Need Some Extra Support
yes in some cases you have to have bands removed but its not common. but things will go great for you. Remember theres a risk for any type of surgery just think positive and you will do great. i was banded 12/12/07 and i feel great. so chin up youll be fine. the results of getting the band outweigh the results of the risks that come with the band. gl i hope things go well for you!

There will always be the what ifs in life but if we worried about the what ifs we would never do nothing to better ourselves. i dont think your marriage will go down the crapper.per sat. there might be objections on your husbands side. i know mine always expressed fear that if i get this done and lose the weight i will go for something better. and i always assured him im not doing this for that reason im doing it for my health and just because i lost the weight doesnt mean thats gonna change my feelings for you. thats what i always told him. as far as pain. you will have maybe 2 days of really irritating soreness. but it will subside. i went and finished my christmas shopping the day after i got home.lol. Things will work out just fine.

Got SSSOOO Many questions before calling a Doc!!!!!
never believe your insurance company cause the minute they say you dont need something they deny you cause you didnt do this. trust me i went a 8 months before i even got my approval cause they denied me cause i didnt do something. heres what i did. 1. consulted family physician . we listed all the diets and medications even over the counter diet aides i used. he then made a referral for me for the surgeon i wanted to use. and have him write a letter of recommendation for you so you can give it to your surgeon. so when they submit it to the insurance it is a better help to get approved. 2. go to the surgeon consult. youll go thier for 6 months of weigh ins. 3. youll have to see a dietitian,a nutritionist, youll be put on a 1200 cal diet to see and prove to the insurance co that dieting dont work. 4. youll have several blood work ups 5.you see a pulmonologist and take chest xrays and a breathing test. 6.psych consult. 7.2 day sleep apnea testing. 8. and whatever else your doctor will make you do everyone is different on what needs done before your info will be submitted to the insurance company. I was approved 8 months after i initially started everything to get approved. some insurance companies may have you go to a seminar about the lapband system. mine didnt. the way i worked i woulda never made it. but in the end its worth it i was banded 12/12/07 and i love it. you will too its only been 9 days and i feel better and im energetic. and ive lost 29 pounds and i breathe better. cause i have sleep apnea due to my weight. and can actually sleep at night now. and its only been 9 days. i know most of my weight off now is just Water weight. but weight is weight . hope things go well for you.

Why no bread??
the reason they say no bread is because even though you can chew it up and it might pass thru. bread expands in the stomach and sometimes if you dont chew it enough it could get stuck in your stoma. they say no doey breads. but toast and crackers might be ok i have read where some eat toast and crackers.
-
Is it just deliberate starvation???
the difference between the doing it with out the lapband and with the lap band the way i see it, Is this. its not that your starving yourself with or with out the band. with out the band you might diet the way you do with the band but, you dont get the satiety or fullness like you do with the band . with the band although you eat less at a setting your still getting the nutrition you need with out starving but the satiety or fullness is thier alot quicker. In my case before i had the band i did the dieting but i never ever felt full so even thought i was eating 3 meals a day i was snacking in between to get the full ness. with the band and i know i just got it 9 days ago and im still on the 10-14 days liquid phase i feel the fullness and i know when to stop drinking my drinks i mean i drink water through out the day but my protien shakes. i know when i have to stop for awhile. and i cant even finish a whole popsicle. its hard to understand until you get the band your self. so if you do gl. things will change for you in a good way. and youll understand where i am coming from. i hoped i helped.

Tomorrow is Band Day
gl in your upcoming surgery. It is ok to be anxious , but dont worry everyone is different when it comes to pain and so forth. i was banded on the 12th of december. i had soreness more irritating than painful as far as the gas part from the anestetia. wasnt to bad except i had my left arm was very achy. drove me nuts. but it will be all worth it. and some people dont tell very many people about what thier doing when it comes to this kinda surgery. I on the other hand told everyone i was excited to do something to make myself in better health. but like i said everyone is different. gl with your surgery your gonna love it.

I'm a newbie and need some info...
well you wont go alot with just liquids. its ok to feel that your not hungry just introduce your foods slowly if you able to get mash pototoes down with no problems you should be fine with other mushie foods. just make sure you are still drinkin your protien shakes until you feel your ready to eat foods. if you dont feel hungry later on down the road i would call your doctor. pb i think is puking it back up i am not sure im a little new here lol

Which Protein Drink?
actually they say not to drink boost and ensure may have high protiens but has to much sugar and fat unless they are sugar and fat free boost and ensure. those kinds of drinks are more for people who are elderly and dont get adequate food intake or people with a tube feeding. try carnation sugar free instant breakfast its cheaper and what my doctor referred me to have.

Surgeon Seeking Feedback
What do you love about your band surgeon and their practice? i loved my surgeon she did a very good job but some of her office people could do better with organization. lol What do you hate? i hate that its so hard to lose weight. I never thought i would have to go to this extreme What do we do well? well my surgeon was very professional kind and up front about everything unlike some of her office workers. What could we do better? the only thing is to be more informative in the post op. What more could we do to help you succeed?. nothing you can only tell us what we need to do and its up to us to listen How could we improve your customer experience with our practices? dont hire to young of an medical assisstant cause then people who come in to you as a patient have to deal with sometimes a age-related attitude. Thank you in advance for the feedback. hope i helped. I was not a patient of yours persay but its nice to answer things i can relate to lol brad<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Newbie from Kansas
hello thin dolphin, I can totally understand what you have gone thru your entire life. that pretty much sums me up in a nutshell the reason i went with lapband VS gastic bypass is because its less invasive and less revovery time compared to bypass and i didnt feel like them hackin me to peices and stapling me up and so forth and them in for some reason that comes undone then your stomach is open and infection happens and possibly death with the band its just a band wrapped around you . and its reversible. though you may not get fast weight loss as you do with the bypass, but thats the way its designed to be and reason being is so your skin can re adjust to the new body so you may not have much excess skin after weightloss but everyone is different. but what ever choice you make you will do great. i was banded 12/12/07 and i feel great and im only 8 days post op and i feel way different.

My sister is a @#$%@
I completely understand your frustrations. But maybe instead of getting yourself worked up over this. Take a breath and think to yourself do they really know about the lapbanding system that you have embraced yourself upon. Re educate your family. about the system and how it works. maybe they are doing it to annoy you but maybe they dont understand the steps you have to take before you re introduce your self to regular foods again.
