  1. Congrats for getting approved and also for hanging in there and not giving up!
  2. Every nutritionist is so different. I eat between 700-800 calories and a minimum of 60g Protein. I am 8 weeks tomorrow.
  3. Way to go!! I have sat at tables so long I forget how nice booths can be. My belly also doesn't touch my steering wheel anymore!
  4. Agree with @@Serendipity517, the complication rate is very low. If you are serious about losing and realize that the surgery is just a tool and that you will also have to eat differently and exercise then you will do great. Ask plenty of questions of your team so that you are comfortable with the process and what to expect. Know what the eating plan is for after surgery and what support you will have. Knowledge is power! Nothing wrong with being a little nervous, it IS surgery and nothing wrong with having a healthy respect for that. Good luck and keep us posted!!
  5. This is the one my nutritionist recommended but I didn't get it because there are too many free recipes out there on the internet. http://www.amazon.com/dp/1592334962/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2QDXMEC1OCKO&coliid=I3FEPX1PO5X1ED
  6. Already sleeved here but yes it is amazing how much our lives revolved around food before. You will do amazing so hang in there! Good luck!
  7. Welcome and congrats!! Keep us posted on your progress! Take your before pics and hold on!! Good luck!
  8. @@VSGAnn2014, I know right? Those days are long gone lol
  9. My pre-op diet was sf applesauce, sf Jello, broth, 8 ounces Gatorade, one Protein shake, light yogurt and all the Water I wanted. I took in about 60 calories a day or less. You should lose on that as I am sure like the rest of us the amount of calories prior was probably pretty high. Good luck and good for you for starting now. You are right, the weight you lose now will put you that much closer to your goal!
  10. On my soft food diet I could have instant ones thinned out. Try that if you are allowed.
  11. You will be able to do that again soon. At first I could only sip and take in small amounts but at 8 weeks post now I can chug it like I used to. Hang in there!
  12. Hang in there it will happen when it is supposed to. Good for you for getting out there and walking even though it is difficult. The more you do now the better you will do later. I know it is frustrating but every day you will get better and go further. The more you lose the more you can do. Good luck and feel free to vent and get it off you chest! We are here!
  13. OMG, just thinking about the things my mom would cook. She really didn't know any better and my whole family is overweight. Sausage gravy and biscuits Fried chicken Mashed potatoes with butter and real mayonnaise in them Fried Okra Green Beans with fat back in them (yes a southern thing) Corn on the cob (with butter of course) Fried cube steak with gravy Cakes, Cookies, cheesecakes, LIttle Debbie cakes, twinkies Homemade biscuits made with flour milk and LARD, did I mention I grew up and still live in the south? lol Hamburger Helper My brother who is 11 years younger than me ate Chef Boyardee every meal for lunch and dinner. I never got the whole nutrition thing cos that wasn't what I ate at home. I am learning a whole new way of eating with my sleeve. My mom probably never knew a thing about nutrition, she didn't even graduate high school. She also did the best she could. We live and learn. Wow those are some memories I hadn't thought about in a long time.
  14. So sorry to hear about your ankle and the delay in your surgery. I agree with the above advice to use this time to practice your new eating habits and lose what you can prior to surgery. Get that xray done to see how long you will have to wait and work toward getting that boot off when you can. Your surgery WILL happen. everything happens for a reason and your time will come. Hang in there! Oh and vent away! We are here to listen!
  15. I started a journal early on to help me vent and document how I felt knowing I could look back later and see what I went through to get where I am. I researched recipes and made lists of things I wanted to try after I could eat again. I researched Snacks and things I could take to work for lunch so I could plan ahead and make better decisions. I got things together, bento boxes for lunch, a blender for making Protein shakes, etc. I got things in order and laundry done etc so I could rest and relax when I came home. Good luck!!
  16. At 4 weeks I was still on soft food. I was eating deli turkey and deli chicken, cooked veggies, canned frit in juice, one Protein shake a day, sf popsicles, Peanut Butter, triscuits, wheat thins, eggs, 2% cheese. It was awesome after being on a pre-op diet and then Protein shakes post-op.
  17. If you were told it was okay to have lean meat and you ate lean meat, what is the problem?
  18. Ummm...okay I will bite. More information. What do you eat? How much do you drink? How much do you exercise and what type of exercise?
  19. Congrats on your success so far! Keep up the good work!!!
  20. Going to Six Flags here in Atlanta next summer and ride every roller coaster with my hubby's 14 year old son! Every time I go down a size, I buy a shirt at Good will or off the clearance rack in the next size down. I watch til I can fit it. It motivates me to get into it!
  21. @@Chrystee, this was a pre-op person who also finally admitted to me she was drinking soda and eating cake. Yes you can send your body into starvation mode and have to increase calories but this wasn't a case of that. This was a case of just flat out misrepresenting herself and I have no idea what she was hoping to achieve with her eating choices and the posts here.
  22. Hello @ and welcome! Glad to meet you and looking forward to your posts. I love this forum and I typically tell it like it is. Sometimes my head wants to explode at what I read but hey everyone's journey is their own. My husband says you can lead a horse to Water but you can't drown him. I also laugh at some posts I see and I love the veteran's who are quick to set someone straight with some tough love. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing!
  23. I used premier Protein ready to drink and Jay Robb protein powders. I mix my Protein Powder with unsweetened almond milk. Look for protein powder that is whey protein isolate and less than 10g of sugar per serving. I am also now no longer diabetic after the surgery and am off all medications. Good luck!
  24. Surprisingly it wasn't that bad. I had to do 14 days. By the middle of the first week I just didn't care anymore because I could only eat certain things. SF popsicles, broth and sf Jello got me through. I was losing pounds and that was exciting...every day was a day closer to surgery and I had bigger things to think about. Good luck!
