  1. Yes, I feel great in the morning, but the gas pains in my shoulder seem to come back at night. Plus, I get tired, really fast! I guess because I'm not eating the same calories that I'm used to.
  2. Hey, thanks to Dr. Watkins for advice. I have been feeling very hungry and am anxiously awaiting my first feel! I need the restriction.
  3. I have a little soreness in the port incision, but the others are healing rapidly. I feel more of an alien thing inside me. I tend to want to hold my hand over it. I feel it the most when turning over at night from one side to the other.
  4. I was excited. Am still excited, but tired too! It has been different, and a different realization knowing that my eating habits will change from now on! Have had to fight the urge to eat candy!!!
  5. I have shoulder pain too, but I know it is from the gas. I have done some major walking, but not yet enough to get rid of it. I get my daughter to massage my shoulder (when I can talk her into it!). Makes it feel better. It is fading some now, but not like I had thought it would. I have some soreness at my port site, but nothing major. I assume I am doing ok. I have a postop appt. on Dec. 27 and hope that I get a fill then! I have been pretty hungry. I'm ready to lose the hunger pains AND the shoulder pain!
  6. I had my surgery on December 4th. My biggest problem now is feeling so tired! I usually like to stay up late and watch t.v. Several nights last week, all I wanted to do was go home and crash! Are others feeling this way too? will it go away?
  7. i can feel my port. I seem to want to hold my hand on it, even though it doesn't really hurt. But, i don't feel the band.
  8. I think the reason you feel that way is because you haven't had a fill yet. I know I haven't, and have been very hungry. I think I have probably eaten more than I should, but not enough to mess anything up. I am hoping that after I get my fill it will take away the hunger pains and help me to say no when I should.

there IS a difference in spanking and beating. I don't believe in beating anyone. I even asked my 22 year old son his thoughts on the subject. He was a problem child who required lots of discipline. He agrees with me that spanking is sometimes necessary. Beating is not.

I have a friend who did not believe in spanking either. Her daughter and mine are both 20 years old now. There was an episode about seven years ago where the daughter pushed her and pushed her and would manipulate her to push her to the absolute edge. One day she broke and slapped her. It was amazing to see how much the daughter stopped pushing her mother after that. Until that time, SHE was in control, not the mother.
  11. I had never heard of miso until today. I will have to go and get some and try it out.

then you who all disapprove of ANY type of spanking should get together and have to deal with all the unruly children who never learn their limits. thank GOD mine are grown now. My father spanked me and even though I hated it at the time, if he had not done so I dread to think of how I would have turned out. I too believe in God and submit to church authority, but enough is enough. There are some things that are not any of the church's or the government's business, and how I choose to discipline my children is one of those things.
  13. I wasn't hungry to start with, I guess I had swelling. Yesterday, had hunger pains and didn't bring enough liquids with me. Today I can start the mushy stage, and it has filled me a little more than yesterday. I have my preop appt. on Dec. 27, I am hoping he will fill me then, and then I won't be so HUNGRY!
  14. Honey, be happy that you have the ability to make the changes that you (WE) need. I cry too though, I get so emotional the older I get. And, yes, the faster the better. The more time you have to wait, the more time to drive yourself CRAZY with anticipation!!!

I love the you tube video. Some children may benefit from other means of discipline, but there are some who just need an old fashioned spanking!
  16. Well, today is my second day back at work. I have a desk job, so the job isn't a problem. I do get tired real easy, although I wake up in the morning with lots of energy. It just runs out pretty easily. And, today I brought two slimfasts and an extra can of soup!!! Hopefully I will not be as hungry today. I got tied up in traffic on the way home and stopped at taco bell and bought a pintos and cheese. It's not exactly a liquid, but today I start the mushy stage, so I don't think it would hurt me. Hang in there girls! and, yes, I will be trying to puree some wings as soon as I can!!!
  17. yes, I think we all went through some sort of hungry hell. I have been doing good since my banding, but today is my first day back at work, and I have been really hungry today. I didn't bring enough liquids with me. Would fight somebody over some chicken wings right now!
  18. good luck missy, I know you will be SO glad when your date finally arrives. It's HELL waiting ...
  19. my doctor gave me a liquid called roxicet for pain. And, yes Tomecia, the gas pain is like LABOR PAINS.
  20. Hey girls, glad to hear all the success stories, and glad to be a part of it myself! We are all in this together! Is anyone else having problems with burping? When I burp I feel like my stomach is rolling around. It is very uncomfortable. Besides that and some lingering gas pains in my shoulder, I think I'm doing really well.
  21. My dietician suggested a 10 - 14 day preop diet, but the doctor had said in an earlier visit that the people that follow the preop have shrinkage in the fatty cells of the liver which makes the surgery go easier. But that in most cases his patients didn't follow the preop like they should and gained weight. So, I concluded that it was suggested but not mandatory. I followed mine for the most part but did cheat a couple of times. My surgery went fine, and I had no complications. My biggest problem has been the gas pains in my shoulder and it hurts when I burp.
  22. I have been a wimp too, up until today. My surgery was tuesday, and tuesday and wednesday it took all I had to make myself even check emails. The worst pain I had was last night, and it wasn't surgery pain, it was gas pain. It hurt tremedously when I would burp, and I could feel my stomach rolling around. I had not taken any of my pain medication, but I broke down and took some last night before bed. It made me sleep terrible. I tossed and turned all night, dreamed strange dreams and never felt completely asleep. But, all the tossing and turning must have moved the gas around. My shoulder doesn't even hurt today and the burping doesn't give me the same uncomfortable feeling. So, I must have had trapped gas under my stomach. I woke up this morning feeling great with lots of energy. I'm in the kitchen cleaning. I hope this is encouragement to someone else.
  23. Hey Everyone, I've been BANDED. My surgery was yesterday. I was supposed to be at the hospital at 5:30 and the surgery was from 7:30 to 9:05. At 10:40 they were wheeling me out and at 11:41 I was pulling up into my driveway. My first feelings when I woke up from the surgery was being bloated and thirsty. I really am not having that much pain. No sharp or shooting pains. I feel some in my left shoulder from the gas and bloating from the gas. It has eased up some this morning and I feel heavy. But, no pain. I'm slept most of yesterday. I would get up every hour to go to the bathroom and drink another ounce of Water. Didn't feel hungry. Didn't want the liquid pain med, feel like it would make me nauseous. I had a little chicken broth this morning but mostly have wanted water. And, I feel more soreness from laying in the bed than from the surgery. Hope it all continues to go so well! Ann
  24. I started out drinking slimfast. The first night I dreamed about ham, steak and fried chicken. The next day I could swear I smelled meat cooking as I walked across the parking lot. Then I went home and had a can of cream of potato Soup. After all the cold liquids, something hot was very tasty. Just choose things you like, I made homemade oyster stew one night and fed the oysters to my dog. It was very good to me. I had to do liquids two weeks before surgery, and then they postponed me a week so I've had another week now. It's not as bad as you think. just think of the goal ahead, and it will be worth it. I know I'm SO ready for tomorrow!
  25. I know some people can be so condescending. It's like being a drug addict. Unless you've been there yourself you really have no idea what hell they can be going through.
