  1. I have an appt. for my first fill on Jan. 3, but I'm having redness around my port and I'm worrying that they will not fill me yet. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if the dr. can check me out. I'm hoping for the best, but worried.
  2. I think we all get anxious for the next step. I know it seemed like my surgery date would never come. Now I'm waiting for my first fill and my post op. We know we are so close to a breakthrough, and none of us can wait, we've battled with our weight for so long, and we see a light at the end of the tunnel, but it's a LONG tunnel ...
  3. I'm going to call my doctor in the morning and see if they will see me. I'm supposed to go in Thursday, but keep worrying about it. I hope they don't have to take yours out, Tara. I would be very upset if they take mine out! I don't believe the band itself is bothering me, but the port. I wonder if they had to take the port out if they would fill the band first? I'd hate to know I went through all this for nothing!
  4. I'm going through my own bandster hell. I have redness around my port site and I'm afraid it may be infected. I'm supposed to be going to my first post op on Thursday, but I've decided to call in the morning and find out if the doctor can see me tomorrow. I have all these things running through my head, like, what if my body rejects the port? or what if they have to go in and take it out? And, will they give me a fill at all if they DO take it out, and have I went through all this for nothing? then part of me is saying it is all probably ok and I'm worrying for nothing. But, it is really red and I'm always wondering the worst!
  5. Andrea, did they ever do a fill on you?
  6. Andrea, did they ever do a fill on you?
  7. thanks. I know it's not going to happen overnight. I get overanxious, have never been good at patience!
  8. Hey andrea, when did you get your band? How long has it been since they cut back into you?
  9. thanks, I've been a little worried. And you're right, the weekend and holidays are approaching!
  10. tomecia, your surgery was two days after mine. do you have any redness around your port? Mine is a little red but not a lot. Has me a little concerned.
  11. I was banded on December 4th. All of my incisions look good except for the one with the port. It is still very red all around it. It is not that painful, and I do not have any fever or symptoms that I would consider infection, but I am concerned that the area is still so red. Anyone else having similar issues?
  12. I felt stuffed for the first two days. Had to MAKE myself drink anything. by the end of the week though, most of the swelling went down. My first day back at work I was STARVING. I was having the tendency to eat more than I should. Today I started drinking water about 45 minutes before each meal, finishing off at least 15 minutes before eating. Has made me feel much fuller. I'm getting anxious to get my first fill so that I won't feel so hungry. I'm not that good at willpower!
  13. I say, if you need to add weight, then do what you have to! It's really stupid that the insurance company doesn't want to pay anyway. I was very fortunate that my insurance did pay. But, then I WAS 100 pounds overweight. I like the suggestion of adding things to your pockets or ankle weights. Would be MUCH healthier than actually gaining the weight they require!
  14. I had my surgery on a tuesday, went back to work the next monday. Did fine all except have been tired easily since the surgery. I used to stay up late and watch t.v. Now, by 9:00 I am WORN OUT. Looking forward to my week of vacation next week!!!
  15. You know, all of us have put so much into this procedure. Now the question is, will we stick with it? I know if you all have the same determination and drive that I have we should have no problems!!!! I'm looking forward to the new year!!!
  16. I guess I am lucky. The gas pain was the worst for me. I wish I had a different scale to weigh on. the ones I have are not too good. I know I'm VERY hungry, and really need my first fill so I don't overdo it. I've found that 1/2 cup portions are NOT enough to keep me from feeling like I'm starving!
  17. I have lost 10 altogether, but most of that was on the liquid diet before the surgery. Now I'm hungry all the time and the small portions they recommend are not making me full at all. I'm having a tendency to want to eat more, and that scares me. Willpower has NEVER been easy for me. That is why I felt like the band would help. I guess this is what they mean by bandster hell!!! I will try to be patient. Never have been good at that!
  18. I have a post op appt. on Dec. 27 and thought I would be getting my first fill that day. I called to verify and was told I had to wait until Jan. 3 for my first fill. I'm kind of disappointed. I'm feeling hungry and am afraid that I will gain weight before the 3rd. I don't see why they can't go ahead and give me a fill on Dec. 27th.
  19. I had a typo in my earlier message, not waiting for my first "feel" but my first "fill". But, a feel would be nice, too!
  20. don't be nervous, it is a GOOD thing you (WE) are doing. We have had lots of success so far in December, no reason to think it will change! Just think of what next year will hold for us?
  21. yes, we are all in this together! I too hope for better pictures, really soon!!!
  22. I know I feel like it is the most important step I've taken for myself in a LONG time. Good luck today to all, especially tishbite2 and grannyk!
  23. I probably went back to work too soon, but felt like I was really needed and didnt' want to take too much time. Besides, all I do is sit at a desk. But I sure do watch the clock and look forward to 5:30!!! It helps too when I have busier days, they keep me occupied. My boss is out of town today and tomorrow, so the workload is really light (not something to complain about, huh?) makes time go by really slow. I know we get a week's vacation after this week, and I am really looking foward to it!
  24. Yes, i considered my healing time really fast. The worst was the gas pains, which seem to ease a little each day. But, the first couple of days (I guess due to swelling in my stomach from the surgery) I had to make myself eat and drink. Now I'm having to control my urges to eat more than I know I should. That's why I am anxious for my first fill. I need the restriction to help with my lack of will power.
  25. that's good to know! I know I'm anxious to see the scales start going down.
