  1. Did your surgeon recommend one? There are so many! I am starting pre-op on 12/3 and I am using Bariatric Advantage. Unjury is also super good. Some people like Premier Protein, and others like IsoPure
  2. Lots of people use ice chips, broth, S/F jellow, S/F popsicles, etc. Keep it interesting. Well, at least as interesting as you can for a liquid diet. Welcome to the site! You'll find tons of positive people here.
  3. If you're reading this, please participate! So, it's a week before Thanksgiving and I thought it would be fun to post a new positive thread each day up to next Thursday. For this first one, how about you give a shout out to at least one person on this site that you are thankful for! Maybe it's someone you just met, but inspires you. Maybe it's someone pre-op that you identify with. Maybe it's someone post-op that makes you feel like anything is possible. Whoever it is, give them a thank-you here and make sure you tag them I am thankful for @@The Candidate, for new friendship and the promise of a good laugh. I am thankful for @@Kindle for her recipes and stories, @@LipstickLady for telling it like it is, @@Miss Mac for always being the voice of encouragement, @@BeagleLover for being the first to reply to me when I got here, @@woo woo for sending me samples of extra Protein packs she had. I could name so many more! Who are you thankful for? Let's make this the nicest thread going!
  4. You read my mind! I wanted to ask this too!
  5. I saw someone posted a recipe using raw Fiber in a Protein shake. It may have been @@Kindle What is the best brand, and do we have to be careful of taking it within a timeframe of our Vitamins? Also, will it bind to the Proteins and be counterproductive? Should I take it alone? Just doing some pre-planning for post op...
  6. My surgeon will do one in the OR and then again 24 hours later
  7. I'm still pre-op, but can't wait for that day!!!
  8. Tammy, I have been praying so hard for you every day. I really mean that. I hope that you find the physical, mental and spiritual strength to continue to fight as hard as you can. I believe wholeheartedly that this experience will be over soon and you will be on your way to a much healthier and happier life. I am so, so sorry you have had to go through this. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through. Please keep us posted.
  9. @@funcatch I wonder if the pain is your body adjusting to the weight loss? I've heard that sometimes when arthritic patients lose weight, it can actually get a little worse before it gets better.
  10. It's so exciting, isn't it? I have all of my appointments tomorrow. NUT, psych, and Fit eval. Then the real countdown starts! Surgery in 30 days!
  11. @@JennsinCA love, love, love your attitude!
  12. I know a lot of people are gearing up for surgery over the next few months. You know what else is gearing up? You got it, the FLU. This is just a friendly reminder to get your flu shot if that's your thing. At the very least wash your hands often, take a multivitamin and extra C. Clean those computer keyboards, doorknobs, light switches, etc. particularly if you have kids that go to public school or you work outside of your home. I had the flu last year and thought I would have to get better to die. Don't let the flu derail your surgery! Stay healthy!
  13. Your chances of getting pneumonia are greatly increased if you are a smoker. I quit a year ago and I still worry about my lungs.
  14. There's an old saying that says "Your attitude determines your altitude" and in this sense, I think that you need to focus on being positive and remind yourself why you did this. Instead of saying "I made a mistake", say to yourself, "I made a choice and now I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it work for me". By staying positive and using uplifting self talk, you can combat those nasty negative thoughts. You are strong. You are courageous. You are NOT weak, you are NOT a failure. Find the strength deep within yourself and do not grieve what you decided before this surgery, and that was this is what you needed to do. Take lots of deep breaths and breathe in positive energy and blow away all the negative energy. Much love and light to you!
  15. @@*Lexie* LOL I thought for sure I was reading that wrong!
  16. You were able to eat half a pizza???
  17. @@nprcowboy What did your Dr. say?
  18. If you send out positivity to the universe you will get back positivity. The same goes for negativity. Breathe and enjoy life. This will be a memory one day. Trust that everything happens for a reason.
  19. She won't "let you"? Is she holding you hostage? You are a grown woman, and you can make your own choices. One of my favorite quotes from the book Eat, Pray, Love is "Stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone ought to be". I think it applies in this situation. Mommy's love us, but you are allowed to stand up for yourself. Just tell her nicely that you appreciate her concern and help, but you are going to get out for a while.
  20. Check with the Dr. first. Some capsules are not supposed to be opened, as they can cause problems with your digestive system or if they are time released the process is screwy by opening them. Just check with them first
  21. I had my dr. switch my capsules to tablets so I can crush them in my food. Could you do that?
