Don't Waste Your Money!
i agree with roberta and the others too . This just looks like a case of im not eating the way i should exercising and so forth and im not losing cause i dont put forth the effort and so lets blame it on something so let it be the thyroid. My friend has problems with her thyroid and she gets extensive blood work done every year so they know if her meds are right or need adjusted and they have all recommended the lapband over the bypass. so i think you little post is just a big pile of bs!

how do you handle
i know this past sunday i went to a get together with friends and they had sooooooo much food i just took a tables spoon of each of what they had and it filled me up so just when you go just think protien first veggies second carbs last , i know i had a lil bit of ham steamed veggies they had a chicken dip i had a little of that and they had taco dip and i had little of that and i was full i dont even think it amounted to a cup of what i had but it was good. i think they called me the test taster of the night. but it worked. it wsa all good and i didnt go hay wire of gimmie more more more lol. its just a trial of thinking about what your gonna eat and not knowing if its ok. just remember portion your meals as directed by your doctor.

How to handle eating out?
i agree just look at the menus and there is some thing on there that should be light enough for you to eat. ask about thier soups. i know i went to chilis and i had a cup of chicken tortilla soup i couldnt even eat the whole cup.lol or on days like that order a chicken breast with a side of steamed veggies and eat what you can and take the rest home. i always plan my daily meals if i go out cause i watch to not go over 900-1000 calories a day. and i try not to go over 30 g a fat a day. plus you can always look on line at menus like mentioned above. im sure some of the stuff you find on those menus the restaurant your goin to might have something similar to that on there.

Little confused
insurance is very confusing. just do what it says to pay if it says 250 then thats all you have to pay. right onnnnnnnn thats not bad. but if you want to make sure then just ask the people who deal with insurance at the doctors office they will tell you how much your responsible for.

Did you lose weight before your first fill?
i lost 24 pounds from surgery til my first fill on january 7th 2007 then i lost another 8 pounds after that day til now so im happy right now.
-
i still eat a little to fast
have any of you had a fill yet? cause with fills yes you feel more restricted in the morning and afternoon but when it comes to night time you do have less restriction so maybe after another fill you have more restriction and feel full quicker. try taking a bite set the spoon or fork down chew chew chew chew swallow then pick up the spoon or fork again. this might help slow you down and get you full faster.

I am SO ANGRY!!!
im not sure maybe its not that anyone sold your information sometimes when companies go to drs offices they leave pamphlets for bypass and banding patients and then the doctors office just sends them out to there bypass and banding patients to give you the information that you can look at i know i get infomation on stuff like that all the time and its either because of a medication im on and there is a better medication than the one im taking thats new that maybe i would like to try i dont think it has to do with anything that the drs office sold your info and if they did its not legal so talk to your doctor about it.

Is it really worth it?????
i have had my band only a month and i lost 32 pounds already. and i love it i dont regret it one bit. If you think about it all surgeries have risks. but this surgery compared to bypass is a breeze its less invasive. less to no death risks. yes there have been complications associated with this surgery but you have them with every surgery. and its reversible if there are complications compared to the by pass. you can do it and it will be well worth it. road to health is on its way for you. jump on up the band wagon express is here!!!

phsyc evaulation
my psych evaluation was the same way. i just went in real perky and in a good mood and answered there questions. they tried to get things outta me about my family history. yeah right i dont kiss and tell. just tell them things that you understand this surgery isnt a quick fix but your doing for your health. that you have a great family life and so on and so on. tell them what you have to cause if they dont approve your eval you can possibly not get your surgery

Biggest Fear? Death & Other Questions
i was in the same boat as you with all the same concerns as well. the thing with lap banding is that it has low death risks im not sure of the numbers. It is reversible if wanted or needed. compared to gastric bypass very hard to reverse. and the weight loss is almost the same as gastric bypass but it tends to be slower so your skin has time to reform to the body as with the bypass you lose weight faster and your skin dont have time to reform to your new body. surgery is done within 2 hours. i know i went in at 930 am and was out at 1130 am. pain is not as bad as the bypass my friend had the bypass and the pain she said sucked big time. when i had my band put in this past december when i left the hospital the next day i went shopping lol. I have lost 32 pounds already and i love it. i dont regret nothing. i would do it all over again if need be. youll love it. good luck in your journey!!

The easy way out...
i agree so many people think that this is the easy way out but then i think they have never walked in my shoes they dont know what its like to have tried the dieting and have it fail. most of those ones are skinny people who have never had a weight problem. and 2 the ones who are heavy well if they are so self rightgeous then why arent they doing something to lose the weight they have extra on themselves! at least you tried the dieting and it didnt work so what you got the band as a tool to help you lose and keep the weight off at least your doing something to better your health. And ill tell you what i had natural child birth i didnt have trouble but if it wasnt for the fact that a slip of that big needle in the back could possibly damage me i woulda loved to have had an epidural. just tell them people to go ***** themselves! sorry people like that irritate me:o

I broke my scale....
i understand all of you completely i had my surgery 12-12-07 so a week after my surgery i went and bought a scale. so i was wieghing myself weekly and i was dropping weight like nothing i was 2 1/2 weeks in and i was down 44 pounds then i weighed myself last week and i was down 55 pounds i was like woooooohooooooooooooo then i weighed myself again it it showed me at 190 and i was like yea that aint right. evil thing so i went to doctors it gave me the accurate weight at 24 pound weight loss and i was disappointed i thought i had at lease lost more. and dr was like what do ya want 24 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks is excellent. then i went to weight myself again and i was down another 8 pounds wooooooooohoooooooooooooo im so excited now getting back on track. the evil scale was thrown outta the house now i need to find a good accurate scale. lol:whoo:

Hi, I am new here and just banded :)
its normal to feel no hunger in the beginning about 3/4 way through your liquid phase you slowly start feeling hunger and by then youll be on mushies and it will ease up. and its normal to not have to go to the bathroom as much because your not getting much food in your only taking in liquids at this time so youll pee more. but youll do great!! have fun with the band!! name your friend for life. the weight will come off in no time. like the other person said dont focus on weight loss focus on the healing process. unlike me i was focused on pain and healing i was more worried about losing my weight. and i was doin so good (so i though) come to find out my evil scale was broken and giving me wrong weights :faint: so i went to drs on monday and found out my real weight and i was down 24 pounds since surgery on 12 -12 -07 i went back today just to use the scale and i was down another 8 pounds. So dont worry things will go great!!! congrats on the band.:whoo:

Tiny Expensive Crab pack
lamb is very good to eat but unless you live were all the rich people do its hard to find around here. Now seafood mmmmmmmmmm the best way to eat seafood is to steam it and add old bay seasoning with a little bit of butter or even use the pam spray. The old bay seasoning takes the fishy taste away from lobster crab clams oysters calamari and so much more. yum yum!:whoo:
