  1. I started my journey in late July and was planning on surgery over my Christmas Break ( I'm a teacher). Due to a rare side effect from medication I had tendonitis in 3 areas and could barely walk. My NUT told me last month that she thinks I'll be cleared for surgery mid to end February depending on PT progress. I was getting super excited and even more motivated. Then I looked at the calendar and realized that surgery would probably be in mid to late March. I hate to use 10-15 sick days this close to summer break when I don't have a lot built up. What would you do? I'm also freaked at the possibility of switching insurance carriers March 1, but that's a different story!

    Funny NSV

I teach high school and thankfully this happened before students were in the hallway. I left my room and started to walk down to the workroom. A coworker was walking several steps in front of me when my skirt fell down. Thankfully he did not turn around when I gasped and ran into the closest classroom. I also had a slip on so I was covered. I'd love to see our security coverage of that one though! Love that this is the first year in the 13 I've been there that I've worn a skirt or dress and LOVED it!

    I need help

I have been the same way over the last week. I'm going to go back to the early days and focus on liquids and protein tomorrow! We can do this! We've worked too hard to mess up our progress! Food does not taste as good as being thinner feels!

    Snacking

Wow! I was about to post the same thing! Surgery June 1st and down 58 and craving junk! Thanks for sharing. Just knowing I'm not alone gives me motivation to make the right choices!

    Nausea

I had to take Zofran for nausea for a couple weeks. Try different fluids. I couldn't handle artificially sweetened things like Popsicles or crystal light. Decaf tea is all I could tolerate. It does get better.

Pain all over 2 weeks post-op

I had it too and it went away after a few days.

Can I take Imodium AD for diarrhea?

My sleeve doesn't like sugar free stuff due to artificial sweeteners. I couldn't do the SF Popsicles or crystal light post op at all. Decaf tea is all I could tolerate and is still my go to drink. Maybe that would help. I have taken Immodium but not until 4-5 weeks out.
  11. So excited that all of a sudden this week I am tolerating more food. Still not getting in necessary calories, but I can now tolerate yogurt and cottage cheese. Protein drinks are good too and I can finally eat 1/4-1/3 cup of food per meal for at least 2 meals a day. Adding a third tomorrow. I'm even getting more and more fluids in everyday. But here's the best part: My daughter gave me a hug yesterday and backed up and said, " What's that?" I looked at her funny and she lifted my shirt and pressed on my rib. Then she said "I've never felt that before. I'm so proud of you mommy."

6 weeks out, my post op VSG

Welcome! I was sleeved on June 1 as well and have similar results. Congrats!!!!
  13. Following. I'm 6 weeks out and still have trouble. I did get clearance for non chewable. Hope it helps!
  14. Wheat thins are on my list but only 4 with some tuna or chicken salad. I have had a lot of nausea, especially with medication so I've used 1-2 a day to help.
  15. I was 3 weeks out yesterday and have done fairly well, but my sleeve is so picky I am running out of options for food and drink. I can't do plain water or any artificially sweetened drinks like Crystal Light. I've only been able to do Decaf iced tea and Syntrax Chocolate Truffle flavor for protein. For food I am lactose intolerant since surgery and can't even handle Lactaid milk. So no yogurt or cottage cheese or cream soups. The things I can handle are lunch meat, eggs, and baked potato. I can only take 2 oz at a time. I have tried tuna, chicken, and tilapia and get sick from those. It seems I'll have a really great day followed by a day sicker than a dog. Thanks for reading my long post! Any ideas?

    Quest bars

Just tried Syntrax cookies and cream and don't like it. I had to mix it with water since I haven't found a milk that the sleeve likes.

    Just checking in

Looks like you are doing great! When did you start protein bars?
  18. mchap25

    Propel water

    I don't like them either!
  19. I love the premiere protein too but sleeve doesn't. Can't wait to try it again soon.

    Powdered Protein

Syntax nectar chocolate truffle. I mix it with water.
  21. Thanks for all of the advice everyone! Turns out I really wasn't getting enough fluids. I got strep throat Sunday and really got dehydrated. I was sent for a banana bag and another bag of fluids but got sick from the banana bag so I didn't get much of it. They did straight fluids then and I went back today for more fluids. Feeling a lot better and going to use your great ideas on getting more fluids in! Thanks again for the support. I appreciate this forum so much!
  22. Thanks for the tips. I will certainly try them.
  23. I think you posted on another thread about their chili. I'm glad because I tried it last week and it works! I had 1/2 cup today. If not, thanks for sharing! Things are looking up!
