  1. Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati, Ohio will be doing my surgery. Anyone else have him?
  2. Hello All!!! Greetings from beautiful, cold Ohio! I will have my surgery on December 27th, and I can't wait!!!! Just like many others.. I've been on diets all my life. I loose weight, then I start to feel hungry, and just want to feel full...and one thing leads to another.. then I figure that it's just not worth a diet. I'm an elementary school teacher, and will be banded over Christmas break... and haven't told anyone about the surgery. I can't wait for my Gift of a new start... Health!!! I need to loose 80 pounds to reach my goal. I'm rather big boned.. *yeah.. I know what you are thinking... but I am .. really** Anyway.. I've been reading many posts, and soooo much has been helpful. My husband and I even discuss some of the posts. Keep all that great information coming.. Big Huggs to everyone!

Addicted to nuts and sesame seed bars

NUT addict here!!! I eat peanuts.. but I buy the ones in the shell so I have to crack them. I always get the unsalted ones cuz I tend to retain Water. Having peanust in the shell.. makes you have to work for them.. and seeing a nice portion of them actually tricks me into thinking I'm eating LOTS! It just takes work! Also... I LOVE nuts on my salads. I've gotton into a grilled chicken with dried cranberries, pecans or walnuts salad. YUM!

    What happens when you overeat?

So... can you feel your food slip through the band as you eat? At one point, I never felt the food slip through.. now I do. From what you all are saying... I might need another fill. Oh.. and I sorta liked having the pain, too. It MADE me obey!

Smack him! You know you are a bandster when....

When faced with a choice of where to eat.. the All You Can Eat Buffets are definatly OUT!! Oh.. and I asked for a kids meal, and they told me it would cost 2.00 more because I wasn't a kid!!! Duh.. it's the same food.. and my tummy is as small as a kids!

    Is this good weight loss??

Banded December 27, 2008.. I'm older.. 49, and knew my weight loss would be slowwwwwwwwwww I'm down between 30-35 pounds.. and that's so much better than where I would have been! I haven't been exercising like I need to.. but my food choices are amazing.. even to me! :smile2:
  11. OK... you messed up.. now it's time to make a change. My nutritionist told me that if I didn't make unwise food choices.. I was lying!!! I even told her about the box of candy I ate .. and then there was the half bag of Hershey Kisses that I covered with crunchy Peanut Butter. My emotions .. and my lack of being able to control them caused me to become fat in the first place. I can't say that my emotions are under control yet.. but my food issues are under control. Huggs, dear one... Now.. get back on the track and make wise choices. Right now.. that is the ONLY thing you can control.
  12. My dr. just started not taking insurance and my fills are 100.00 each. Luckily, he took insurance when I had my surgery!! See if you can find another fill center. If you can't, then you could always tell the current fill center that you question their medical practices. Then tell them that you will be checking into their record with the Medical board. That should get them to listen to you.
  13. I'd say find another dr. My dr. educated me about all 3 procedures. It was the dr. that said I would do better with the band. I have 70 pounds to loose. A friend of mine had 200. In her case, he suggested the bypass and she did it. In the process, she had a few health concerns, and even started to look really "baggy". Ultimately... it should be YOUR decision. You are the one who will make yourself succeed or fail. I chose the band because it was a slower weight loss which forced me to radically change my eating habits. I ate way too much fast food, sugar and carbs. Now.. I think about everything I put in my mouth and for me that's really a good thing. :smile2: Good luck on your Quest. I wanted my weight loss to be slow and healthy
  14. Golly.. doesn't that stink!!! I wonder when we will ever reach that "sweet spot" that so many talk about. I'm right there with ya!!!
  15. I had a fill that was too tight. My dr. said that if I get heartburn or gurgling, then I'm definately too tight. He was great.. and even came in and unfilled me on a Sunday Morning!! I did get an unfill and felt better. There's no need to be in pain and not be able to eat real food.
  16. Jazzywoman

What does this mean ? Confused.. Help :)

Call your dr. ASAP!! I had a fill last wednesday, was on liquids, then on Saturday couldn't even get coffee down!!! I made an emergency call and he met me at his office to do a slight unfill. Your symptoms are not normal!!! It will NOT go away.. trust me! The gurgling isn't normal either. Your band is too full.
  17. Jazzywoman

    What..Sweet spot?

I'd tell your dr. that you want to be successful, and need a fill. Just be careful that you don't get an overfill.

My mouth is so dry..Can I chew gum?

I was told not to chew gum just because of the possibility of swallowing it. But if I could chew and not swallow it was ok. I chew gum after dinner because I had been used to having something sweet. Chewing gum gives me that sweet taste with no calories. Chew with care!
  20. I've found out that after 4 fills.. I finally know what restriction is!!! And It's NOT a fun thing to find out... especially by accident. I've also found out that macaroni & cheese is NOT my friend. Give it time.. I now know what everyone has meant by PB and sliming!!!

    Slow Losers Unite!

I'm a slow loser too.. I've had my 2nd fill and I'm still hungry... real hunger.. not head hunger. I go for my 3rd fill in 2 weeks. I hope this is the sweet spot one... I can see the inches falling off.. but not the pounds.. I'm down 22 pounds from my Dec. 27th surgery.
  22. I've lost 2 housecats.. Um.. I would really love to lose 2 real housecats.. any takers? *giggle* just kidding.. or .. not?

    Banded Teachers Talk - BTT

4th grade teacher here!!! I'm here in the Cold Frozen Southeastern Ohio! I LOVE MY JOB!! I can't imagine doing anything else.. well.. some days when it's been difficult, I would like to be a dog bather. The "kids" don't talk back, and there's no homework to collect and grade. No one knew that I had surgery over the Christmas break. I returned to work 5 days later, and felt ok. I was a bit weak, but just said I had some kind of "stomach" bug. I didn't lie.. *giggle*

    A weird feeling inside.

About a month after surgery, my port incision and around my port got really itchy. It's fine now... But for a while there.. I seemed to have my hand in my shirt all the time.. scratchin'~!
