  1. I have so much more energy now at 4 months post-op. You will definitely enjoy sports/playing with your children again soon. Good luck on your upcoming surgery and a speedy, uncomplicated recovery.
  2. I still enjoy a good burger, only now I can only eat 1/4-1/2 of one without the bun. I won't lecture people about what to eat, not eat, in this day and age we all know what's not good for us. I knew what I shouldn't eat when I was fat.
  3. I love the posts on this thread! Thanks everyone for the humorous thoughts.
  4. I had a shower at the hospital the day after surgery, so yes you will be able to shower.
  5. Wow, he really is obtuse. Unfortunately some people ( men in general?) are. If he is as boring as you say he is he probably doesn't have very good social skills. Sorry that your first reaction was to feel badly, but who wouldn't? You know you are pretty wonderful, right?
  6. Sounds like a few bad days. Time to move on, you've done well and will again.
  7. I too have tried many but have to say the absolutely most impalatable one was the cleanse diet of lemon juice/maple syrup/ cayenne pepper. How I hated it. It was recommended you stay on it for 14 days. Somehow I forced that mess down for 14 days, lost 7 pounds, and of course regained as soon as I started eating again. Just the thought of it makes me nauseated.
  8. I am curious about this as well.
  9. Never heard that expression before, but I guess I'll embrace it!
  10. Good luck and a speedy recovery, with no complications!
  11. Thanks for the link. Very interesting, Makes me wonder what my vagal tone is.
  12. @@JustWatchMe You find the funniest things! Thanks for posting them.
  13. I was so hoping to be one of the lucky ones without hair loss but It started about 3 mos. post op and has been falling out for a month now. The only thing saving me from complete embarrassment is that it is summer and the humidity gives my hair body and waves. Please be finished falling out by the end of summer!
  14. Welcome! As others said above- it gets better everyday.
  15. I had popcorn about two weeks ago for the first time post surgery. I asked the dietician at my 3 month post op visit if I could have popcorn- she approved it. My husband and I "shared" a small size at the movie theater, I think I ate about a cup. It was delicious and I tolerated it just fine. Here's to happy popcorn eating (occasionally)!
  16. When I think I am feeling hunger the first thing I do is drink. I am supposed to wait 15-30 minutes after drinking before eating so that gives me time to figure it out. Most of the time drinking something makes that hunger feeling pass.
  17. Your surgery day will be here before you know it. Welcome to the loser's bench!
  18. Good to hear that your surgery went well and recovery is going smoothly. Don't feel nervous about your uncomplicated recovery, many of us had no issues after surgery. Good luck going through the post op. food stages, some can be rather challenging. You are doing well!
  19. I have only told two people about my WLS, my husband and my best friend. I have not felt compelled to tell anyone else. When asked about my weight loss, I tell them the things listed above re:diet, exercise etc. I sometimes feel guilty not telling other obese acquaintances because I think they could use this tool too. Then I think, well, I didn't know anyone personally that had WLS and I researched it on my own. We all have different levels of comfort in sharing personal information. I don't think God expects us to share everything about ourselves with everyone. You will have to do what is comfortable for you, and God loves you either way, whether you share or not.
  20. You have done well! Waiting is the hardest part, I hope you hear soon.
  21. I'd like to be with you but I'm just not there yet. I do find I am less self conscious as the weight goes down, only 4 months post so maybe when I am a little farther along?
  22. You have done well and look very fit!
  23. Hello Liz! Yes, your new life will be wonderfully thinner. Glad your surgery/recovery went well.
  24. @@CanyonBaby Such wisdom! Thanks for the reminder not to borrow tomorrow's troubles/ worries. Still praying here.
