  1. Sip, sip, sip. Drinking is the hardest part after the procedure. I thought something was horribly wrong because I couldn't drink much right after. Do ice chips, Water even sf popsicles to get Fluid in. In time your intake will be much easier. I can swallow larger amounts at a time now. I had seasonal allergy issues at surgery and went in with a cough. I held that pillow to me and it really did help but it was still not great. It will pass also and you will be okay! Good luck!!
  2. Way to go @@fit4me0716! Good luck with your procedure! I didn't have any of the nausea or gas pains I had read about prior to surgery. Follow whatever pre-op plan you have, I really think that makes a difference! Will be thinking of you and saving you a spot on the bench!
  3. Yep, agreed, I would ask. I would be very careful with anything compression related. Better safe than sorry?
  4. The part of your stomach that is removed with the sleeve is the part of your stomach that causes hunger pains. Most likely you are experiencing head hunger, Going off plan is a slippery slope and behavior that got us into trouble in the first place. Make sure you are getting your fluids and eating per your plan so you don't have those feelings. This being said, everyone's journey is their own and it is up to you ultimately what you do...good luck!!!
  5. Welcome and congrats! Hang in there!
  6. Hi and welcome!! I was sleeved May 15 of 2015, so I am 3-1/2 weeks out. Your date is coming up very soon!! Good luck and hold on for the ride!
  7. Sleeved on May 15, 2015...took one week off with memorial day and weekends for a total of 11 days. I felt tired but was ready to go back after 7 days. I do have a desk job so also depends on your type of work. Good luck!!
  8. How awesome! I know your grandkids cannot wait to have you being more active! Great job so far and welcome!
  9. A lot of hospitals do meetings...check your area. I go to Johns Creek Hospital monthly.
  10. Yes acid can definitely make you feel nauseated. My surgeon had me take Prilosec for 14 days after surgery then I was free to stop. Try it to see if it helps. Also make sure you are not drinking while eating and eating slow...both those things can cause nausea if you are not following the plan.
  11. Aloe for the burn and Tylenol for the pain. Hope you feel better soon!
  12. Already sleeved and 3 weeks post-op but good luck on your journey!
  13. I had reflux before surgery and just took Zegrid as needed. After being sleeved the surgeon had me take Prilosec for 14 days. Have not had a single episode since. I am 3weeks post op.
  14. We all tend to lose differently and for me the waist tends to be the last to go. It will happen! I would suggest taking your measurements every so often to see the inches where the scale may not reflect changes. I do mine about every 3 weeks.
  15. No specific info on any of those but do your research on all. Ask tons of questions. Make sure you like the surgeon because you have to trust them. Good luck!!
  16. I am not having that issue. Are you taking any kind of antacid like Prilosec or another? What happens when you try to eat other things?
  17. It sounds like maybe you are a bit depressed. It's a lot to take on with caring for your husband who is ill. Maybe you could talk to a therapist? I am so sorry for your situation and your feelings. I don't think it is true apathy with food nut a manifestation of your depression or stress. Hang in there and seriously talk to someone. Good luck!
  18. I haven't bought any of the unflavored because I am not having any issues with my Protein intake. I use one Protein shake a day and it has 30g in it. With the fish, chicken and turkey I eat I get enough in my day. I also use greek yogurt as my snack when I want to have one and I manage to get 60-80 g a day.
  19. Honestly I have always worn shapewear to feel better, but I did buy some smaller sized stuff today!!
  20. I can eat 1/2 cup and I am full. Its a bit more if its soup but dense foods are 1/2 cup only.
  21. I didn't have a pulling sensation but I did have difficulty lying down. I used a pillow to shift me to one side for a bit. Sorry you re having discomfort!
  22. I don't think you are alone at all. I think we all have hopes but we also remember the failed attempts that came before. We have to have some faith in the plan put before us and be patient. The weight did not come overnight nor will it go overnight. The surgery is a tool along with changed eating habits for life and exercise. The after pics are great motivation but all our journeys are different and its all about what you put into it. The folks who share there success stories did not get there overnight and without effort also. Good luck!
  23. My nutritionist said between 60-80 for me. I think it may be a bit based on the nutritionist but also our starting weight. Protein makes you feel fuller for longer so there must be a goal in their mind. My husband who is at the correct weight asked my nutritionist for him and she said he needed 100g of protein.
  24. I took prilosec for the first 14 days and never had acid problems. I also relied heavily on sf popsicles for Fluid for quite a few days. I couldn't drink cold at first but that went away. Hang in there and communicate with your surgeon's office. They have seen probably anything that can happen and can help you as needed. Good luck and feel better soon!!
  25. If you have been overweight for some time the extra weight may have affected your posture. A general consult with a good chiropractor can't hurt. They should take initial xrays and discuss with you anything they see. Use your judgement if you think they have validity and can help. Also look to see if your posture has improved so far or if it is staying the same. Hope that helps! Good luck and congrats on the loss so far!
