  1. Congrats! Glad things are moving right along for you! Surgery day will be here before you know it. Learn as much as you can so you are prepared and follow your plan! Regardless of the differences you see here, your plan will work!! Good luck!
  2. Sooo...17 pounds in one month. Sounds amazing to me. At 17 pounds a month you would lose to goal weight in less than a year. Why so sad?
  3. lol...pizza but...kinda a slip as to where it goes
  4. For some the markers for HBP are not resolved by weight loss. For some the weight definitely makes a difference. Day of surgery I was removed from both blood sugar meds and never went back to them. At 4 months out I was removed from my cholesterol med as I am now well into normal range. Now, for the HBP. I noticed at about 30 pounds lost that I felt dizzy when standing up or bending over, my dose was reduced. Then I felt that again here recently so my dose was reduced again...a bit more and I think I will be fortunate to be off them. Stay in communication with your PCP and check your own BP at home. Keep a log and send/show it to your PCP at your visits. Your pressure's will change as you lose and they will need to monitor them. Good luck!
  5. I don't miss much. I thought I would miss taking Motrin but I honestly have not had a single headache since surgery which amazes me. I thought I would miss Pasta, potatoes and rice but I get so full from my Protein and non-starchy veggie that I don't even really think about it. It is funny that before surgery the lifestyle we live seems like we will miss so many of those bad habits that got us to where we are, but in the end it is not really an issue. Life is so much better and I have so much more energy so far that I am forging a better relationship with food. Hopefully that new relationship will serve me well going forward and get me to goal.
  6. "Although the number of fat cells in your body cannot be reduced, it is possible to make them smaller. When you lose weight, the size of your fat cells will shrink, leaving you with a leaner, slimmer physique. Although it's true that trimming fat is all about burning more calories than you consume, specific nutrients, notably Protein, can help speed up the process."
  7. Some weeks you may lose more, some less. 4.3 pounds per week is great! You are right where you should be. Don't compare yourself to others just keep your eyes on the goal. Everyone is so different. Follow your plan and success is attainable, just on your body's schedule! Good luck!!
  8. Once all the info is turned in to insurance it typically goes pretty fast. Make sure and double check that everything is done and make sure your surgeon's office gets it all turned in ASAP and then become the squeaky wheel to the pre-cert department of your insurance company. Good luck!
  9. Congrats!! I know you are very excited, I still remember the call from my surgeon's office. Wishing you a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery! Get those before photos and measurements done!
  10. Welcome! What surgery are you having? I am 4 months post-op sleeve myself.
  11. The weight loss does seem to fluctuate and just because it is 2 pounds now doesn't mean it won't be different some weeks. Yeah maybe you could have lost 2 pounds a week at Weight Watchers but did you? Hang in there and the weight loss will come. Have faith in your plan and keep on going! You've got this!
  12. I also do a Protein shake daily for breakfast. It is a convenience factor for me and I drink them on the way to work. My team if supportive of that. Of course the preference is that you get the bulk of your protein from food but the protein shake is fine long term. There are those in my support group that still do them years out.
  13. When people are negative with regard to any aspect I often wonder what is it in their own life that compels them to tell others what to do. She is probably not in a good place herself or maybe jealous of you. Maybe she is scared she will no longer be the skinny friend. Regardless, this is more about her than it is about you. Surround yourself with positive people and with those who treat you as you deserve to be treated. I would respond to her that she has no idea of the struggles in your life and that she cannot possibly predict the future for you with this surgery. She can either come along for an amazing journey with her friend or be left behind. If she cannot be supportive then she isn't your friend. I also would say let her go and move on with your life. The best revenge is happiness!
  14. You can have Fluid retention from day to day. I don't know how often you weigh but it can fluctuate greatly from day to day. I weigh every day but try to see where the trend is going. Hang in there, this is very common and if you follow your plan the weight loss WILL happen! You can do this!
  15. I read a lot of people have those "food funerals". I didn't do it before my surgery but if you will feel better then do what you need to. I have found that I don't even want those things after surgery so I really, honestly don't miss them. It isn't that you can't have everything you did before but most of the time healthy Protein first means you get full and won't be able to. Since I am losing weight I am okay with that! Good luck to you and enjoy your restaurant hopping!!
  16. I haven't fainted but I have had a few dizzy moments. My blood pressure is coming down with the weight loss and my PCP is playing catch up with what dose to take as I lose. It typically happens when I bend over or when I have been sitting and stand. Hoping your labs are great but help as to what is happening!
  17. I hope your surgeon helps with your situation. I agree I would want to do it before you gain a lot back and feel like you have to start over. Good luck and keep us posted!
  18. Congrats! Keep up the effort you are doing an amazing job!
  19. Every step I take toward goal. Every time I need new smaller clothes. Every new victory spurs me forward...
  20. It doesn't matter what others think, it is what works for you that matters. I weigh almost every day but then I don't let the scale drive me crazy, it is just what I do before my shower when I get up. I will say there will be times when the inches are coming off but the scale doesn't move. I would suggest taking your measurements pre-op and maybe once a month to track progress. I am so glad I took my measurements cos even when stalled I lose inches. Good luck!!
  21. That is up to you. Do you want to cook so many different options? I would put a healthy meal on the table and sit to eat. If someone wants something else, they know where the kitchen is. It is inconsiderate to expect you to do more work than necessary. It is never a bad idea for everyone to eat healthy. Good luck and always feel free to rant!
  22. In a one word response...YES! lol As I prepared for surgery it seemed as though my life revolved around the process. At 4 months post-op I have settled into a routine. I still visit here and read and respond to posts and I attend my monthly support group meeting but my life is settling into the new normal. As time passes you will most likely settle into a routine and life will carry on.
  23. I was scheduled within two weeks once insurance approved. I had to do a two week pre-op diet or it probably would have been sooner.
  24. I love breakfast foods but hate making the extra effort to cook really early before work. I have a Protein shake that I make with Protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, Folgers coffee drops and ice. Just like Starbucks and I drink it on the way to work. On the weekends I usually have a one egg omelette with veggies inside or a scrambled egg with a sausage link. You can change up the veggies and spices for different flavors. You could use turkey bacon or turkey sausage.
