clear liquids. I'm excited but also scared about the HUGE life change. I took off weight during my six month diet so I am thinking that the adjustments that I have made over that time period will help me adapt to lapband life.
  23. I have a $2,000 deductible with a small co-pay. Started this process on Oct. 2 with seminar and had to do the 6 month supervised diet. I am glad I have had the time to process all of this but now am ready to get things rolling:rolleyes2::biggrin:
  24. Hey guys. Just got my approval letter from BCBS. Thinking of scheduling my surgery end of June or mid-July. Cannot wait to get this show on the road! Thanks to everyone for the support and a thanks in advance for future support. I am sure to have questions from time to time.
  25. Awwwww, what a nice mamma! I have two children and I would do ANYTHING for them b/4 myself. Just give it all a few weeks and a few talks with your mamma and then make your decision. Good luck
