  1. 8 hours...arrived 5:30 am and home at 1:26 pm same day
  2. The headache will definitely go away. You are detoxing from a few things not just soda. This too shall pass...hang in there! God luck!!!
  3. A side note...sometimes I am really not hungry, just thirsty. Also it depends on the Protein I am eating, dense protein fills me up and sticks with me longer. Some days I feel like I want to eat more and some not at all. I would imagine this will be a fluctuation that will happen always going forward. Still learning every day!
  4. I haven't done therapy but did journal pre- and post-op. I identified my triggers for eating and put plans in place to stop them. For me, I am a stress eater and a bored eater. I have learned to identify my triggers and find other things to do or drink Water. Lots of folks have posted their eating problems are much deeper. For those, therapy is in order. Therapy would also be in order if you cannot control your eating on your own. It takes work not just identifying the problems but putting solutions in place and sticking to them. Good luck!
  5. Congrats to you on your success! What a great celebration idea! Keep up the great work!
  6. I also stopped pain meds on day 3 and drove on day 5. I was fine but tired out pretty fast.
  7. It definitely gets better. This is not what it is like, this is because you just had surgery. Hang in there! Focus on hydration then Protein. It got better every day as I healed but I probably felt pretty good and able to get fluids in pretty well at one week. Get rest and recuperate. They are not kidding when they say sip, sip, sip!
  8. Congrats! Welcome!! Get ready cos here it comes! lol Read, read, read! Good luck!!!
  9. It varies from person to person but I would say this. At this point you are still healing and if you are waiting for the sensation of being full or pain it may not happen. You need to measure your foods to keep control over your portions. Everyone is different but when I switched to soft foods I could not eat a whole scrambled egg alone much less with added cheese. Follow your plan and the volume of food it says. Good luck!!
  10. In addition, when your honeymoon period is over, if you haven't developed better eating habits you are going to gain it all back. Get cracking!!
  11. WooHoo! More of that please!
  12. I know you are so excited!! Congrats on such an amazing decision!! Good luck to you!!
  13. It is normal to be emotional, you have a lot going on. You are planning for a big surgery and a major change to your life. The relationship you have with food is about to change forever. That is a lot to process and can be overwhelming. Just take one day at a time and breathe. The other side is so wonderful that you will look back after surgery and be amazed. Good luck to you all and wishing you smooth surgeries and rapid recoveries!!!
  14. You are right, you must have one documented attempt to lose weight within the last 6 months. You are not required by insurance to be on a supervised diet plan. Your surgeon's office may have different requirements than your insurance though, so check that out.
  15. It is amazing how everyone has an opinion and how they go one step further and feel they have the right to judge or tell you what to do. You are doing this for yourself and not others. Yes yu will get more years with your wife but first and foremost it is for YOU. You don't owe anyone an explanation. It is your choice who to share with and who not to share with. This is your journey and your's alone, leave out those who will not enhance it. Build a support group of those you trust and Celebrate your success. I have told none of my family, only my husband and his oldest son (14). I told 3 friends and haven't heard from them since. Their loss not mine. That says more about them and not me. Good luck!!
  16. Write that mantra on your bathroom mirror so you see it every day...you can do this! Good luck!!!
  17. Congratulations on making a huge step in becoming healthy. Yes you will show them soon! You will be amazed at how much better you feel every day as the weight comes off. I agree, parents do't teach any manners to their children these days, that seems to be universal. Of course sometimes the parents are just as rude so go figure. Please do keep us posted on your progress and good luck with your surgery! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  18. Congrats! Doesn't that feel great to let go of a piece of your closet and know that they were too big? Way to go!! I know you feel great so far!
  19. Good for you! Letting go of the old life and embracing the new! I also got rid of all my clothes that were current and too big. I am committed to this and never going back. If I wear clothes that flatter and fit I also can see the progress I am making. Others notice as well when the clothes actually fit. Good for you!!
  20. I see some on here post about the food binges they go on saying goodbye to foods they won't ever have again. I guess my question would be why would you want to have those foods? At this point you have made a decision to get healthy. Those foods have made you very unhealthy. For me, after surgery, I don't even want those foods. Before surgery I made my mind up that those foods were not good for my health and I always felt miserable after eating them. I felt bloated and sick, overfull and like a slug. My weight climbed as high as 350 pounds and that was definitely unattractive. My clothes didn't fit and I had difficulty finding ones that did. Take this time instead to begin eating healthy and committing to this new lifestyle. Find things that are fresh, taste good and fulfill yourself in other ways other than food. Start a journal about your feelings and figure out why food filled that space. Just my two cents, I am definitely not a veteran yet and I have a way to go to get to my goal. I just figured the more I ost before surgery, the closer I was to my goal after surgery. Good luck to you whatever you decide!
  21. The only bad things about cravings is that they could possibly cause you to crave more. You have done so awesome!! Why go back at this point?
  22. Sounds like you are doing great. Agree with everything you are doing so far. You can also research things to eat at each of your plan's stages (soft foods etc). Find tasty ways to get through it. If you haven't already, find a Protein shake flavor or two that you like. Get an inexpensive food scale so you can measure after surgery. 2 months will go by before you know it! Good luck!
